    One week after Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 was shot down in eastern Ukraine, killing all 298 people onboard, authorities have yet to determine for certain who was responsible for launching the missile that destroyed the plane. Many Ukrainians, however, are convinced it was the pro-Russia rebels who committed the act of “terrorism;” Russia continues to deny involvement.
    VICE News correspondent Simon Ostrovsky is in Kharkiv as the investigation continues. He attends a pro-Ukrainian rally, then travels to the Kharkiv airport, where the bodies of many of the passengers arrive to be sent back to the Netherlands for identification and burial.

      @Marcus Aurelius Actually Ukraine is doing pretty well and have signed a treaty with the EU. Now look at Russia. I urge you to travel there and drive outside Moscow to witness the poverty there. Dictatorships do not work for the common folk. Yes, we have problems in Democratic countries, but those problems are not comparable to the problems in countries like Russia or Belarus.

    Now we know that the Russian 53rd Air Defense Brigade based in Kursk shot down the Malaysian Air flight 17 with a BUK. The reason the BUK was there : Russian armor had proven vulnerable to attack from the air early in the conflict. So the BUKs were brought in to cover for them. After firing it and hitting the MH17, a BUK that had previously been tracked by private investigators at Bellingcat, was shipped back to Russia in a big hurry. Busted!

Why would Ukraine shoot an airplane coming from the West?. With that Russia did give the Russian seprarists an airstrike weapon.

    Another convoy of armored vehicles from the territory of the Russian Federation has entered Ukraine (passed through Sukhodilsk, Shoseyna Street).
    Early this morning, on July 31, a large convoy of armored vehicles, about 50 units (this is no exaggeration) passed through the town of Sukhodilsk, Luhansk region. According to our local sources, “We haven’t seen anything like this before, convoys have passed through before, but in much smaller numbers.”
    Judging from this, we can already say that Russia brought its troops into Ukraine without a declaration of war. In our previous reports, we warned about the urgent need to block the border in the Krasnodon area and the surrounding villages. This should be done not only in the area of the Izvaryne checkpoint where the OSCE representatives‪ may still be present, but also in the villages ‪of Parkhomenko, Popivka, and especially in the village of‪ Sjevernyi.
    It is necessary not only to regain control of the highway through the village of Novosvitlivka and Novohannivka (before Luhansk), but also to secure our positions at this locale. A simple checkpoint of Ukrainian Armed Forces / National Guard will not help against such large convoys. This is no longer an ATO, not from a long time ago, but an undeclared war.
    Locals express bewilderment and sharply criticize the security command. For a better understanding of the situation, below is the direct speech of one of the locals who daily observes the influx of equipment from the‪ Russian Federation:
    “It seems that our top security officials are interested in a protracted massacre since they don’t intend to block this source (note: Sukhodilsk, Sjevernyi, Popivka, and Parkhomenko) of daily passage of equipment from Russia for the third month in a row! This is an endless stream of reinforcements for terrorists! How can we reach and give a shoutout to the top?! We cannot call the phone numbers posted on their websites - they are being wiretapped. People keep writing and warning, but the ministers have zero reaction, and they probably don’t report to the President about such blunders, shaking in their office chairs, while the children are dying! And then they will again wonder where the tanks, APCs, Grads, Acacias, and vehicles with shells and mercenaries come through?!…”
    We would like to emphasize immediately that this is not the only message about the equipment convoy consisting of 50 units passing through this area today. Moreover, there is information that this convoy is preparing to attack the ATO forces…
    Together we will win! Glory to Ukraine and death to its enemies

    Hopefully the fighting will stop soon. Then after the Ukrainian government has been properly reformed, they could have actual discussions about during a referendum in the regions that want to separate from Ukraine. Then we maybe we can figure out as an international community what the people want, and react accordingly. Although i fear our world is much too entangled in political intrigues for that to happen.

      Commercial flights fly over conflict zones all the time, it's not an unusual thing to happen. Airlines make decisions on flight plans based on weather conditions and what is the shortest route so they don't waste fuel, thus keeping costs low.
      They also have people who do risk assessment, and obviously those people assessed the risk wrong here...

    United States stated that Russia is firing artillery from its territory across the border positions of Ukrainian troops in Ukraine, thus supporting the pro-Russian separatists in their conflict with Kiev.
    We have new evidence that the Russians intend to provide a larger and more powerful multiple-launch rocket artillery separatist forces in Ukraine and we have evidence that Russia is firing artillery from their positions within the Ukrainian army - said during the briefing, State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf.

VICE has shown a kidnapping of a local politician and armed takeover of a police station by probable pro-kiev radicals so I don't think they are exactly hiding. Their views and idea is to let the people do the talking. They are simply where anything big is happening.

      Sheep King Well you should check out other Simon's documentaries. In one he goes to Russia in search of North Korean wood cutting camps (yes they do exist, in Russia). During this documentary he drank, shot a shotgun with a local mafia member to deter local North Korean security forces and illegally broke into private land with an ex-police officer. He is quite a good on-field investigator reporter who does things his way.
      I don't think there is an emphasis on right sector as the right sector as far as I am aware haven't really done anything serious after the people burning in Odessa, he is trying to reach major happenings near the front lines and front line cities in most cases, like we see currently he filmed the plane crash situation. He did do stories or references to right sector when they were somewhere supposedly in action. Nowardays you don't really hear what the right sector is doing. Mostly it is UA as right sector really don't have any means to fight separatist tanks, hard grade weapons.

    Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 (MH17/MAS17)[a] was a scheduled passenger flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur that was shot down by Russian-controlled forces[4][5][6][7] on 17 July 2014, while flying over eastern Ukraine. All 283 passengers and 15 crew were killed.[8] Contact with the aircraft, a Boeing 777-200ER, was lost when it was about 50 km (31 mi) from the Ukraine-Russia border, and wreckage from the aircraft fell near Hrabove in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine, 40 km (25 mi) from the border.[9] The shoot-down occurred during the war in Donbas over territory controlled by Russian separatist forces.[10]

    Those that don't jump are moscuvites. Heil our heroes, heil ukraine. These are the same slogans used by Bandera supporters and those Ukrainians that met the German army with flowers and pies. So, why are people surprised that Russians call them Nazis? After all half of Ukraine embraced the nazis and the other half fought them, just as they are fighting them now in Donbass region. People on here have no clue to Ukrainian history except that of Wikipedia and most don't even read that all the way. Ukraine is three different regions of outskirts of empires. Ukraine means "outskirts" of something. It was never a country until 1993. Ukraine is Galicia, Malorossya (kiev), and Novorossya (The area where the rebels are fighting now). Galicia was always anti-Russian as it was raped and has mentality of slaves to empires for 700 years. Astro-hungarian empire made up the current ukrainian language for the Galicians and they have been trying to spread this to the rest of ukraine. Out of the 50 million people less than 2 million supported Maidan. All their problems stem from the fact that Galicia is too different than malorossya and especially novorossya. The Junta Kiev government has Galician mentality and they are trying to spread this on completely different thinking people in the east.

    • @beataj3382
      @beataj3382 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      joh do I disagree with you totally. If someone talk with person which that you do not accept it doesn't mean that this person don't like you. These are your subjective feelings.
      And by the way I see you trying to say something derogatory about Simon example, "He deserved to be held longer, they should have kept him"

    • @revisionisthistories
      @revisionisthistories 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bet J Of course they should have, yes these are subjective feelings towards a person who is subjective. If you go to a war zone and be subjective and derogatory like he is, then sorry but he deserved being held there and should have been held longer. Simon hates Russia, that's all it is and will only report bad things about the pro-Russian situation. Again, if you do not know the Russian language, you do not understand how he treats both sides of the conflict. He is not objective period. This can be seen just from the dispatches, let alone if you understand Russian when he speaks to the people.

    Can any of these people here blaming the rebels and Russia just give ONE reasonable argument as to why would the rebels shoot this plane down and what would that bring them, how would they profit from it?

    • @Zealotux
      @Zealotux 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      For weeks before the accident the rebels were being very vocal and proud of the fact they had shot-down many Ukrainian aircrafts, they even continued doing so after. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ukrainian_aircraft_losses_during_the_War_in_Donbass
      They thought they had shot down a military aircraft first and freaked out when they arrived at the crash site and found out it was civilian, they are plenty of videos that are proof of that. I understand you may be pro-Russian side, but at that point you could have some honesty and decency for the deceased and their family.

    • @searaider2571
      @searaider2571 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Zealotux I am sorry for every life lost, whether it is an innocent civilian or a soldier in the battlefield. All I am saying is that the West would blame the pro-russian side for everything bad in this war or even outside of it, even if they had nothing to do with it in reality. If you are telling me that it isnt so, then you are naive.

    • @skeidatv644
      @skeidatv644 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@searaider2571 Does that change the reality of what happened with MH17? All I'm seeing is victim-blaming done by supporters and sympathizers of terrorist groups who've downed a commercial airliner. It clearly was an accident, but not that it would be relevant since the tokens of Russia's dying foreign influence (that call themselves 'separatists') operate illegally on a soil of a sovereign state with a government running on a set of international and national laws that forbid activities such as seen on this video. If the "Pro-Russian" side wishes the West to stop condemning their actions, give up arms and let the planes fly. It's as simple as that.

    • @tiadaid
      @tiadaid 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The rebels are dumb and didn't know the difference between a passenger aircraft and a Ukrainian military aircraft. Because they were idiots, they shot down the plane thinking that it will hurt the Ukrainians.
