You’re having an amazing time, enjoy every single moment and thank you for sharing. As always your enthusiasm and energy is infectious.
Hello! I have my F2F in a week. Can you recommend the kind of articles you used to prepare? Thank you!
I have almost been flying as a flight attendant for a year. I have not had the opportunity to really do any international travel mainly due to my base and obvious lack of seniority.
Im really happy America is "still, can building " great infrastructure i hope it is just the starting . Wishing the best to USA ❤ from India .
But you did it, well done you. You are amazing, you’re loving the dream.
Congratulations on the PDX transfer. I"m sure that you are enjoying the no commute.
Great to see you again online V! I'm waking up at night thinking about the training coming up for me early next year. I wish I would have gotten a phone number or two from the hiring event so I could have stayed in touch with others who are in the same situation. It's a bit difficult to not go out and learn things online. Airlines are all different and I don't want to capture the wrong details. I'm not with Delta, but it does look like you're enjoying yourself! I'll give a quick hello if we pass in the terminal someday. Funny thing is on a flight back from Sea Tac to PDX I met a flight attendant who's on another TH-cam interview. Sweet person, she was surprised as I was! Travel safe, R
All help to build this for all of you!
Im starting a crash pad BWI airport may expand. Im starting but years married to a pilot, knowing flight attendants and poor conditions the fatigue safety needs, i am creating a home for people to be rested and work and balance work/life. I want to build with advise from those who need -
That’s great. I hope the tips on this channel help you provide a safe, clean and inviting environment for your FA’s crash pad. Thanks for watching.😄
Wow! I really appreciate the knowledge you're putting out for us trying to get into the industry. No one else is providing this content, especially a man with a family point of view.
Hey there, Michael. Thank you so much for the comment. I really appreciate it. I do my best to help out where I can especially for those who are considering this career. Hope you’re well. Have a good one.😁
Great content. Thank you. I have a CTO for January 2025
That’s fantastic. Congratulations. I’m sure you’re gonna knock it out of the park. Can’t wait to see you on the line. Have a great day.😄
Nice update! Interesting to hear about the changes with the PDX base and how that impacts your seniority at SEA.
Thanks much for the comment. Yes lots of updates as FA life goes on. I’ll have another update for you guys soon with more changes and new ideas on how to maximize a career as an FA. Hope you’re well.😄
Love Chicago🤍
It is a great city with so much to do. I do enjoy my layovers there every time.😊
Ur living in the future with each roster is so so so true . N time flies FAST.
I know. It’s crazy. Lol. I was thinking it was November for the last week. Ha ha.😂
Question: Do you use or do other FA's use laundry services during a layover to freshen up your uniforms? If so when would this make the most sense?
Good question I personally have never used laundry services from a hotel. I try to take everything I need at the beginning of a trip. That being said, there have been two times where I have had to use a laundromat outside the hotel because my trip was extended. Doesn’t always happen but sometimes it does. That is why I now take laundry detergent pellets and quarters with me everywhere I go, lol.
@@valenciaflyer 😁Never know! Was curious. Thank you and I'll definitely take your pods advice! Never would have thought of it.
PDX!!! Congratulations V!!! Great looking terminal too yes!!
Hey there, Mr. Robb. Yes I got a monthly transfer to PDX. For the month of October, but it is a new experience for me. I’ll be back in Seattle for November. Have a great day.😊
@@valenciaflyer I heard about those and happy you're a bit closer to home, at least for a while. I flew out of PDX yesterday and love the new terminal. I'm hoping to get Portland or SeaTac but...one never knows.
VF, yeah, the downside of seniority when senior people switch bases, everyone in the base they go to either less seniority suddenly see their base positions fall. Know you enjoyed seeing class mates. Having gone to training myself, I know the strength of the bonding that occurs and stays. Stay safe and STAY seated during turbulence, no matter what call buttons are lighted. Herman
Hey there, Herman. Great to hear from you. Yes that is the sad side effect of seniority sometimes. But it’s all good, we work through it. It’s always a treat to see classmates on the when you least expect it. That will never get old. Hope you’re doing well, my friend. 😄
I cant wait to understand all the acronyms! Whats ADY1? Great videos V and as always fly safe
Thank you so much! Ady1 translates to one of your adays or on call days. They are counted backwards so if you get 3 adays then it would like like this on your schedule: ady3, ady2 ady1 Again depending on the airline you’re with. 😁
@@valenciaflyer Ah! Thank you
Currently on ADY1 right now.
Did you get sent anywhere?
@@valenciaflyer nope I got paid to sit at home.
Also...about how long did it take you to get the hang of knowing your schedule and then understanding what you described here? Thanks V.
Believe it or not I’m still learning something new. But I had the basics down in a couple months. It’s good to talk with your managers and other FAs to learn the cool tricks and secrets! 😃
How long after graduation can you do those swaps?
From my understanding right away. It will depend on your airline and the system. The only thing I had to wait 6 months for was to be a flight leader.
I just went thru the new phase a couple weeks ago. It was a nightmare. All check ins are via a kiosk. You weigh your own luggage, tag it etc. then you wait in a 45 minute zig zag line to get to security. Another 15 mins to get thru security check. Thankfully I arrived very early for my flight. The gate that I was flying out of wasn’t clearly marked and I had to get help with that. I’m heading back to Oregon in a couple weeks and I’m hoping they have worked out the kinks. Also, if you fly via Alaska, give yourself even more time, the B gate is quite the trek. The signs for gate B said concourse B which had me confused too. Notice all the zig zag lines….when I was there, they were full. I looked for a video like this one to hopefully help me with my next trip.
Oh wow. Sounds challenging! So sorry for the hassle. Hopefully they will work out the kinks soon! 😅
I thought you were going to say #1 was the passport 😅 and then I was like, wait, you can wear headphones when working?!? 🤔 Eventually realized this was leisure travel 🧳😂
Is A-day a standby at airport or home standby?
Great question. It can be either or. If you preference for a stand standby then you can go to the airport. This is very useful for commuters. If you live in base, then you might as well wait at home for them to call you. Hope that helps.
As a Detroiter, I was waiting on your top one!! So glad we made the list!
Yes, I love DTW. Great airport. I’m even considering transferring back for a while next year.
It is a companion of young people's fashion trends luxrul
For sure. It’s a great bag that looks stylish as well. 😄
Congrats 🎉🍾
Thank you so much! 😊
We called it J FING K, when I was with JetBlue. I'm sure you have heard that expression!!!
Haha. Totally. It’s like the roulette wheel of the airport industry! Lol. 😂
I was waiting for ATL 😂
Ha ha. True. At least ATL makes some sort of sense even though it’s crazy there. Ha ha.
Ward Center
Awesome Video I love Airplane trave I usually fly on Alaska our Southwest I am planning on plane spotting at PDX next month:)
That’s great. I’m sure you’ll enjoy PDX once you visit! 😃
@@valenciaflyer If only they had more heavey planes but at least PDX has better views then Seatac by far LOL
This is pure FA Gold...thank you for the share and keeping it real
Hey, thank you for watching! I appreciate your comment. Hope things are well with you. 😁
This will be my last career as well
For sure! It’s a great one to end with! 😁
Well done and thank you for sharing!
Thanks as always for watching! I’ve got more cities coming soon. 🌃
The airport looks beautiful.
It’s very nice. And more to come in the next year or two. 👍
Thank you so much! Please wish me luck for United Airlines! Waiting for a 1:1 and then I’m hoping for SFO
All the best to you. Please let us know how it goes!! 😀🙏
While you're describing fairly common practice, this isn't actually the underlying regulation. FAA and EASA require one flight attendant per 50 passenger seats (Australia per 36 seats). Aircraft with 19 seats or fewer are not required to carry cabin crew. This means that e.g. an A321, 737-9, or 757-200 could fly with four FAs if fitted with 200 or fewer seats, but 201+ seats requires five. It's similar with the 734, 738, and A320 which are sometimes fitted with up to 150 seats (particularly in premium-heavy configurations) and can therefore fly with only three cabin crew. Aircraft certified after 2017 need to have cabin crew data included in the certification documents. These override the above rule-of-thumb. Many new widebodies have a requirement for a minimum of two crew per pair of exit doors.
Cool!😎
We’re the assessment/tests questions multiple choices or you had to write a sentence?
Best I can remember is that they are mostly multiple choice. 😀
Have you considered FA instructor? You'd be a great instructor
@@cherieharris1982 Thanks for saying that. I have actually thought of it. Still year away from being eligible but it is something I would entertain. 😁
From the day the application opened and video interview, F2F and until CJO, how long did the process take?
For me I put in my application in April and I was in the line working as a full time FA by August! Pretty quick. But I don’t think that’s the norm. It will all depend on the airlines needs and when you put in your application. I’ve also heard that I took people almost a year to do what I did in 4-5 months. Thanks for the great question. 😃
Do you know anyone who got newly hired around 60 yrs old? With or without airlines experiences?
Yes. Many people. And it’s their first airline ever too.
I love your video, you go straight to the topic and I love it. I speak several languages. Can you apply first as regular FA as you want to have flexibility to switch your base and then after you got hired, can you take the language test to become a LOD?
Yes. I believe you can totally do that. Depending on your airline and their need for an LOD of course. Just know that it’s usually a commitment of several years so inform yourself first.
Thank you!! Lol…right before i watched this i JUST finished saving the top 20 airport codes my airline flys too. Ugg…i need to relax
Haha. I totally get it. I did the same thing!
