      @@cacogenicist Might want to take hint as to my relationship with Portland from my account name. How about learning everything from living in and around Portland for 20 years. Watching a vibrant city go through 100 nights of riots, watching elected officials enable homeless addicts take over the city while ignoring the needs of the homeless with mental health issues. Watching the majority demand the defunding of the police and then whine about the uptick in crime. I know plenty about Portland from witnessing it.

    Considering the relatively small size for an international airport, the ease of getting in and out of the place, the pretty damn spiffy new renovations, the very clean and modern bathrooms, the high quality food options -- and better coffee than 98% of airports in the world -- PDX might be the most pleasant international airport in the States now.
    I think it will definitely be the case once they're fully done with the place.

    There were kind of 3 phases. They had to decommission the "A" gates (ick terrible place to be) and open the 'new' B gates (basically all Horizon flights for Alaska passengers). Apparently this was one positive of the COVID-19 pandemic as it allowed them to do this phase more quickly.
    The new "B" gates area is lovely to wait in, with local coffee establishment "GOOD" on the level with the gates and just up the escalator a version of local favorite Southern restaurant Screen Door.
    In 2024-2026 this will now take a little more time to reach as Alaska will be building a new elite flyer lounge on the soon to be constructed mezzanine above the former TSA and concessions lobby for the B/C gates and a pedestrian concourse will be used from the new checkpoint to reach this area.
    (However, all B/C/D/E gates are all now re-connected past TSA, no more exit and re-entry necessary)

      Ha ha. Imagine what the people in the 1940s would say if they looked into the future. They’d probably have a coronary. But I get it. Sometimes it’s nice to fly in comfy clothes. Ha ha.🙂

    Does KCM have no metal detector or X-ray?

    • @valenciaflyer
      @valenciaflyer  28 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Hello Brent. Thank you for the question.
      So KCM does not have a metal detector when you are able to go straight through. But when they randomly select you for a screening, then you cannot go straight through and must go through the scanners. That is what we call getting ‘randomed’.
      So it’s a 50-50 on whether you’re going to be selected.
      Hope that helps. Thank you for watching and have a great day.😄

    This does not follow the 'keep PDX weird' mantra. Looks like those 6 lumber mills that closed
    this past year jumped the gun.

      @valenciaflyer  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hello there. I don’t know about the lumber yards closing, but I do know that these pieces were created at least five years ago. So I don’t know if there’s any association with that.
      Thanks for watching! 😊

    Let's see. Public access. Bench seating. Power outlets. Front door Max service. This place is going to be crawling with bums when the weather turns....
