This is a great addition to the game. My only issue is that I’ve found plenty of balloons that are stuck in walls or out of bounds. Hopefully Nintendo can remedy this in the future.
That last sentence about eating soup really got to me, I wish I could have that feeling of relaxation more often.
Just don’t go looking in the Metro Kingdom. 50% of the balloons are inside of buildings.

Shoe Anklerest If you want actually easy balloons to find, go do the Mushroom Kingdom. There are very few out of bounds clips, if any, and most balloons will be in trees, on top of the boss rematch buildings, and at the top of the castle. It’s real easy.

This method is _WAY_ better to earn gold. Go to a kingdom where the extra money event is taking plave and stay there, I maxed 9999 coins *twice* by doing this in the metro kingdom. The only reason I didn't get 999 moons was because it felt boring to grind... _not any more!!!_
I just got to 998 moons, grinding the slide level over and over and over again, was just about to do the last level and this comes out, easy money.

Yeah, the double-coin specials are increadable. They make you explore and then reward you very much for it.

Also its interesting how many people hide ballons in the exact same spot. In metro city a lot of people hide it in the island so you simply scroll through the options until a arrow points toward nothing except the island saying 140m.

Yeah this minigame is very fun, but when people use *Out of Bounds* glitches... It is the worst Mario minigame ever.
what amazes me is that they are present *DAY ONE*
HavingFunTimes nintendo patched most of the glitches in the update, but new donk is still awful sometimes
that doesn't make it the worst since it is a choice to use a glitch
I still can't figure out how people got their balloons on top of particular towers in the Mushroom Kingdom... No wonder they're 500+ coins.

My daughter was playing Balloon World the other day.
She will never be the same.
It was a dawn of a new day when Brittanifa turned on our Switch. Such a happy little girl, I'll never forget the look on her face when she found that lovely ribbon-wrapped box under the tree. Santa did a wonderful job this year, blessing our family with a lovely new Switch. As our trio of a family huddled around the TV to play for the very first time, we knew our adventure begun, when we heard Mario sing the title of his new game: Super Mario Odyssey. Those were the days. These past few months have just been such a blessing. Our princess finally had something to distract herself, her obsessive behavior seeming to be getting out of hand, now seemed under control. For now at least, she was no longer rearranging her plush toys in her room for hours on end, or resetting the silverware in the kitchen, us having to wait 40 minutes just to have something to eat. Now she seemed content with this new game, and as she collected all 999 moons by the beginning of this month, she seemed.. Content. I've never seen our dear Brittanifa act so humble, so calm! All of her behaviors were finally put to rest, and she was my little girl again, all thanks to Nintendo. I should have thrown it out when I had the chance.. The warning signs from the direct, that cold sadistic smile that Luigi made in his blood red and frostbitten blue balloons could never mean anything good. The devious green bowtie was a sign that this was some kind of scheme, some kind of trick to lure her and her habits. I told my wife that night after seeing the direct, after me staring at the ceiling with these unwavering thoughts swirling in my head. She simply laughed.. Said I was 'silly'. I could see right through this whole facade of a good time this 'd''l''c' promised to provide, yet, seeing my wifes lovely pore-covered face smile at me, I realized I could not say no to her.. Our daughter would have her Balloon World, and hopefully her habits won't kick in. A few weeks past, and the day had finally arrived.. Balloon World was downloaded, and my daughter happily sat on the couch as she saw Luigi in the Mushroom Kingdom. I sat there, faking a smile, as he lured my daughter into this new challenge like the green demon he was. My daughter easily found his balloon, being the sweet little expert she was, then soon, she had an option to find other balloons. The many options she had overwhelmed me, and if the shoe was on the other foot, I would have chosen a smaller challenge. Yet my poor, smart princess Brittanifa, wanted something hard to start with. A username 'xx幸運を笑うxx' appeared at the bottom of the page, and she almost instantly selected those strange, almost runic symbols. It seemed simple enough, 40 seconds to find the balloon.. But there was a simple catch. As she gave her 50 coins, the location hint appeared..

The arrow pointed down.
The look on her poor face smowned almost instantly. My heart sank as she jumped and jumped over and over against the castle gates, trying to find a way in, or at least down below towards her goal. There were no tunnels, no paths she could take. The demon that made this glitched the game, placing the balloon under the hitboxes below. As she attempted this, I tried to keep calm, laughing awkwardly and suggesting to pick another challenge. Her hears almost seemed deaf, as she attempted over and over, without another thought of even attempting to look at me. After trying to butt against the wall for 30 minutes, she tried to run back to find a motorcycle, and run it against the gate to even have a tiny hint of a chance to squeeze down below. She tried anything and everything: Yoshi, rolling, hitting, even jumped on Dorrie in some vein attempt to find a secret clipping technique. I've tried begging to her to stop, and soon I put my foot down, and shut off the system.. My sweet little girl threw a temper tantrum, and bolted in her room. I gave a deep sigh, knowing that ridding her of this game was the only.. I looked over at the Switch's dock.. She took the Switch! I hurried up to her room and tried to open the door.. It was locked. She locked herself in her room, as I hear the sounds of the accursed music through the walls. Me and my wife tried to pry open the door, yelling at our poor daughter, even promising her butternut squash, Brittanifa's favorite meal.. But to zero avail.. We had no choice but to unscrew the door off, and as the door came down relentlessly on her floor, we saw nothing but an open window and a note that simply read:
'I'm a good player. I am. I am. I am.' The latter was written all across the piece of paper, until the bottom right read: 'I am. Love me, xx幸運を笑うxx!!' I haven't seen my daughter since. It's all your fault Nintendo. You let this happen.
(TL;DR: Good. Never read it ever please. Just don't overplay glitch challenges.)

I played it yesterday for some time and I got like 3 out of bounds balloons in my first 10 tries.

The Sunshine outfit is the second best thing about this update, maybe even best.
I started playing in the Mushroom Kingdom when the rewards were up and everybody placed their balloon in the exact same place 137m away. I made loads of coins. How can Luigi sustain this business? Is here creating this money himself? Are we his way of money laundering? Will the prices of everyday goods super inflate because of the amount of coins we are putting into circulation? Maybe they already have a super inflation problem because it costs 9,999 coins just to be dead.
The Metro Kingdom is how Luigi sustains this business. So many wall clips!
you know, if Nintendo keeps adding costumes every now and then, thus making people keep needing coins, they could probably keep people playing odyssey forever. though I still think more kingdoms should be added as DLC. we all want isle delphino, give it to us!

I'm so glad that Nintendo is finally rewarding us for practicing our movement for challenges. I always have enjoyed doing different challenges, like captureless, jumpless, etc. Now I can easily pop the harder balloons, and it's very satisfying!
What I love most about Luigi's Balloon World is that people can essentially make their own moons. You can't name it or anything, but players have to overcome a challenge whether it be speed or thinking outside of the box to find the balloon. Not only that but when you pop a balloon after looking a few times its incredibly satisfying.
I... still want to play as Luigi. I really hope they make that possible.
Regardless, though, I'd be glad to try it out. Thanks for the recommendation!

Matthew Goodman Usually it's two reasons. One, Luigi plays differently to Mario and it adds another layer to the game as well as replayability. Two, A LOT of people like Luigi more than Mario (myself included).

In my opinion, the Lost Kingdom is the easiest place to find balloons. Not to many hidden locations.
Metro Kingdom however is a completely different story. That's where I feel like the game gets real challenging.
That's because half of the balloons are out of bounds.
I feel more like sand kingdom is the easiest. Most people are lazy and just use the wires (I forget the name)
Hamilton McElhannon You have a point. Most balloons are either hidden in the cage, on the pyramid somewhere, or on the timer challenge. Also, they're called Spark Pylons.
Thanks, also I love how each kingdom kinda has the little things that make it special to hide. The Trex, glydon, water, the speed flower things, and etc.
at first the cascade kingdom seemed really easy, then someone hid a balloon in the dinosaur skeletons nostril and I was like "ok, that's pretty clever".

I agree! This new game-mode is SUPER fun! My only problem with it is that usually the balloons that cost a lot of coins to find are just balloons people used a glitch/clip to hide... Especially in New Donk City.

By the way, a few out of bounds/clipping into platforms glitches were ironed out. Along with the infamous talkatoo jump rope glitch and the glydon corner glitch. Kinda sad,but it would completely break the balloon world minigame.
i actually noticed that this is a great way for nintendo to find and fix OOB glitches
There's always the option of putting death fields in OOB locations while in Baloon World, but they'd probably prefer to remove them altogether.

A lot of balloons are found in the same spots so there’s not to much surprise

Gameboy VIBEZ could've at least have made a local multiplayer where luigi (p2) has to leave the room and mario (p1) hides it. That would've been cool and we could've even seen Luigi with his own cappy.

Note how I was commenting on how they will never go away, as in I've seen them many times, and they will never stop. That doesn't mean I'm new, that just means I haven't gotten over their stupidity.

This is effectively like a "mario maker", embeded in the game. Simply brilliant!
The first time I played this I was like "oh I'm only going to play this for a little bit, it's just a mini game, not the full thing!" But boy was I wrong! I ended up playing only Luigi's Balloon World for the next 2 hours because of how addicting it is. Going to the different kingdoms for the special coin deals and trying to hide your balloons really tough is so much fun, and when you see a balloon but you just can't reach it in time is so frustrating but so rewarding when you finally get it after a million tries. The rewarding feeling you get from finding a tough baloon or for having a well hidden balloons is so good feeling, this is in my opinion Nintendo's most addictive game. So fun!!! It's easy to get carried away and spend too many coins, so earning the attack is a fun challenge. I realize that it would be extremely hard if you don't know all of the cool tricks and movement stuff, but for me it was really fun. If you want to learn how to do all those acrobatics, I suggest either watching speedrunners or just practicing the moveset.
I didn't like Odyssey's main game at all but this timed Balloon World mode just works much better for these tiny open worlds. So that's good, I guess. If this would've been paid content, I wouldn't have liked anything from Odyssey. So it's a good thing they made this free.
Luigi's not in every kingdom though... unless you don't count the "cut content so we'll put in a boss fight here instead" kingdoms.
Just because I have a Sonic profile pic, doesn't mean I hate every other platformer. I love Galaxy and A Hat in Time.
I hate Odyssey because of Cappy's dialog, the worlds being way too tiny, the themes being generic, that it was too easy, that moons weren't satifying and that the bosses sucked. The soundtrack also wasn't memorable to me.
It's fine that others like Odyssey but I'll stay away when an Odyssey 2 comes out.

"I'd also like to point out that these worlds are the largest we've had in a long time." Sure, but I can also just play A Hat in Time and have a blast with these worlds. Mafia Town and Alpine Skyline are very large but have a lot of love put into them. Odyssey feels rather flat, like it's a gross hybrid of 3D World and Sunshine. To me anyways.

"This isn't about A Hat in Time VS Odyssey." A Hat in Time is what I was hoping Odyssey to be and they're both 3D collectathon platformers.
Let me explain what I mean with the korok seed thing. There are moons in Odyssey that are given for the easiest tasks (like a 10 second walk across a bridge and then back) but there are also long challenges that give you the same reward. It's like if you play through a shrine in BoTW and then at the end, it gives you a korok seed. I could've just done a simple 5-10 second overworld puzzle and could've gotten the same reward as doing a shrine.
