Last week, a Malaysian passenger jet was shot down over eastern Ukraine, killing all 298 people on board. It has yet to be confirmed who shot it down, but US and Ukrainian officials have blamed the pro-Russia rebels.
VICE News correspondent Simon Ostrovsky is in the Luhansk region with the Ukrainian military to see what, if anything, has changed in the conflict after the plane disaster.

of course it was a pressure to fighters to stop their fight. Which they did - Ukrainian side, although the soldiers in the field initially refused it in this video.
      And therefore investigation was succesful.
Also thanks to local people, will to cooperate = give evidence to court and prosecutors, which we now know - rest of them DID NOT WANT belong to Russia and did not wish russian killers in their villages.
No, 60-100 000 people in some Referendum, pushed into voting with machine guns, is not the will of all 6 mil. people of Ukraine who lived there.
So asi 30 000 people in Crimea referendum is not the will of 2.9 mil. who lived there.

It's human nature for us to believe what we want to believe. It's like a thought filtering mechanism that keep the stress levels of our brains at a manageable level. It's often stressful to face the truth. In times of strength, we are able to rise above that instinct for the sake of our moral and ethical ground, that was either instilled in us when we were young, or that we have found through observation, and the desire to manifest the best outcome in each situation. In times of weakness, caused by any form of trauma, we revert to the base instincts, which can often help perpetuate negative and destructive situations.

Very frustrating when people think it's Kiev that wants this war. Ever since day 1, Russian Rebels in the Ukraine chose violent means of protest as their preferred way of action. While the EuroMaidan remained some what peaceful for the first month, the Russians were immediate in their resolve to wage war against Kiev. Besides, Kiev offered the Russians time to peacefully negotiate a compromise, after all the Russians started their rebellion the day Yanukovych lost his power, and the fact it took months for the Ukrainians to do anything aggressive towards the Russians.
Also it's frustrating when people hold the belief that the motive behind the rebellion, independence of an oppressed people, actually exists, and if it existed, is a motive that secures the moral high ground for the rebels. For one, the Russian-speaking people weren't oppressed at all before the rebellion. Perhaps that is because there was no break between Russian influence over Ukraine and the Russian rebellion. A UN report said that if anyone was being discriminated against, it'd be the Tatars in the Crimea. Anyways, a sign of a matured, progressive nation is when the people of that nation can come together and talk through problems. The Russians have not done anything of that sort. Instead, like I have mentioned, they resorted to violence on day 1. The moral high ground is held by Kiev, who only want the status quo and peace, that is all.

Kiev allowed right wing groups to intimidate the left, the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine was attacked in June, Borotba fled to Greece and there has been talk of banning the KPU.
Ukraine is rapidly racing to the right while bashing the left of Ukraine into the ground so it is no wonder there are those that don't wish to be apart of Ukraine.

    • @lteagle101
      @lteagle101 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Psy Fox The far right party of Ukraine got 36 of 450 seats in parliament. It doesn't seem to be rapidly racing to the far right. The reason why they got popular in the first place is because this far right party has been fighting for a united Ukraine, something that the majority of Ukrainians want (I wonder why.). Also, if you are worried about what this right party will do if it gains popularity, remember that a large portion of Ukraine wants to be apart of the EU, eventually. If this right winged party does anything out outrageous, it will make Ukraine less likely to become apart of the EU, something the Ukrainian people do not like. Thus, the right wing party will be disposed of in the same way the Russian puppets were last February.
There is no wonder what made people in the east want to be Russian- that's due to Russian propaganda and old people wanting to go back to the old ways. But, the far majority of Ukrainians want to be European, and within that there is no confusion.
What if this rebellion happened in Mother Russia, the country these people wish to become apart of? Then we know the answer, immediate imprisonment of all political enemies, immediate show of force, etc. Look at the Russian reaction towards homosexuals and those against Putin, also can't forget the environmentalists who constantly get imprisoned for the slightest crime.

@@Psy500Whatever it is. This airplaine that has a lot of Dutch people in it. Had nothing to do with that war and got shot down by Russian sepratists. Its logical because the plaine only got shot down when it came to the fight area. The sepratists recently received an air strike weapon that the Russian sepratists used to shoot down Ukrainian airiplaines that also came from the West side. The airplaine MH17 came from the West. So concluding you want to be part of Russia more then Ukraine is a mistake too. Russia is not innocent and it will always pretend that it is. We lost 197 Dutch people on that plain. We are a small country. Either the person using that airtrike weapon is stupid. Or they wanted to kill Ukrainian airplanes so bad that they were willing to shoot down any plane coming from the West.
Russia just wants more land you know this right?. Poetin already took in land in 1999. Its not the first time Russia is fighting with countries nearby. The only people that suffer from this are the people. Polititians are always safe hiding in their bunkers just like now.

Ukraine did not have motives to shoot down any planes in their airspace. Everyone know that the rebels did not have any airplanes. Even when Russia violates the Ukrainian airspace they did not shoot them down because then Putin has an excuse to invade Ukraine with full force remember they have 40,000 army units just on the border between Ukraine and Russia and 20,000 in Crimea. Now we all know how huge the Russian army and far more superior than that of the Ukrainian why would Ukraine try to start a war? Doesn't make sense right? It's ridiculous to think that Ukraine would start this war because Russia could crush them at anytime, if given the opportunity to attack at full force I'm pretty sure they would. But why Putin wants Ukraine soo bad, well because Russia wants all of it former territory.. basically the Russian Federation is a new name for the old Soviet Union. I suggest Russia need to apologize for the incident of the MH 17 to the world.

Instead of mindlessly blaming Russia from the moment the incident happened based on prefabricated voice recordings and social media posts, take a look at the concrete evidence provided by Russia yesterday which shows the activity of BUK radar systems by Ukraine to correspond to their story as well as satellite images of BUK systems in position to carry out this catastrophe as well as the a visual representation of a Su-25 which shadowed the plane. Maybe you can answer for USA and/or Ukraine why there were 8 BUK systems active from Ukraine on the day of the incident when it is commonplace knowledge that the separatists have no air forces?

Please before you point the finger backup your answer with 100% facts

Scherbenkacks No, Ukraine are enemies of Russia. The pro-Russian separatists want the East-side of Ukraine, because they say it used to be Russia's ground and they feel more comfortable with Russia. Ukraine wants to keep it's own ground, so Ukraine is anti-Russia.

The chance of something like this happening to 1 airline in 4 months is probably a trillion to one. So ask yourself this, if it sounds like BS and stinks, it probably is and does. The chance that MH17 is really MH370 is just as likely than it is that both B777 are separate aircraft.

You have to make a very difficult choice in this situation, either you try to recover all bodies to be able to send them back home or you leave the crash scene untouched. I think Simon's demands not to touch the crash scene are ridiculous considering it is very hot right now. It is inhumane to let the bodies disintegrate when there is still a chance to find them.

People that say it is Ukrainian militairy are not thinking clear, because why in earth would Ukraine shoot an Airplaine coming from the West? it only got shot down the moment the airplaine came close to the area where they are fighting. Ukraine is larger then just that area so. There is quite some proof that Russian serpratists that actually recently received an air strike weapon shot the airplaine.. It makes ssense because they were busy shooting down Ukrainian airplaines. These would have come from the West

One of the leaders of the pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine has confirmed in an interview with Reuters that militants had Buk anti-aircraft missiles, which, according to Washington were used to precipitate the Malaysian aircraft.
The Agency emphasizes that, in an interview published on Wednesday battalion commander Vostok (East) Aleksandr Chodakowski admitted for the first time since Thursday, when a passenger plane was shot down over the eastern Ukraine, the rebels had set Buk missile. He also confirmed that the set could have come from Russia and could be sent there to remove evidence of the presence of these missiles.
