This is a disjointed mess of a video. It’s as if y’all never visited the airport or never looked at the LAWA website. You seemed to just grab video and pictures and throw it in a video. The video doesn’t line up with the narrative. You talk about terminal 6 and show video of Delta (terminal 2 or 3), which you don’t talk about at all. That’s just one example.
@melovetorun violent crime is among the lowest levels on record in LA currently. of course its important to continue to address crime and make it safer but its really not as bad as you think
Yes. And he doesn't mention the LAX Metro Transit Center Station. He only makes a vague passing comment about connecting to the metro. That was a huge oversight. He talked more about escalators and street changes. He didnt even bother to show a picture of the HUGE station.
Honestly the traffic at LaX is really bad BUT the rest of the airport is a great experience (now). TSA lines are the quickest of any airport I've been too. Direct flights everywhere.
Totally agree, I took a Hawaiian Airlines flight in 2014 and TSA was a complete nightmare, but last November I took an international flight to Ireland and was bracing myself to die in that line, yet it was completely painless. Maybe it was just unlucky the first and lucky the second, but I've heard similar responses from others. Traffic was still a nightmare in November, though. I really can't wait for all the public transit connectors (and am grateful they are rail and not bus)
It's going to instantly switch from the worst airport in the country to one of the best once these updates are done. It's only local access that still has it being trash today.
I use to work at LAX on the actual airfield. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve seen an aircraft stand still on a taxiway for over 30 minutes after they arrive waiting for a gate to open up.
AT MINUTE 8:08 IT SHOWS A RED ROAD THAT WILL REPLACE THE ONE COMING FROM SEPULVEDA AND LINCOLN TO TERMINAL 1, IT WILL GO ALL AROUND TO ENTER THOUGH CENTURY IT SEEMS IT WILL TAKE CARS LONGER TO ACCESS TERMINALS , DO YOU AGREE ?
There are 2 main issues: lack of gates and bad terminal designs. I don't work at LAX but fly to it all the times, and yes my flights always came early but were held on the tarmac and I became late when exiting the terminal.
as an employee here whats complete, midfield concourse is done, Terminal 3 is being rebuilt now, 3 hangers Delta,United,Qantas Airlines and the Train for Rental cars is a few months away cant wait for those busses to get off the Streets here...
Hey there, thanks for the insider perspective! Glad to hear the Midfield Concourse is finished - that's a big one! It's exciting to see Terminal 3 getting its makeover too. And those new hangars and the rental car train are going to be game-changers for sure.
Thanks for a great video. This helps explain why LAX has been a massive construction zone for the past few years, and will be for the next few years. Hopefully with all the connectivity once these projects are done, LAX will be an airport worthy of praise.
The amount of negative Nancies in the comments is incredible. No matter what they do people love to complain about everything. Those talking about homelessness, what does that have to do with this?
if you live in LA you know the metro is full of homeless & crazies.. just connecting it directly to LAX will now give access to the homeless. I live at the end of the gold line, I can tell you since Metro connected it to the blue line we have even more homeless that are dumped here at the end of the night, same with long beach , same with the metro when connected to Santa Monica...Look what happened to the promenade.. everywhere that Metro connects brings in the Homeless & the Crazies and crime.
But it's quite hilarious and bizarre to read commenters criticizing an airport upgrade with complaints about homelessness which has abolutely nothing to do one another. But that must speak very well of the LAX plan that the criticism resorts to something completely random.
I am sure that it is very warranted! Having traveled extensively - this plan makes little to no sense!! Every major airport in the world has at the very minimum manageable public transportation access. The fact that the metro train (subway in most places) stops a mile from the airport where you must transfer to a "peoplemover" then once again exit and walk some distance to a terminal is at the very least time consuming and irrational!! Locals will choose to continue to use their cars since it will be completely more efficient!!
@@tangoxraysierraLAX is not in “3rd world condition” by any stretch of the imagination It’s a perfectly modern, functional airport, one that needs some optimization to increase efficiency in passenger movement… which they’re working on by building the people mover, etc
LAX was long overdue for a renovation and if it takes an Olympics to do it then good. I never liked that airport and the lack of public transportation in LA. It’s slowly getting better
I have been traveling from NY to LA during the past two years. Is a very busy airport. But I was surprised how they manage passengers to go through security really fast . Extremely well coordinated 👍.LAX is functional even with the construction challenges. I’m sure I’ll be much better when they finish the expansion. I have been lucky with traffic also .
I used to be a direct flight snob until I moved to LA. Now I refuse to use LAX and use the smaller airports. Getting to and through LAX is awful, stressful and a huge time waste. I am hopeful that all this money and thought actually helps. Time will tell. Awesome video.
Hey, thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! It's true, LAX can be a bit of a beast to navigate. We're really hoping these changes make things easier and less stressful for everyone.
I would say getting to and from LAX is the real issue. Inside it moved fairly quickly. Especially with TSA Prech/Global Entry. It also has great dining options. But the ride in and out? Awful every single time.
I really do not understand this, I have probably taken 20 international flights out of LAX since 2017 & I have never experienced any significant issues, short delays sure but nothing major.....I think the key for me has always been using the Van Nuys Flyaway bus to get in and out.....No on should be driving into LAX for pick up or drop off
@@getthewordout3669 Same here. I take public transit to Union Station and FlyAway. I've never had a single issue in about 20 flights. Everyone likes to talk about how terrible LAX is, but even when I've had to pick people up it's been smooth as can be expected.
The plan is quite good and very needed.. Having a transit center a certain distance from the airport means you no long have to enter the traffic making mess that is the LAX horseshoe anymore. I like that you have just one simply transit center, where people have the option to decide how to leave without going to a different terminal, whether it be by taxi, uber, bus or train, or pick ups.
Hey, thanks for the positive feedback on the plan! We totally agree that the new transit center will be a huge improvement. It'll definitely make getting to and from LAX much easier and less stressful, without having to deal with all that traffic around the terminals. Having everything in one place is definitely a smart move.
@@MegaBuilds5280Indeed, too bad you never mentioned the LAX Metro Transit Center Station in the video. It was a huge oversight, especially since you had so much good detailed information about other aspects of the LAX improvements. I did like the video though and appreciate the obvious work that was put into it. My criticism is meant to be constructive, not punitive in nature. If it comes across that way, that wasn't my intention at all.
You might not have faith in LAX Airport, but the individual airlines have a history of completing these new terminal projects on time. LaGuardia Airport has been completely remodeled in a couple of years.
Great video. Housing is a significant component of this plan. With LAX’s $14Bn plan and Metro’s $52Bn plan, fixing the housing problem is essential to making this all workable.
In my experience living in LA county since the 90s, LAX has had its ups and downs, but overall it's way better than before. Looking forward to even more improvements.
LAX needs to do what Vancouver 🇨🇦 did before its Olympics (winter 2010) ->> build dedicated high speed rail connection from airport to downtown. Takes tens of thousands of people off the roads per hour.
For what? To get from LAX to Skidrow? Most of us are traveling north to the Valley or cities in between. Nobody is going downtown unless they are going to the convention center or coroner’s office.
Dude it’s not an opinion. You don’t seem to know much about LA if you think a high speed rail from the airport to DT which is not the heart of LA. The venues for these sporting events would be sprawled all around the gigantic spread out metropolis. When people visit LA, they stay in Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Santa Monica, Venice, the South Bay, and other places. Not necessarily downtown. Vancouver is much smaller and condensed than LA. A train from the airport to DT where people don’t really go to is not a solution
@@rotflcopterr you’re correct! it’s like the train they are building at LAX. If you spend as much time at LAX as me, you will notice they have the outer 2 lanes closed for shuttles only, however there’s usually never any shuttles in the outer lanes and you’ll find most shuttles clogging the inner lanes, for the last 5 years. Anyone can spend some time at LAX and realize they’ve created a problem that doesn’t exist as badly as they perceive it to the average Joe. They should’ve taken down the 50 year old, 3 level parking garage structures one at a time and rebuilt them taller with better traffic control and opened additional lanes on the ground level below the structures for shuttles and ride share. It would’ve been cheaper and a better outcome. The best part of LAX was walking out to the curb and not having to take a damn train to a parking lot or ride share somewhere else.
Good video, but you forgot to mention that the LAX People Mover will be connected to the LA Metro. Finally, allowing passengers to go to and from LAX via the LA Metro. The LAX APM will connect to a new, under construction, LAX Metro Transit Center station. It will be the largest station on the network outside of Union Station. The C and K LRT lines will be at the lower level, and the LAX APM will be on the upper level. This station is located just West of the CONRAC mentioned in the video, and one of the biggest differences in how passengers will access LAX and the new APM. In fact, many of the recent improvements already in place have made a positive difference in using LAX. The experience has improved noticeably in the last several years and will continue improving as these various projects are completed. Dropped off a friend visiting from Spain this week, and LAX looks physically very different now. The facades of almost all the terminals now have a unifying Mid Century Modern design aesthetic that compliments the original Theme Building. I would venture to say that LAX is going from an ugly duckling to a beautiful swan. The transformation should be complete by the early 2030s.
@@starventure nope, so lax terminals -> people mover -> LA Metro Transit Center transfer to K Line -> transfer to E Line -> transfer to A line in DT to get to Union Station alternatively: similar start except taking C line -> transfer to A line
Hey man, when was the last time you visited LAX? The terminals are no longer disconnected. You can walk, inside of security, all the way from Terminal 1 to Terminal 8. Narrow hallways? Only the tunnels that provide shortcuts under the parking garages, which very few passengers ever need to use. Crumbling terminals? Where? Every terminal I'm familiar with has been recently updated, and is modern, clean, with plenty of seating and amenities. Yes, it does need a tram. (I clocked a 2 mile walk last week when a gate change from the International Terminal to Terminal 1 was mistakenly posted. And it's just over a mile walk from the International Terminal to the Lyft/Uber pickup zone.) The tram is under construction, and the track appears to be nearly complete. And yes, it's the worst handling of Lyft/Uber of any US airport I frequent. And yes, it's also the worst handling of rental cars of any US airport I frequent. A few days ago, between the time my plane touched down, and my driving away from Avis-where I'm a preferred member, and I can immediately claim my car (so, no wait)-it was 61 minutes. But far worse than any of that was the 8-mile, 1-hour drive up the 405. To my mind, Los Angeles has a lot more to worry about on that score, than about anything at LAX.
I’m so glad you posted this because when I was watching this video, I was like, “Huh?” LAX is nothing like he was describing. Plus, those video clips looked extremely outdated.
Hey there! Thanks for sharing your firsthand experience at LAX. It sounds like you're a frequent traveler, and we appreciate your insights. It's great to hear about the positive changes you've noticed. We'll definitely keep those updates in mind for future videos. We agree with you about the need for the tram - those long walks can be tough, especially with luggage. It's good to know it's nearing completion! And you're spot on about the Lyft/Uber and rental car situations. Hopefully, those areas will see improvements soon as well. Thanks again for your thoughtful comment!
Other than a train through that Sepulveda pass, the 405 will be the 405. That 8 mile stretch is a regional change from the basin to 70 miles of Valley suburbia .It's like 2 million people south of that stretch and nearly 3 million people north of that stretch .
The people-move and new rental car center are going to be HUGE! When I rented a car at LAX I was surprised I had to take a shuttle bus and ride it for about 5 minutes just to get to where the rentals are. For a major airport like LAX it's surprising that they don't already have these two things. Definitely will reduce traffic by a considerable amount
Last time I flew into LAX, it took more than two hours to be readmitted to my own country, and then I had to deal with ground transportation, which has been moved completely away from the airport. It's a nightmare.
This is a much-needed upgrade. The traffic was horrible and if your flight was delayed, there was nothing to do, eat and nowhere to go. I can't wait to fly in to the new and improved LAX
By 2028 LAX is expected to receive 90-95 million passengers per year. It’s is like the 15 freeway in Cajon pass( that’s a road from LA to Las Vegas), the more improvements you make the more traffic it’s creates
Also linking to the train system will be amazing, so many times I have had a lay over there and never wanted to leave because I didn't want to deal with the bus system or a taxi, but I'm a train buff and it's nice to just hope on a train and go downtown or do something without worrying about traffic and stuff getting back.
So they are finally making it functional like San Francisco’s airport. SFO is a breeze, and the food options are great. The Harvey Milk Terminal is the best one we’ve been in and we’ve been to airports all over the world.
Thank heavens for the Olympics, forcing this city to get off its behind and get this done! The LAX experience is the worst thing about living in or visiting LA. Once you're there it's pretty nice, but oh my the traffic!
Just to be clear these renovations and expansions were planned well in advance of the Olympics. In fact, LA wanted the 2024 games originally, not the 2028 games. However, LA has been able to leverage hosting the Olympics to get some federal funding sooner rather than later which is a good thing. LA has built more public transit infrastructure in the last 34 years than any other city in the USA. They've been off their butts and building for decades.
@@skk3940 Paris is also infamous for homelessness and crime. It just gets a pass because it's culturally important and beautiful. Both cities are doing their best to take care of their people and improve, but these issues take a lot of time and have a lot of walls to overcome.
The test of an airport is "if dropped into any point in the airport, can you figure out exactly where you are and where you need to go without walking more that 10 ft?" And LAX fails this test. There are very few signs. And in many cases the signs are confusing. So they didn't do testing. You have to test signage just as you'd test software.
That's actually a great test suggestion, lol. Wayfinding is a huge part of airport design, but it sounds like LAX might've missed the mark on this one. Out of curiosity, which airport do you think would actually pass that 10-foot test?
@@MegaBuilds5280 Incheon and Narita airports would pass from my experience. Generally in east asia they are great at placing signs correctly and with the right information. This just seems to be something America can't figure out. I don't know why. Nobody yells at people in Korea or Japan airports but in most US airports the TSA yells constantly at people. It makes no sense.
LAX has been under construction for nearly a decade. Half of the 8 terminals have already been renovated, remodeled and upgraded. They are work on the last few and added yet another small concourse to the international terminal which going quickly due to pre fab construction.
Terminal renovations sound good, but the biggest problem with LAX is the traffic once you arrive at the airport. If you've ever driven into LAX you'll be greeted by overcrowded, narrow lanes, with these huge shuttles (almost buses) that try to cram themselves into spaces only a mini could fit. Of the numerous times I've been there, I've actually been hit once with the shuttle driver not even glancing in my direction, and cutoff or blocked innumerable times. They need to ban 3rd party shuttles from the airport drives completely. Have them park outside the airport and then shuttle them in on reasonably sized airport shuttles or the people mover mentioned in the video.
Better than sending $14 billion to pointless wars across the globe. Our airports have been truly outdated compared to others in the world so I hope this makes LAX a better experience
As an LA area resident, it always seems like there is construction going on in and around LAX but not much changes. It will be nice to have more comprehensive changes on a grand scale that hopefully can solve those nagging congestion problems.
Yea it's called being the place all the billionaires across the world want property. There are enough empty homes to house all the homeless and crime is pretty low. So to fix the homeless problem u could incentivizw the billionaires to rent or sell whatever is empty but that could crash their housing market so it's really not a ton to do. Cali has better schools, a higher percentage of people with healthcare, and way better public transit than Texas or Florida and they have always been crazy expensive. They could build housing for homeless but nobody wants then near where they live. Final point, Cali residents give more to federal govt than they get back unlike poor red states like Alabama and Mississippi so really they could fix some of their problems if some states would pull their weight better... and with the exception of NM I think all the states that get back more than they give are red and they still have developing country levels of infrastructure in places.
LAX is not as bad as you say the only narrow hall ways are the tunnels . Unattached terminals is only a couple which I believe is getting connected.i fly a lot . Since my daughter was twelve she played hockey all over the USA and Canada . She a senior in college now. So I fly every weekend during hockey season then about one a month after the season over. I haveTSA pre check . It never taken more than five minutes for TSA. Chicago and Detroit take 2x to 3x as long. Now driving through the loop is the biggest problem . But as you say once the people mover done . There won’t be any traffic. They’ve got a lot of the terminals done . But how large it is. Isn’t that bad
LAX, just like everything else here is a big disaster that never ends. I always wonder how other countries or cities make entire cities from the ground up and we can't even get a permit to change a window here in LA. The permitting process all the rules, policies, paperwork, clearances, testing, studies and everything else take so long and are so restrictive, nothing good gets built or when it does, it's so expensive and takes forever that is outdated or unaccessible. The 5 freeway has been in a never ending construction since I was born, it's in constant construction mode, never ends, ever.
the design of a horseshoe driving experience is just the worst design ever! I travel a couple times per month from LAX and it is an awful airport. truly one of the worst airport experiences in the world
As a now-retired flight attendant based at LAX for over 20 years, I agree. I've been to every major city in North America. LAX is the worst. However, Atlanta is a neck in neck 2nd worse airport in North America.
@@Niteowlettewell considering Lax and Atl airports are the 2 busiest in the US, the infrastructure was never built to handle 75 million people a year. 1:21
@@Niteowlette i honestly hope with the addition of the Metro line being added and the “people mover” it’ll help control congestion inside terminals and outside drop offs and pick ups. i DESPISE the Rideshare pickup because while it might have helped with extra traffic inside for pickups, they still allow drops offs and the shuttles are infrequent and always packed
Fun doco! I make it by business to avoid LAX like rabies! I flew into LAX eight(?) years ago, probably longer and it really was a freak show at the terminal next to Tom Bradley. I had been warned even back then to save myself the tears. Wise advice. ONT is quite a drive, but it makes up for it as an easy, quick and sometimes cheaper way to sneak into the Southland. Many of the cynical natives of the City of the Angles believe that is is a Make Work job just building and tearing down the airport on a schedule. A case could be made for this opinion. Keep 'em comin'! LA is such an odd and weirdly wonderful in a Bennie and the Jets-sort of way--and there is always something going on. Always.
They still working on a train rail for the past 10 years and cost over 100 billion dollars so far, You expect them to do this and be on time. Good luck with that.
what are you talking about? I use LAX almost exclusively and haven t waited in a security queue for more than 10 minutes in more than a decade; the terminals are clean and have good amenities and lounges and yes there is traffic getting there but that's also CGD, LAX, IST, etc.
Fortunately I live closer to one of the smaller regional airports so don't have to use LAX. The first time I was ever there I was actually just in transit, domestic to international. To transfer, I had to experience what LA is best at: traffic. Stuck in traffic in a shuttle for 45 minutes just to transfer from one terminal to another! It's LA's version of Las Vegas's slot machines in the terminals?
All terminals connect now! You can walk from T1 to T8 without leaving the secured area… T1-T2-T3-TBIT-T4-T5-T6-T7-T8.. One big U shape walkways, bridges & tunnels connect as one.
I've lived in the greater Los Angeles area for 41 of my 45 years of life. I don't remember one day where LAX wasn't under construction. This monorail (or whatever) that they are building is intriguing. If there is a way for those dropping people off and picking them up to be able to do that away from the airport and not have their loved ones assaulted or robbed, after you leave or while they are waiting to get picked up, that would be just the chef's kiss for that pit of despair called "LAX".
Hopefully, all these new constructions reduce travel time entering, and leaving the airport. Otherwise, it’s a mess forever. They should also have different entry and exits for international, and domestic airlines as well similar to SFO.
If they can bring back some of the fast food restaurants instead of these mom and pop restaurants that many people don't care for. I, for one, want a quick bite and get the food quickly instead of sitting down to drink and dine. Also, the choice of the current restaurants are really limited.
Working at LAX metro transit center which is the terminal station of APM. APM side is completed. Metro side still being worked on. Metro will have the overhead lines permanently energized. Across street from us is ITF East, which I believe will be a parking structure. CONRAC behind that is complete but sits empty. Tom Bradley international terminal already has expansion known as MSC, midfield satellite concourse. North and south. South is all prefabbed buildings. Concourse 0 is being built for southwest is being done. United already has their state of art Hangar, which fits super jets. Only Qantas and Korean air regularly fly jumbo airbuses. Still won't fix LAX. Even cities with half of LAs size has two or three airports. LAX tries to do it all, and tried to kill its regional rivals. When the half the airport faces the ocean, the entire population has to approach from the East. South is blocked by s a full sized refinery, one of the largest water treatment plants in the US. And the historically corrupt LA city departments will do everything to impede construction.
Im from Los Angeles, and I fly about 15 times a year out of LAX. All the footage used in this video is old. Other Terminals were added a couple years back pretty much fixed everything already. All the new things that are being done are for the new train and rental car area. The airport is getting upgraded but its not hard to get in or out and theres really not much traffic or waiting at all. Video is creator is ill inmofrmed.
They got it LA CAN , I mean the metro expansion over the years has been incredible the city is getting closer to becoming for humans rather then for cars SOCAL WEATHER IS TOOO BEAUTIFUL TO SIT IN A CAR
Lack of modern and fast public transportation combined with an enlarged capacity means caos in traffic. As for what it really serves (fly people in and out) nothing will matter of TBIT keeps short staffed in immigration and TSA all over the complex. I’ve lost a connection out of an international with a 4 hour layover because of understaffed immigration.
I have taken at least 20 international flights in and out of LAX(home airport) with very few delays or issues, many of those were during peak seasons (May to Sept) For me the key has been using the Van Nuys or Union Station flyaway bus to get in and out
No matter how much money they spend at LAX, it still will not fix its major shortcoming: getting to and from the terminals; i know, since I worked there for 30+ years and I have not seen any improvements: restaurants are horrible, anything you buy there is super overpriced, lousy service everywhere, you name it, LAX is bad. I recently drove my daughter to the airport and after entering the tunnel coming from the south, it took an hour to arrive at her terminal (we’re talking about a distance of less than a mile).
It's about time LAX is upgraded. The state of LAX is disgraceful considering it's the second busiest airport in America, and is the first thing you see when flying into LA. As a local I would much rather fly out of BUR, but there are limits to using this airport. LAX will finally be the shining star it deserves to be after all the upgrades are complete.
LA needs a new airport. As a SoCal resident, I absolutely hate going to LAX. Im willing to pay $300 more and a possible connector in an airline ticket at John Wayne Airport to avoid LAX.
I’ve got a great idea, how about airlines start spreading some of their flights over the other 3 airports in LA and Orange County(Hollywood/Burbank, Long Beach, and John Wayne). I’m sure there are people that would rather fly into those if they weren’t so expensive.
Those other airports with the exception of Ontario have limits on the number of flights and types of aircraft coming out of their airports due to local noise restrictions. They can handle a maximum number of flights and capacity. Ontario will be the future for more flights domestic and internationally.
Absolutely! The People Mover will have a dedicated station connecting to the LAX/Metro Transit Center, where you can hop on the Metro's Green Line (C Line) or Crenshaw/LAX Line (K Line). This will make it much easier to get to and from the airport using public transportation. Thanks for watching it!
I travel a lot around the world and let me tell you, LAX is not that bad. The only thing I hate is the Uber LAX-IT buses. We definitely need a better solution for ride share and taxi pickups. Other than that, I find it pretty efficient compared to other airports.
Currently there is a huge obsession with JumboTron Halo screens in USA 😂 Specifically in stadiums. Can you do a video on Daktronics, the Halo screen builders for SoFi and Intuit dome?
I do hope they will finally upgrade this skid stain of an airport. Next to the previous LGA, this is the most dumpy US airport I’ve been to; MIA a seedy mess.
I don't understand the concern regarding these events in any given weekend in the fall, LA host NFL football games, Football games from UCLA and USC. and Dodger and MLS games. So moving masses of people across the region for sporting events is a typical weekend thing.
LA has the perfect weather all year round, great outdoors, hike in mountains or walk by the beach, great museums, recreational parks, amusements parks, live sports, concerts, dining. yeah traffic is bad, but most of other states have a horrible weather.
I’ve flown out of LAX quite a few times the last few years and ill say this: departing is no problem. I’ve never had issues departing the airport but arriving is AWFUL. Multiple times I have waited upwards of an hour or two for our craft to get to the gate. After a pleasant experience at John Wayne in OC, I prefer there and of course ONT since im from the IE. However, both airports are incredibly expensive compared to LAX, my flight one way to charlotte is 116$ at LAX compared to 350-450$ from ONT and John Wayne. Yeah ive lived here for 20 plus years, I can handle any of the BS california traffic pulls for that price difference.
I like the improvements I believe Los Angeles needs a second airport One international and one domestic Other major cities like Tokyo, Beijing and Bangkok has 2 airports.
I shifted to LA last year from Dubai. It was a shocker to see the condition of the airport. Hardly anyone helps and I still don't understand why is taxi stands and rentals a mile away. The shuttle bus system is ridiculous. Imagine having 6 bags, carrying around in small overfilled shuttle buses during peak traffic. Hope, LAX developments makes the system more efficient and effective.
There will always be construction at the airport. It's a world where nothing really gets finished. As far as the 2028 Olympics, these projects would have been completed whether or not the city was awarded the Olympics. The airport is there for the long term, like forever. The Olympics is something that just lasts a few weeks.
Having the Olympics in a country where infrastructure prioritizes cars is a recipe for some monumental traffic jams . Fixing the airport is the easy part .
watching this reminds me why i used to hate flying from Australia to the USA multiple times a year for decades. Thankfully not travelling as much as I used to, and towards the end would always try to go through Texas which was much better....... We may come to LA28 so have this horror awaiting. May try to fly through Hawaii or somewhere so we can avoid LAX
Very understandable. Try flying into San Francisco and connect to Burbank. Burbank is not that far from most of the Olympic venues, and is a safe city with several hotel options. I recommend the Holiday Inn. Although Burbank Airport is old and in need of a new terminal, it is far easier than LAX. Also, there is a direct Metrolink train to L.A. Union Station.
I've definitely experienced how annoying this airport has been multiple times coming back forth from Asia. It has been such a pain. Going out of terminals and having to start from the beginning mid journey has been very annoying. Not having to do that again would be very nice
LAX and JFK hands down top 2 worst airports in the US. I live in LA and I visit NY a lot...both got constructions going on right now...major pain in the ass
LAX needed this upgrade for a good generation. The Olympics coming is just an excuse to finish/upgrade it. Traffic is just part of the problem that won't change no matter what.

3 hours to go through customs to get into the country. 🤨
@@pukoh1523that’s normal at every airport in the US you know 9/11
The food is meh and the prices are astronomical.
Still happens. I also work at LAX
Yeah it’s LAX duh I’ve seen it at JFK, MEX just to name two. So calm down
It's this the future of flying in 2024?!! I don't think so!!!🤔🤔
as an employee here whats complete, midfield concourse is done, Terminal 3 is being rebuilt now, 3 hangers Delta,United,Qantas Airlines and the Train for Rental cars is a few months away cant wait for those busses to get off the Streets here...
Well, I’m personally speaking about the airport itself, in 3rd world condition. It was a dump 10 years ago when I travel to and from every week.
@@tangoxraysierraLAX is not in “3rd world condition” by any stretch of the imagination
It’s a perfectly modern, functional airport, one that needs some optimization to increase efficiency in passenger movement… which they’re working on by building the people mover, etc
There are no trains or subways that goes to the airport?
No LGA Airtrain. No Subway connection. No new runways. The new terminals were just lipstick on a pig.
Great video. Housing is a significant component of this plan. With LAX’s $14Bn plan and Metro’s $52Bn plan, fixing the housing problem is essential to making this all workable.
Housing is an issue, but it's not the responsibility of either LAX or LA Metro.
2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games will be EXCELLENT
In my experience living in LA county since the 90s, LAX has had its ups and downs, but overall it's way better than before. Looking forward to even more improvements.
LAX needs to do what Vancouver 🇨🇦 did before its Olympics (winter 2010) ->> build dedicated high speed rail connection from airport to downtown. Takes tens of thousands of people off the roads per hour.
For what? To get from LAX to Skidrow? Most of us are traveling north to the Valley or cities in between. Nobody is going downtown unless they are going to the convention center or coroner’s office.
@@CorbinWilliams nobody likes your opinion
@CorbinWilliams go home you're drunk
Splendid! Will there be a direct rail link from LAX to downtown LA/Union station when it is completed?
@@starventure nope, so lax terminals -> people mover -> LA Metro Transit Center transfer to K Line -> transfer to E Line -> transfer to A line in DT to get to Union Station

I was at lax international Airport, once checked in and walked almost 25 min to the terminal wtf
how did they miss this? who produces these crap click bait videos?
All the price we all have to pay for living in La La Land. # "We love it. We love it. I love LA ..."

A 5 min shuttle bus at LAX ?
It can take up to 30 to 40 mins to get around the horseshoe on the best conditions.
Opening up that parking lot by T1 for taxi service was a good move. But that new tram will definitely be a game changer for moving people around.
I’ve flown in and out of LAX probably half a dozen times and I’ve never had an issue. It’s been a great airport.
By 2028 LAX is expected to receive 90-95 million passengers per year. It’s is like the 15 freeway in Cajon pass( that’s a road from LA to Las Vegas), the more improvements you make the more traffic it’s creates
True. It wouldn't be the first time that LAX becomes a victim of its own success.
I’m an LA resident, and I am so happy the airport is being renovated
Also linking to the train system will be amazing, so many times I have had a lay over there and never wanted to leave because I didn't want to deal with the bus system or a taxi, but I'm a train buff and it's nice to just hope on a train and go downtown or do something without worrying about traffic and stuff getting back.
I am going to be a volunteer at the 2028 Summer Olympics. I would like to carry the Olympic Torch.
So they are finally making it functional like San Francisco’s airport. SFO is a breeze, and the food options are great. The Harvey Milk Terminal is the best one we’ve been in and we’ve been to airports all over the world.
14 billion is for this? Instead of the very out of control homeless situation? What the fuck?
This world is not about helping people it’s about what makes the most profit. Them helping the homeless won’t make them money so they’ll never do it.

Those types of vehicles will use the ITF West Station.
The world already descends on Los Angeles.
Looks impressive. I can't wait to see what they do with all the homeless, etc
$14BN in the toilet , city is facing way worse issues than just airport
JFK airport is so nice
If LAX can upgrade to that level if not better it will be a great start. The electric train is a great addition!
Looking forward to these renovations
LAX, just like everything else here is a big disaster that never ends. I always wonder how other countries or cities make entire cities from the ground up and we can't even get a permit to change a window here in LA. The permitting process all the rules, policies, paperwork, clearances, testing, studies and everything else take so long and are so restrictive, nothing good gets built or when it does, it's so expensive and takes forever that is outdated or unaccessible. The 5 freeway has been in a never ending construction since I was born, it's in constant construction mode, never ends, ever.
You can't even drive the 5 fwy anymore due to the potholes.
Can’t wait for the people mover
the design of a horseshoe driving experience is just the worst design ever! I travel a couple times per month from LAX and it is an awful airport. truly one of the worst airport experiences in the world

I drove by LAX late Feb 2024 late afternoon, it wasn't so bad.
All terminals connect now! You can walk from T1 to T8 without leaving the secured area… T1-T2-T3-TBIT-T4-T5-T6-T7-T8.. One big U shape walkways, bridges & tunnels connect as one.
The TSA lines are super quick. Each terminal has their own TSA. I’ve never had issues and really fast to get to gate. But that’s about it.😂
I've lived in the greater Los Angeles area for 41 of my 45 years of life.

Anything to improve the airport its welcome
Hopefully, all these new constructions reduce travel time entering, and leaving the airport. Otherwise, it’s a mess forever. They should also have different entry and exits for international, and domestic airlines as well similar to SFO.
@1:22 O’Hare is the second busiest in the US, not LAX
Whats the point?
Not true, Number 1 Atlanta easily and 2 LAX pretty easily as well.
Depends on how you measure it, but O’Hare is 2nd based on aircraft movements, but total passengers the #2 goes to DFW as of 23’ data
I'll believe it when I see it.
The traffic became worse when they decided to not allow Cars go in the inner lane in arrivals. That decision really screwed up the flow.
They got it LA CAN , I mean the metro expansion over the years has been incredible the city is getting closer to becoming for humans rather then for cars SOCAL WEATHER IS TOOO BEAUTIFUL TO SIT IN A CAR
They better get it together because LAX is a hot fucking mess.
I think what la need more is public Transport.
I have taken at least 20 international flights in and out of LAX(home airport) with very few delays or issues, many of those were during peak seasons (May to Sept)
For me the key has been using the Van Nuys or Union Station flyaway bus to get in and out
It’s a horrible airport to get in and out of. But at least the workers there know how to manage it to fly on time.
What about the People Mover connecting to the Light Rail Station ?
I feel like by time they finish these projects, it'll be time for another expansion.
Looks great! I have flown in and out of LAX since the 80s more times then I can count. Definitely has not been my favorite airport.
I do hope they will finally upgrade this skid stain of an airport. Next to the previous LGA, this is the most dumpy US airport I’ve been to; MIA a seedy mess.
Rebuilding LAX is a big task, that is a huge project. I hope this comes out all well. They better not fuck this up
I don't understand the concern regarding these events in any given weekend in the fall, LA host NFL football games, Football games from UCLA and USC. and Dodger and MLS games. So moving masses of people across the region for sporting events is a typical weekend thing.

The whole LA is a nightmare, not just LAX
LA has the perfect weather all year round, great outdoors, hike in mountains or walk by the beach, great museums, recreational parks, amusements parks, live sports, concerts, dining. yeah traffic is bad, but most of other states have a horrible weather.
A TRUE GAME CHANGER… THen Add Sofi Stadium and InTuit Dome… LAX/INGLEWOOD Will Be THE FUTURE CITY That All Others Would Wish to Be.😎
I’ve flown out of LAX quite a few times the last few years and ill say this: departing is no problem.
I like the improvements
I believe Los Angeles needs a second airport
One international and one domestic
Other major cities like Tokyo, Beijing and Bangkok has 2 airports.
Just came back from LA the lines for tsa was actually quicker than the lines at Detroit airport thats saying something
I hadn't been to LAX in 15 years. I was there in April. It was, by far, the most hellish airport I've ever been in.
What about the Theme Building? They need to integrate this important landmark into the terminals AND to the city.
Traffic getting and leaving is ass but the airport itself is dope.
Mental health community with daily content , let’s connect
There will always be construction at the airport. It's a world where nothing really gets finished. As far as the 2028 Olympics, these projects would have been completed whether or not the city was awarded the Olympics. The airport is there for the long term, like forever. The Olympics is something that just lasts a few weeks.
It’s not just LAX, Los Angeles needs better public transportation
I think LA has other problems to fix first!
LAX needed this upgrade for a good generation. The Olympics coming is just an excuse to finish/upgrade it. Traffic is just part of the problem that won't change no matter what.
LAX, home of the $5 12 oz. bottle of water and less than mediocre $20 burritos. It's a price gouger's paradise.
Kamala says she will fix the gouging.
