As a former Australia post motorcycle postie this Amazon technology is amazing. Aus post should look into it - so many incorrect deliveries happen but the Amazon software seems foolproof
If you’re a courier driver you understand that this is legit not a bad way to make abit of extra coin . I been doing AFlex on weekends for a few months and it’s great .
Don't forget it's gross not net, tax department want their cut too. Yet another company wanting to avoid paying minimum wage and avoid employee rights and benefits, no need for HR if they can cut you off at any moment.
He explained it well BUT no mention at all of deductions for tax or running costs so it's only really telling you the nice bits / selling points but leaving out key facts and costs to yourself
$128 for 4hours work is $32 an hour. You have pay your tax, fuel and vehicle maintenance out of that. If you break it down to $ per delivery it's about $3 a delivery. Save yourself a headache and contract to local Australian business transport companies paying upwards of $10 per delivery. As usual, a multi national corporation ripping off the people that make their business move
He says $108 is the min but there's no tall of tax? That comes out of what you earn I assume? Which means that min is really about $90 give or take for 4 hours work? Then y need to deduct fuel and car costs
I know I can reimburse toll road fee to deliver the parcels following the in-app navigation. But if the delivery area is very far away, and I delivered all packages(i.e no need to return parcel to warehouse), can I reimburse toll road fee to get home (which is the same area of the warehouse)?
@@EFTM it's ok for me. I'm not crying. I retired with two houses and a 7 figure super at 56 years old from working as a blue collar worker. It's the younger generations I am concerned about.
Doing deliveries in quiet suburban areas is all good and well, but what happens when you have to make deliveries in the CBD where there's nowhere to park, or even stop?
@@Gix321 I feel if you are doing something like Amazon Flex as your full time job you are doing it wrong! This is a great job for someone with 9 to 5 to get a bit more cash!
You are only contracted for the block hours you choose. The app doesn't tell you to stop if you go over time, it will keep directing you to deliver. I had a run where I couldn't complete all deliveries and returned a bunch of parcels. As long as you mark them in the app correctly with the appropriate reason for non-delivery, you'll still get paid. Some people will keep going until all done but I say if you're only being paid for 4, 6.5 or 8 hours why work for free. I think people hear the horror stories about Amazons reputation and get scared into working overtime for no benefit. Apparently you can be marked down for not delivering all packages and if you do it enough times, they stop sending you offers but hasnt happened yet.
Over the time, call support immediately that you are over the time and take the left over parcels back. Then email support the same situation so you don't get dinged.

Not bad really. Factor in about 5-10 litres of fuel out of your pay which isn't too bad. What are the tax implications? Do you have to then put the marginal tax rate away or is Amazon withholding that part for you?
You're an independent contractor, so ABN, and its your responsibility to account for taxes etc. For someone thinking this is a way to earn their Annual wage, that's a lot to learn (but easy) for someone looking to top up their family bank balance with a block of deliveries here and there, it's really easy to do.
Thanks for all the info and the video. I had been wondering about the Amazon drivers we have had turning up. Had a quick chat to a couple of them but understandably they can't hang around too long.
Yep! You are an independent contractor - so you might also choose to do Uber or something too - but even for that one shift a week extra earn an abn is easy to get!
looks easy in the video but when you do the 6 hour it’s a lot of pain when you go through tens of parcels and small boxes it’s not even worth it anymore and they should just do 3-4 hours run only to make their work more efficient and more drivers can complete the deliveries in less than the time allocated
I genuinely doubt that, and if you don’t see value in people learning about something they may never have seen before then click away, go watch some unboxings or something

$108 for 4 hours, but don't forget to subtract petrol, tolls, and additional wear and tear on the car.
Yeah. The petrol is the real killer now compared to start of the year.
That’s the absolute minimum - I’ve seen regularly 128/156 and more
And tolls are paid

Insurance is difference as you're using your car for deliveries so you pay more. Plus, they don't mention tax you need to pay plus fuel etc

I would say both you cannot. Usually the trip to and from the start and end of your day would be on yourself
Is $128 after tax? Also, can you claim the car and any related expenses ?
All the great working conditions we fought for in the past are being slowly eroded. $108 for 4 hours is shit.

Yeah, agreed, but I can tell you I was blown away that one apartment block I delivered to had six parcels to five different units - so efficient
my guess that would attract a higher rate, like uber surge pricing, otherwise no one would do it
