- Carlos Sainz is taking a major risk on securing a drive with Red Bull or Mercedes next season, after reportedly rejecting a 'lucrative' offer from Audi to join their Sauber project for 2025 and beyond. This puts the position of Sergio Perez under more strain, and may prove to be a good decision if Max Verstappen were to follow Adrian Newey out the Red Bull door.

I would love to hear Newey signs with Andretti Racing...would blow up all the excuses F1 has against them.
Andretti....just checkmated the Liberty media FIA and FOM.. Congress just sent them a letter that if they want to race in the USA and collect all those American dollars. They better stop the shit they are pulling on Andretti or face antitrust/anticompetitive lawsuits.
WAY TO GO MIKIE...I GOT YOUR BACK.
He really is hoping perez has another '23 season, or the windowlicker gets kicked out at aston.
Bold strategy Cotton
lmao "windowlicker" someone watches RPM? 🤣
It's a joke if Perez loses his seat and isn't on the grid whilst much lesser drivers keep their's.
@larssonk22
Yea, I like the new names he has given to Stroll and Russell.
I enjoyed the gp reviews he used to do, but it looks like he's focused on doing paid content mostly now.
@@MooncricketsInc yeh it's a shame but understandable, I do enjoy his not so jovial take on F1.
@larssonk22
I got no issue with the hustle and cashing in. Just wish the reviews of every gp would continue.
He's one of the very few f1 channels that criticises every team driver and f1 in general, which is a nice change of pace from all these PG friendly, trying to be as neutral and non-offensive as possible.
@@larssonk22 Perez is decent, but not truly worthy of a seat in the best car. He's only still there because red Bull prefer Verstappen not to be challenged. They're dominant enough that it works. If they thought it was going to be closer for the constructor's title, I think they'd dump Perez in a flash and get someone who can maximise points better. He has too many bad races.
Sainz should have gone to Audi, Max aint leaving Red Bull, Toto is gonna put Kimi in the car, and Lance is staying at Aston. so maybe hes out of a seat for the future
I'm not convinced Max ain't leaving. Lemay look at '26 & beyond & believe RB will drop down the order, ntm there's still A LOT that can happen internally at RB still this season which could make him leave for next season.
Not sure about Lance staying, I think that seat might be Yuki's, unless Riccardo wipes the floor with him
@@martinavery3979Lance was asked about the future but didn’t say much about it. He might as well go do other things.
Sainz to RedBull either way. Max stays Carlos will be an upgrade to Checo both in terms of skills and several years younger. If Max goes, then Checo stays and Carlos gets the opportunity of a lifetime. CHECKMATE on Max.
@@stephensegal5187 Not even sure Checo stays. He’ll want to be number one but Carlos has a way better record to base that claim on, plus youth. At that point, surely you just make Sainz long-term team leader in place of Max and put Liam in because he’s a great talent who can ensure Chilli doesn’t get complacent. Time to look towards the future - if Red Bull are thinking results and not just Carlos Slim + Latin American energy drink sales, it’s the only conclusion. Checo would be very welcome back to Switzerland, I have no doubt. Seidl isn’t a moron. He’d prefer Carlos, but there’s barely a driver more qualified for that job than Sergio Pérez.
If I was the great Newey, I’d be almost insulted that he didn’t take the relatively speaking best car in F1 history as far as he had the potential to, when every other person who’s sat in one of his cars has driven the wheels off it, including the teammates of the six(?) other world champions from Mansell to Vettel. Not that Newey has any sway over Red Bull firings and hirings any longer.
That RB paint is definitely Miami colors
He should have signed with Audi
George spent years in an absolute cr*pbox Williams and was paid an absolute pittance. When he finally got promoted to Merc the team imploded.
Antonelli meanwhile gets the red carpet laid out, is hailed as Lewis's replacement and probably has more seat time in the W12 than George.
*Sad Russell noises*
Poor Osama bin Russell
Russell will still beat Antonelli if Kimi joins next year.
Russell is much better than most realize. He loses composure but his peak is very high. This is as a Lewis fan.
Russell is incredibly underrated.
@@sirrabhsurya5087… and there’s your problem - you’re a Lulu fan. Both Mercedes drivers are wildly overrated & Lulu’s success was entirely due to the car - he’s been busy proving that for the past 3 seasons.
Imagine if Nuey says: "Me or your son. You pick." lol
Sainz is FUCKED if the verstappen camp doesn’t decide to jump ship to Mercedes or oust stroll from the second Aston seat.
Edit for context: I believe sainz is knowingly taking the risk of hoping max leaves Redbull so he can come in and take his seat. On paper it really is his best chance to win a championship (even though he’s going to have to beat Lewis and Charles with a teammate that probably won’t be there to help when it REALLY counts) you can’t knock the guy from going for it because if it does happen and he challenges next year he would be LEGENDARY. He would go down in history as the guy who picked up the pieces and was there when it counted not just for podiums or “best of the rest” but the WIN. He KNOWS what’s on the table. The chance is there even though it’s small and he couldn’t not go for it. That’s what people don’t understand about sainz. He might not have that extra 1% that verstappen,Charles, Lewis have; but he KNOWS that and puts in the EFFORT To make the difference. He backs himself to beat those guys, he believes he could win. That’s the difference between him and the rest of the grid. When drivers like lando say “I bet against myself to finish way behind” vs how sainz carries himself THAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE when it comes down to it.
I still think is better than Sauber, if you get Perez seat
i thought that at first but if max stays he goes to merc and if max goes he goes to RB since he more than suitable to win over checo, dani, or yuki
Disagree. Someone will sign him. It's not hard to do same or better than Sauber.
He is welcome at WRC 👍
@@alimantado373 isn't his dad like a world champion racer in rally? That's gotta be something he'd love to do at some point as well. But I'm sure he's going to merc or rb honestly
Sainz might find himself out of a seat
Will be his own stupidity.
He will find a seat.. but maybe not the one he wants.. Williams, will take him in a heartbeat
if max stays he goes to merc and if max goes he goes to RB since he more than suitable to win over checo, dani, or yuki
He might be OK with that & just sit out a year. In a year almost certainly he'd be offered a RB seat for '26.
@@pigalow2002staying out from F1 is a very risky move unless you're multiple WDC or something. Stars may not align to get that entry back. And if they don't align in 2026 then it'll become harder and harder later
Interesting with Sainz turning down Audi. Could it mean Max is leaving red bull sooner following the Newey departure
Comparing Quali laps to chilled laps on a track day is so different
Yeah, but that comparison isn't available, they can only do what they can do.
@@peterthomas5792 exactly, he's not under pressure and in quali mode. Comparing apples to oranges. Isn't relevant in the slightest.
so you think trying to do you best time changes in each situation.....both situations have pressure. the only thing that I would give you for that argument is traffic when trying to go for a hot lap. Other than that... the pressure is the same... the fact that the track is empty can coax you into complacency alot quicker as well
@lawless8723 I disagree. When you're actually qualifying, you've got many factors coming into play. You've got your opinion, which I don't agree with it though, it is. What it is.
Well he also didn’t have 19 other cars rubbering in the track to help with grip .
Audi is a fun thought experiment, I think. Nobody seems to be talking about it though. But I think he could at least plausibly enjoy the challenge of building something from the ground up. Also, I think the “rejection” from Sainz is a performance for Red Bull’s benefit. I think the seat is safe for Carlos with his old man’s influence. Carlos belongs in a top five team, there’s no two ways about it.
Merc should sign Antonelli. They're not going to be challenging for the championship in '25 anyway, so it gives Antonelli a pressure-free year to bed in.
Damn 😂
Pls can someone tell me what this Antonelli guy has done to deserve an f1 seat in a near top team?
@@sammoore3687 peep all the F4 and FRECA championships he’s won in the last two years dominating in his rookie seasons. He’s made massive improvements each race so far in F2 and has been outperforming his more experienced, very highly rated teammate in Oliver Bearman. Keep in mind jumping from FRECA to F2 is as big a jump as going from F3 to F1 like Max did, and now after a few F2 races he’s seriously impressing during his F1 test. Only person who should possibly get the Mercedes seat over Kimi is Max.
I really like the Vcarb special livery even though final decision doesnt come till i see it on track. But it also makes me want to score a 8ball
Two little too late for Sainz, he shouldve been driving this well the entire time.
or never leave mclaren
I get why Carlos might not want to "waste" 2 years at Sauber/Audi, but rejecting them could backfire. Still not covinced about the Kimi A hype - he and Bearman aren't setting F2 alight.
The sideview of the RB Visa looks so good!. I like it. Almost Bennetton vibes.
Aston's biggest update is to Lance Stroll's car, they are fitting it with a varifocal windscreen
Would have been great if Newey told Lawrence Stroll "I'll join AMR if you drop Lance and put a serious driver in that seat"
Mercedes won’t call sainz if all they are going to do is offer him a 1+1 contract. Hopefully, max will leave and then have a sainz/checco pairing.
Sainz shouldnt want that, unless he doesnt get a seat in RB of course
I can’t see Max leaving RB for MERC, it’s a lesser car for sure. He cares more about winning than money I think. MERC can promise the world plus Ambassador role that they denied to Hamilton, but they cannot really promise a championship car.
Max isn't leaving Redbull in the short term. You guys have gotten drunk on all these yellow journalism. Max isn't Alonso. He isn't Lewis. He isn't about to build up a team this stage in his career. If he doesn't have a car that is fighting for championships, he's out. He's already salty about the 2026 regs.
@@opmike343 He was probably crazy to pull a Ferrari move, but Lewis was faster
@@opmike343 I am sure hope we will do everything he can that will make him want to leave, like getting rid of marco!
Maybe he knows something we dont, Max could really be considering that Mercedes seat. If not yeap, he won't have a seat next year
If Max goes to Merc, the dynamics between him and Woody, with Kimi on a Williams waiting for a seat would be quiet interesting to witness. I could see Merc jihadding Osama Bin Russell off that seat to keep Max and Kimi
As a Merc fan who actually really likes Russell and also have been a big component for Kimi going straight into the Mercedes seat next year, if Max does happen to come to Mercedes I’ll be a very conflicted man. But I agree the preferred line up would be Max and Kimi I’d just feel horrible for George.
yeah.. I can imagine Russell's frustration. Imagine spending so much time at Williams, then moving to Merc and Lewis leaving. Thinking he'll be the #1 driver and Merc having promised him that. Now, Merc is moving earth to get Max and doing whatever is possible to secure a seat for Kimi. That's gotta hurt
@@dave.vega. they should’ve gotten rid of Bottas in 2019 and put George straight into Merc. Honestly glad LH is going to Ferrari because he’s lost his seriously lost his edge and too focused on pushing politics and DEI on the team and have complied to please him at their own determinant. When diversity became more important than talent it’s no wonder Mercedes is that where they are now. I’m hoping that mentality leaves with to Ferrari but I have a feeling Lewis’s politics and Ferrari politics aren’t gonna mix too well.
Am I the only one to have thought of a simple solution to the dilution dilemma, which is to financially reward only the top 10 teams (potentially out of 12 teams). Then incomers wanting to fill slots 11 and 12 may choose to self regulate their entries knowing that the risk is that they may not receive any portion of the ‘prize’ monies if they fail to perform!!
Sainz taking it to Verstappen would make the race more enjoyable. I used to love his dad in WRC. I would root for the kid too.
If it happens, then it'll definitely be very exciting. Only IF it happens
Wishful thinking, he’ll get beat easily
Sainz has nothing on Max. He cant even beat Leclerc at Ferrari
If Newey is waiting around for anything, he’s waiting for Andretti get get approval for his team
The RB has that Toro Rosso blue on the top air intake and spin that looks amazing and the other colours make it all pop!
“Time *may* prove” and “definitely possible” 🤣 gotta love it
maybe Audi could do a Brawn GP.... maybe
nah Brawn GP was only possible cause Honda made that car just before they pulled out
Hulkenburg wdc 🙏
i dont blame Sainz for not going to Audi, It will take them years to get up to par with the top teams. Its not like you can turn a team around over night. They will still be a back marker for years to come. He knows it, and after that, whose to say they wont pull a Toyota? and just F' off rather than lose every week because it hurts their brand name and costs them a ton of money to boot.
They may come in with a killer engine
Not if audi has a rocket engine like mercedes in 2013
@@Querientje when current Mercedes decided to become an F1 team they had been in F1 as championship winning engine supplier since 1990's. Audi (VAG) have 0 F1 exposure.
@@nicksterl.2133 but I think they do other formulas
Carlos must have a deal in hand to reject Audi, but that maybe opens door to a Botas or someone else. The RB livery is very nice for Miami. Antonelli v Russell will be interesting, if he gets hammered he is finished, but if he holds his own, then I will pay more attention to him. A lot of American sport is closed franchise things. Both Alonso & Ham are trying to steer Newey towards their respective teams. If Aston was serious, Lance would be gone.
Do you actually make this stuff up.
Surely you would want a strong pairing in your team: a) to get you good points and move you up in the constructors table, and b) to have two experienced drivers to help with the development of the car. I don’t think Audi would worry about the Chinese market, as they are a well enough established brand as it is.
Sainz going to RB will be a bad move... Max is going to leave RB, and RB will no longer be competitive... Hope that Sainz makes the best decision, but with RB drama, Redbull Will be very short term solution
Stroll will go and train at the amr endurance
What about Sainz to RB VCARB or whatever they are called ??
I would guess that Audi will keep Zhou and that Bottas will end up at Haas with Bearman.
I could see him going to Williams, but I have a feeling their 2025 lineup will be Albon and Antonelli (if Mercedes gets Max, which seems likely).
I've been saying Newey is going nowhere except retirement when he decides it's time, and that appears to be what has happened, not conflict with his friend, Horner, not a tempting offer from another team, maybe not even a reduced role in designing the Red Bull F1 car, which he appears to have asked for himself. Maybe after taking some time off to enjoy sailing his new vessel, he will accept an offer from another team, but for now, it appears he will finish working on the RB17 hypercar and then sail off into the sunset. I tend to agree with the notion that he will be designing cars somewhere eventually, but it's a coin flip whether it wil be in Formula 1. He's already tasted alternative design projects with the RB17. Maybe he goes to work for a company designing hypercars and supercars. Whatever he decides, I wish him the best. It's been a real pleasure watching his cars crush Hamilton and Mercedes.
As for Sainz, unless he knows something we don't, which quite frankly he probably does, I think he made a huge mistake not accepting Audi's offer. But like you said, maybe he drives for a lesser team in 2025 and then secures a seat with a top team in 2026. Or maybe Mercedes have already made him an offer that is more appealiing, but both Mercedes and Sainz are waiting to see what happens with Perez. I still don't think Verstappen will go to Mercedes in 2025, and only a chance of him going in 2026 if he gets a solid read on the Mercedes engine being dominant. Even then I don't know if he would be willing to drive for Toto. Maybe Ferrari will replace Leclerc with Verstappen in 2026. Then we could watch him force Hamilton into retirement.
I would love Audi to look at the Juniors like Maloney(I’m biased towards Maloney) but if he wins f2 he is your future
That RB one off is beautiful. Looks like titanium
The front wing and sidepods on that RB are absolutely chef's kiss. Finally, a team willing to market themselves as a lollipop. It reminds me of the Palace collaberation with EF/Cannondale in cycling.
Interesting; because of the color scheme it reminded me of UAE Team ADQ...
@@mischavanasperen3063Oh, I didn’t even think of that. You’re right!
Newey is the greatest F1 builder. Colin Chapman once held that reputation. It is impossible to be the best forever. Some brilliant, but totally unknown, university engineering student is about to finish his PhD dissertation about the mathematics of racecar design. He will become famous soon. Very soon.
Max vs George would be amazing!
Max will have George for breakfast any day. And ask for seconds..
@@martijnkammelar2320 Why? 😂
Yeh but stroll dictates , if he wante that RB seat but more likely he will team up with Newey at astin however, lewis could have no seat if newey goes to Ferrari as Lance will most likely take that seat away from Hamilton if he wants it
The obvious place to go for Newly...yes and The Ultimate challenge of course!! ..is " It ain't Great ower there Alpine "
Makes sense
Brits need to stop trying to force Andretti to buy Alpine.
How on earth would less restricted desireable drugs that have legitimate medical and industrial use be "hard to get" when you can get illegal drugs delivered to your door faster than a pizza.
Some people are bonkers.
Sainz was interviewed at miami and said he has NOT declined any offer 2:17 2:20
Sounds like Newey would serve F1 best if he were to retire from F1, maybe then we will have competitive racing.
MB get Max and many techies will want to be part of that team ......
Audi proved they aren't serious by signing a pay driver in Hulkenberg. That may have been enough, in addition to the current state of the car, to have Carlos pass on a team about as committed to being competitive as Haas (not very).
Audi always expressed interest in hiring a German driver. Hulk is the only active German F1 driver. Nothing more complicated.
Newey leaves RB because RB made a choice - the choice was Wache. Why is that? Because maybe Wache did the work and Newey wanted the credit? Why would Max praise Wache?
Damn, that RB looks good
Toto talking up Antonelli like he's the next Hamilton is a joke. He's just talking his book. Antonelli has promise but he's not exactly running away with the F2 championship and even if he gets a seat in 24 or 25 it'll be at Williams. Sainz should've taken the Audi seat
Maybe…most likely I don’t understand the driver’s market….however…were i Sainz….I’d be hooking up the Audi contract….and lead the growth and development of the team / car
If Carlos wants redbull is cuz he probably knows something we don’t. Maybe Max is leaving and Carlos wants the that spot? Very possible🤔
I hope you are doing this because you believe you can beat Max. Not because you think Neewe's departure will influence Max to an extent, where he leaves RB.
If there is any hint of Verstappen not being happy, RB gotta sign Sainz for next year with Checo.
It would be funny if Horner signs Carlos and makes him the number one driver and they put max in SP position of second driver as punishment for his dad’s actions
It's down to Max who is team mate is not Marko or Horner, Checo has come good, let him have his two maybe three wins over Max as Max knows the team balance but Carlos would go all out to rock the boat at Red Bull
What will be the point of bringing Sainz to RB, as soon as he puts max in trouble in 3 or 4 races, somehow he will forget how to drive in the 5th race!!!
Buy some Williams shares and rebuild like he wanted to do all those years ago in 1996
I mean if Sainz takes the risk for Audi then hopefully he will gain some goodwill incase he will have some rough seasons later on
Andretti is actually getting on my nerves and do you blame Sainz for turning down Audi, bloody heck they signed Hulk who is in no rush to sign either. lol
Great video
Saenz will not move to redbull knowing they savotage the second driver car to give advantage to max, he is just gonna go in and stay away from max because of little things to make him slower just like they did to webber and they are doing to checo
They should have given him a 5 year deal, not a 3 year deal as they need to build themselves up and that takes time. That is almost impossible to do
Orright guys
😂
RICCARDO to Audi that would be different 😳I mean why not RB's nit doing him many favours lol
The Congress have no power to have significant impact on F1 to reverse their decision. it would need the full weight of all branches of govt for that to happen.
He doesn’t care if Max stays or goes- Carlos BELIEVES he can beat him in the same car because he’s done it before. Could be shades of Rosberg vs Hamilton
He’s gonna regret this! He would be a number 1 at Audi next to Hulk, but that may not be the case at RB.
So ferraris livery isn't unique? People being so hurt it wasn't all blue are being corny, it's ferrari it was never gonna be all blue. I personally think it looks beautiful.
Well, well well, isn't Sainz stupid. He should have taken the Audi deal. He won't get a Red Bull seat, and if he does Max will humble him, and harm his career.
You're actually growing on me :)
Sainz will be ok. It’s a bit of a flyer but I think given current circumstance he will be fine. He will find his way into a top team.
I think Sainz is waiting for Verstappen to maybe leave after this year to take over the main driver role. With how everything is falling in RB at the moment, i wouldn't be surprised if Max leaves to join Merc next year due to Christian Horner.
It's getting even more like a soap opera.
Racing driver - merry-go-around without any news about actual racing. . .
Soon beginning not to care, whether Max Verstappen takes the alleged Mercedes $1025 Million multi-year contract with additional ambassadorship too.
Or, if Carlos Sainz gets a replacement offer from Christian Horner (crossed fingers he survives) imploding RedBull;with Adrian Newey, 'The Best Car' designer starting the 'ship jumping'exercise. . .
Its either ferrari or mercedes but nothing is certain
I saw that Carlos has his own brand of carting cars...even if he dips for 1 year, sailing the globe with Adrian Newey (😂), he will come back with 100% respect of teams. He is amazing....
Sainz will sign for rb or mercedes its obvious. Just waiting to see if max leaves.
Sianz can't go to Williams cause I don't see rb giving Liam a seat. And if they don't he can go else where and thays the only real choice
carlos is a slightly less delusional version of the 'tyre whisperrrrer' or he's going to red boll
Americans when they do t get what they want “Let’s sue them!!”
Redbull spent the entire design budget on that livery for the b team car since they haven’t spent any of the main car for a decade😂
Audi better take this opportunity to sign Mick, because all the current crop of top drivers want a competitive car NOW. They don't want to have to help Audi develop the car.
Mick is good. He's matured. He has both the experience of working with a terrible team (Haas) and a top team (Mercedes). So, he can use tgat experience to help Audi iron out tge rough spots. Even better, with Nico in the twilight of his career, by the time the car gets developed properly, Mick will be ready to take tge #1 spot to challenge for wins.
For those who wish to retort with snide remarks about Mick crashing, he was the most improved driver in the second half of his last season with Haas; and comparatively speaking, Verstappen crashed morein his younger days. Tge difference being Max was at fault, due to his penchant for never wanting to give way to other drivers. Mick was just driving a shite car.
A big L for Carlos. Bro thinks he’s Lewis.
Bro knows he’s the best free agent out there. I think his father’s influence with Audi is sufficient to afford him time for some theatrics. Checo should be a way better choice for Audi anyway - he knows Hinwil, he knows Hulk and he can ring the neck of a mid car like nobody’s business. If it works out for Audi with Checo as number one driver, building momentum, he can be a championship contender - but he’s never gonna cut it as second fiddle to an all-time-great imo. He’s too Barrichello and not enough Rosberg. He’d have done no better against Fernando or Lewis than he has against Max.
There’s always the possibility that Carlos has inside intel that the Verstappen/Marko camp’s relationship with Red Bull is simply irreparable at this point, things we don’t know yet. Unless they plan on bringing in Liam, Yuki or the ailing Danny Ric to replace the mutant that is Max Verstappen, or some surprise outside pick, Carlos is their best choice by far. They don’t call him smooth operator for nothing - he wouldn’t turn down a solid deal with a massive paycheque and excellent job security on a hunch. If the RB21 remains head and shoulders above, he has a damn good shot at lifting that big-ass trophy in ‘25.
Big L?
LMAO
He's one of the best drivers available
He's not Danny Ric gunning for Number 1 seat on a midfield, He's aiming for that Number 2 seat for the title contender car
El plan
Can’t grumble Ferrari 2nd place in the Sprint livery in red & Man City blue & my football team Man City won 5- 1 excellent results 👏🏼
If this is true, you just earned a lot, and I mean a lot of fans
Sainz thinks he is da shit lol 😅🤦🏽♂️
Maybe Carlos knows something about Max’s plans with regards to RB. I don’t blame him, he’s proven his worth. Going to race for a backmarker is not appealing. I’d rather go race Formula E or endurance for a top team.
I'm pro Andretti, but the US congress moving to force a US team into an international sport is the most American shit I ever did hear.
I think that Newey doesn't go to Ferrari.
There is a possibility, but a very small one.
But as he makes a move, than we will hear it soon. I think that he is now taking his time and looks around what he really wants. Stopping is still an option, but switching to something else also.
The only real probable situations are he signs for Ferrari or retires. The other options are not nearly as enticing as the Ferrari option rn
Sainz at Red Bull would be a bold move from Horner, especially in case Verstappen wants to leave as well.
I can only think that Audi tend to be successful when they enter a new category
An interesting idea is Newey to Audi...
Why would Sainz want to get beat like a drum again!!!???? He couldn’t even beat an 18 year old Ver & kids only got massively faster. Doesn’t make the stupid mistakes like Charles or Russell during the races. This would be a blood bath.
That's a very good decision from Carlos. Somebody will sign him, Sauber is near the bottom of the barrel at the moment. And will probably fall even further by the end of the season. He'd make himself look bad by driving a tractor. It just always looks bad. It'll diminish his brand. If after a while they turn out to be any good, he'll have multiple occasions to jump ship there.
Redbull DO NOT want a driver to challenge max 😂
