McLaren has no need for Newey rn, unless they sack people to be replaced by Newey. Now if only they can do something about that PU, bring back the noise of the stratospheric revving NA V8 Hybrids! Most of the PU makers are super car makers and they are going to be using synth fuels.
@@anydaynow01 F1 definitely needs to do something about the noise. Either a lower revving (and thus growly) V8 hybrid or find a way to get the V6s revving closer to their actual rev limit and re-jig the turbos to absorb less of the noise. I would love the V10 scream to come back, but realistically it's never coming back. If all the F1 cars sounded like the Cadillac Hypercar that would be sweet.
Verstappen isnt leaving until at least 2027 after a year of the new regulations. Why would he at the moment when he's essentially guaranteed 2024 & 2025 Drivers Titles. It'll take him seeing the Red Bull get overtaken consistently by other teams to leave. Similar to how Seb left Red Bull after the 1st yr of the new regulations and him experiencing that Red Bull dropped the ball.
Saying that Newey did have any input in the 2024 car isn’t really something to brag about, had had input in the 2021 car, and more importantly he had input in the 2022 which was the basis for this current RB dominant era. Maybe he didn’t had input in this year car but he certainly did with the one that was the mold for this current regulations
Word is, he's already turned Aston Martin down (which to be frank given who's in charge and who's basically keeping one of those seats forever at this point, I can't blame him).
If Newey is still that relevant to RB's success, I doubt they would've let him go. I'm leaning towards to the reports that he had little to no input on the current and 2026 car. RB would've done everything to keep him just like they did Horner if he still got it but I guess he's too old now. 🤷♂🤷♂
Frankly, the best is probably for him to go to Dallara and put his influence into the F4/F3/F2 cars. The F1 cars are constantly evolving but the lower formulas are stuck until the next cars replace them. It would benefit the rookies a lot more.
I can't see Williams being a serious option. Firstly because, well, they're not exactly going brilliantly right now. But also because he already worked with them for many years, and I'd imagine he wants to go somewhere new rather than try to relive past glories. Ferrari offers that. The other thing with Williams is that while they're a better and much more financially stable outfit now than they were a few years ago, turning them around and getting them back to the front is going to be a long-term project and Newey, at 65, probably isn't LOOKING for a long-term project.
As a Ferrari fan, I really encourage the idea of Adrian reuniting with the Williams. Albono deserves to be at least a top 6 finisher, and with a Williams designed by Adrian, it's just a matter of time before Albono finds himself on the podium, on the top step even. Maybe Loggy can do something too with that calibre of a car, but who knows.
RBR are naive if they think they don't need to be nervous about Newey leaving. Even if Newey had nothing to do with the 2024 car or cars of the recent past, RBR still benefited massively because Newey wasn't out there designing cars for another team, which meant RBR had less competition all this time.
The Race normally milks even a lame news. Now that they have so many news to talk about they are going over the rails with all the if if speculation videos. There is a Newey statement available in the official f1 site, where he has clearly stated that " he is going to take a break and enjoy travelling and he is lucky he doesn't have to work to live and step back to enjoy life"
I wouldn't take a PR statement on RB/F1's site as anything to go by but I 100% agree The Race are milking this. If I am not wrong, didn't they make pretty much the same exact video less than a week ago? I have to remind myself that feeding the algorithm is how they feed themselves and we get the content for free. Still, I hate that they suck me in and I feel like I wasted my time.
@@AntiVaganza yea most of the time their videos are baseless and unnecessary. A one word or one line comment from some f1 personal will be made in it a 15 to 30 min videos of complete nonsense. Most of the f1 news channels are the same.

You never want a new driver at the same time as major regulation change. Always stagger them. Ive heard this said by many people over the years and it makes a lot of sense. That means Max should move for 2025 or 2027. I suspect the latter because he will surely get the 2025 title at red bull.
I would say Ross Brawn is equally if not more impressive. While it’s unfair to provide information like this without clarifying the relationship in some facet, it would have been to standard if you left out “extremely well placed source”. It’s just a source. You’ve provided the viewer with no way to decide if said source is quality. If you never got anything wrong, you could justify this but that’s not true. Is it someone internal to Ferrari? A management agency? Red Bull, newey’s orbit? It does not have close incremental risk to your unnamed sources to provide that crucial information. And if it does, you shouldn’t be reporting you have a source at all. But you’ve not only not provided any nuance re: said source, you’ve improperly led someone not privy to information to think the source is good which mean to validate the speculative nature of your reporting. You’re better than that and it’s not what’s needed right now in a time of a lot of confusion not to mention the unfounded hope you’ve just injected into the Ferrari fan base based on information from an unnamed place who isn’t willing to even link themselves to their claims in ANY capacity Despite being convinced of said information.
Newey isnt a geniius he is a smart man, it took him 20 years to develop the concepts he brings to the table today which isnt just him its a team behind him to bring tbose concepts alive to being a competitive car, the torch has been passed down to pierre to take over has been for the last couple of years as he has been curator of the recent design of the dominating rb where newey has little input reasons being newey is in his later age and obviously is ready to step away for new challenges but who knows hey thats just how i see it

@@andrewwright4195 well if he has gotten an early exit because he agreed to retire, that decision has already been made. And since he didnt announce it, such an agreement didnt happen. The only other reason for an early exit is if he wanted to join another team in time for 2026 regs. Hence he is still seriosuly considering joining a new f1 team, and will only retire if he doesnt find a good deal.
If you’re in Redbull, this is an ideal time to try and wrangle a promotion or pay bump, so I’d expect to see a lot of looking around and making noise even if it’s just performative
I’d be willing to make an outsider bet on Newey to Audi. It’s kind of a new thing, great challenge with more resources than Williams. I don’t think anyone is talking about it.
I had mentioned elsewhere that Newey could even end up at Andretti in the future, if they ever become successful at entering F1. It didn't go down too well. Newey going to Audi would be mind blowing and would blind side most F1 fans, but not impossible.
Newey goes sailing, we all know that. Of course media outlets reporting on all F1 keep talking about where Newey will go, but that’s just trying to keep the momentum.
I think the biggest effect will be on the driver market. Currently Red Bull have such car superiority that they can run with a second driver who would be bettered by half a dozen other drivers in equal machinery. The danger is that if Ferrari narrow the performance gap we could see Perez regularly being beaten into forth by the two Ferrari drivers. That would make the Constructors championship close, especially if the new powertrain has reliability issues. My guess is that Carlos will be looking increasingly attractive to combat the powerful driver line up at Ferrari. And in the unlikely event of Max leaving Carlos would be a great option to take over as lead driver.
Doesn’t matter how much money you throw at Newey, at this point in his career I do believe him when he says he needs a break. Especially before all the new rule changes go into effect, I’m sure he will be back at Red Bull in a year.
Im fairly sure that Adrian would only join Ferrari now, or retire from F1 design completely. At 65 I don’t see any point in joining any other team now, - being so very near the end of Newey’s working life. I have Gordon Murray in mind being a few years older than Adrian but has stayed involved in Automotive design on his own terms.
I think you can confidently strike off Williams among the teams that could get him onboard. Unfortunately for them, they’re still very prt of Alisson’s team that disrespected him deeply. If anything, I reckon it’d be a battle between Ferrari vs Alpine to get him.
I can't see Newey going to Ferrari, even though I'd love to see that. He's repeatedly said he doesn't want to leave England, so if he remains in F1, I expect he's most likely going to either Williams or Mercedes.
bc - Ferrari are now locked up. McLaren are now locked up. Could you HONESTLY see him sucking up to LS - and Audi won't do anything for three years - that's why. If it's not R-B - then maybe he does a Hamilton and move when it's not fashionable.. Or, he quits.
@@CosmicSeeker69 That still doesn't make sense, if for whatever reason next season Redbull are not so dominant then I can why it would make sense considering new engine regulations for 26. But from a competitive/performance side of it until Redbull start to not win races I don't see a reason to leave the team.
I believe he is already Ferrari bound. Just keeping the deal quite for reasons. Announcing Lewis very early before season started might have something to do with pursueding Newey.
I think Williams is the more likely destination than Ferrari. It’s a lot closer to his home (at 65, I doubt he’ll be up for a full relocation) and I doubt he’ll want to walk from one tough situation with internal politics to another.
He is I believe 65 and has worked in a stressful position for years, money surely isn’t a factor as he earns £multi millions now, a year away would I think be a good option.
Last time Newey with Williams they actually had money that could compete with other teams. Now they obviously dont. You cant avoid the fact that Newey never designed a winning car for a team with very low resources(Only one case in history: Brown. And Newey wasnt involved). Maybe he would go to Williams bc of the challenge, But even with his huge influence they're a very limited
As much as I would like to see Newey go to Ferrari, I also like the idea of Newey joining Williams. Finally there would be a close fight for the top spots instead of an unbeatable juggernaut, who wears red or red bull colours. And maybe Williams could slowly return to it's glory days. Doesn't sound too bad.
Jos is a clown. Why would you leave a team that's made you 3x world champion for a team that's fighting for 10th? Insane. If Red Bull utterly collapses then fine. Until then...?

I speculated at the time that Newey might be joining. I'm convinced it will happen. Now looking towards Hamilton winning his 9th (sorry, 8th) world championship in 2026 or '27.
Thank you very much for the rare pictures from Barcelona where Adrian Newey inspected Alinghi RB BoatOne

Disclaimer: i’m a verstappen fan. But I think that a tranfer of newey will have a bigger impact on a team then a driver could have. As a verstappen fan I can only hope that there claims are right regarding Newey not having as big of an impact as everybody claims. But his trackrecord and f1 being mainly a constructeur championship I can only be scared for what the future beholds. I still think Verstappen is the best driver in this age. But without the car a driver is nothing in f1.
I think Newey’s contributions to the latest RedBull are far less than are imagined. It’s good for Adrian’s pocketbook that he gets so much credit. The stock will make another HUGE bounce.
they way redbull are shrugging of his exit as a non-impact situation is alarming when you look at how the teams he left in the past tanked so hard after
Do you really expect them to publicly say "the world is ending, the sky is falling, we are doomed."?
The true extent of Neweys departure will be evident from 2026 onwards. He won't be there to work on the car design with the new regs and engine supplier (or sponsor?)
McLaren with their 2 young chargers would be incredible
He was at McLaren 30 years ago
McLaren has no need for Newey rn, unless they sack people to be replaced by Newey. Add to that, that they have just won a race and Oscar will get the other upgrades in Imola, they will already be looking for more race wins with both drivers, aka whatever they are doing, its working, and if it ain't broke don't fix it.
Young chargers? Lando is only 2 years younger than max and charles...
Fred Vasseur is assembling his team like Nick Fury with the Avengers. Ferrari in 2026 will be unstoppable.
My hope is Newey goes to work with Andretti. :-)
Newey is 65… Andretti can only start in 2028… in 4 years…. Newey is 69 then 😂
@@Redlingstein First off, so? And second, given congress is calling Liberty Media on the carpet claiming anti-competitive activity, we might see Andretti in 2026. ;-)
That 'Thanks to my friend and manager Eddie Jordan' line was like where they tease an iconic character after the credits of the second movie.
You mention Williams but no comment on Aston Martin nor Audi? Come on 😆
Well, probably because, contrary to those 2 teams, Vowles talked about the Newey possibility.
I'd like to see him as poacher-turned-gamekeeper, setting the technical regulations for F1.
Exactly him and Brawn together setting the rule book to allow innovation and close racing like we have with this most recent generation of chassis.
Please go to Williams
Verstappen isnt leaving until at least 2027 after a year of the new regulations. Why would he at the moment when he's essentially guaranteed 2024 & 2025 Drivers Titles. It'll take him seeing the Red Bull get overtaken consistently by other teams to leave.
Similar to how Seb left Red Bull after the 1st yr of the new regulations and him experiencing that Red Bull dropped the ball.
10:15 Hoooly moly. That would be one hell of an explosive move.
The race has the biggest hard on for red Bull failing
They cry every day about Abu Dhabi
I think AM is more likely than William's
Stop inventing
I can't see Williams being a serious option. Firstly because, well, they're not exactly going brilliantly right now. But also because he already worked with them for many years, and I'd imagine he wants to go somewhere new rather than try to relive past glories. Ferrari offers that.
The other thing with Williams is that while they're a better and much more financially stable outfit now than they were a few years ago, turning them around and getting them back to the front is going to be a long-term project and Newey, at 65, probably isn't LOOKING for a long-term project.
F1 2025 rule change: Technical Staff spending cap
As a Ferrari fan, I really encourage the idea of Adrian reuniting with the Williams. Albono deserves to be at least a top 6 finisher, and with a Williams designed by Adrian, it's just a matter of time before Albono finds himself on the podium, on the top step even. Maybe Loggy can do something too with that calibre of a car, but who knows.
Hamiton and Newey..
Well Adrian did say he regrets never working with Hamilton.
Although Williams would be a big challenge for him.
I hope he gets out of F1 and engages in his bigger passion, building boats!
These behind the scene dramas are almost more fun to watch than the racing itself..
@@gouthamb884 so don't watch then. Or keep crying. No one cares.
@@gouthamb884 There's some repetition yes but you gotta upload some content in-between race weekends... that's just the nature of the game.
Newey: Nah, im going to Le Mans.
“Why is Jos still out there causing trouble?”
Sentence of the video…
okay, Good new info. Now wait till you have a substantial amount of new info on Newey, before you make another video on this topic. There has to be other things to talk about other than the F1 employment market. Dig deeper, work harder.
Any suggestions?
Are you member of The Race?
You never want a new driver at the same time as major regulation change.
Always stagger them.
Ive heard this said by many people over the years and it makes a lot of sense.
That means Max should move for 2025 or 2027.
I suspect the latter because he will surely get the 2025 title at red bull.
Can't see him back at Williams after Newey was dragged into the legal charges after Senna's death. Not to mention the driver lineup.
No ... but it would be awesome
GOAT of F1, no driver can ever claim that title
I would say Ross Brawn is equally if not more impressive. Just look at his winning record from Benetton to Ferrari to Brawn and we can attribute a lot of the success of the Mercedes domainance to him dispite Toto taking the glory it was Ross who put that orginal dream team together. An amazing techinical director and team principle.
*Colin Chapman has left the chat*
Colin Chapman, Ross Brawn and Adrian Newey are the three GOATs.
Jos is the dad who yells at the coach and other kids at his son’s little league game
Five ways British stewards are helping English drivers! 1. Alonso will automatically get a penalty in every race. 2. Lewis Hamilton can hit anybody without penalty. 3. Same for Bin Russell. 4. Their friends at The Race will always support their decisions. 5. No jumped starts for Norris, but penalty for Alonso being slightly to the left in his box.
1:25 surprised editorial staff allowed this statement. It’s inappropriate at best. Its not your job to qualify your unnamed source.
Newey isnt a geniius he is a smart man, it took him 20 years to develop the concepts he brings to the table today which isnt just him its a team behind him to bring tbose concepts alive to being a competitive car, the torch has been passed down to pierre to take over has been for the last couple of years as he has been curator of the recent design of the dominating rb where newey has little input reasons being newey is in his later age and obviously is ready to step away for new challenges but who knows hey thats just how i see it
The only way he got a early exit is with no doubt a clause not to join any rivals team. F1 is a big business not a chip shop around the corner.
...not if he has "pertinent info" on certain management personell activities,... that might be of interest to external parties..
It's all about leverage.
if he wanted to retire, he would have already announced so. He's not the type of guy to enjoy all these rumors and attention.
Non competes need to outlawed.
He said he needs time to think over things probably be next year @askeladden450
@@andrewwright4195 well if he has gotten an early exit because he agreed to retire, that decision has already been made. And since he didnt announce it, such an agreement didnt happen. The only other reason for an early exit is if he wanted to join another team in time for 2026 regs. Hence he is still seriosuly considering joining a new f1 team, and will only retire if he doesnt find a good deal.
Eddy is the man 💪
If you’re in Redbull, this is an ideal time to try and wrangle a promotion or pay bump, so I’d expect to see a lot of looking around and making noise even if it’s just performative
Great though. I didn't see it. Still Ferrari is established. Go to Audi after Hamilton titles.
Would be fab to see him back at Williams. He doesn’t need the money but what a difference he would make there
Newey goes sailing, we all know that.
Because it's prerequisite at Maranello... you know that, right?
I think you can confidently strike off Williams among the teams that could get him onboard. Unfortunately for them, they’re still very prt of Alisson’s team that disrespected him deeply. If anything, I reckon it’d be a battle between Ferrari vs Alpine to get him.
I wonder why Jos Verstappen is so keen for Max to move to Mecedes? Maybe 150 milions of reasons?
No Jos and Fiona made the false complaint and Jos made himself impossible at RB and RBR… Jos must leave and wants Max to leave with him… selfish Jos
I can't see Newey going to Ferrari, even though I'd love to see that. He's repeatedly said he doesn't want to leave England, so if he remains in F1, I expect he's most likely going to either Williams or Mercedes.
Why would Max even consider Mercedes they don't even have the 2nd nor 3rd fastest car on the grid 🤣😅😂.
bc - Ferrari are now locked up.
How's his Italian?
TH-cam is well known for it's harsh monetisation rule, but not with these nudity bots I suppose
I think Williams is the more likely destination than Ferrari. It’s a lot closer to his home (at 65, I doubt he’ll be up for a full relocation) and I doubt he’ll want to walk from one tough situation with internal politics to another.
I’m hoping for Williams switch see what he can do for the struggling team
If its going to be an engine formula like people say, is Newey really going to be the golden goose that he has been
I still believe Sir Adrian Newey will retire from F1. I couldn't see him moving to Ferrari, even though there have been attempts in the past.
Way #6: Opportunity for more 'empty calories' content...
Jos is a clown. Why would you leave a team that's made you 3x world champion for a team that's fighting for 10th? Insane. If Red Bull utterly collapses then fine. Until then...?
Jos and Fiona made that false complaint together… that’s the issue. The shared the bed… he wanted Horner out to get the power in RBR…. It backfired. He was also the leak toTelegraaf and he send those emails. All Jos. And RB and RBR knows that…. Jos has made his position as dad of Max in RBR impossible….
Clearly, RB aren't going to drop off a cliff without him, but if I'm Ferarri, there is no price too high to have the only human who can see air moving...
Williams is an interesting distraction as I could envisage Newey joining an ownership group along with Suzi Woolf, David Coulthard and Lewis Hamilton…( just a hunch)..🤔
The entirety of the paddock pales in comparison to Newey's accolades alone. *Living Legend* doesn't even begin to cut it.
There were more people like him in the past. He is the last great thinker.
How an affair can crush a dominant empire. 😮
This is no place for females in motorsport.
I mean, if I was Newey, the prospect of working with Leclerc and Hamilton AND at Ferrari would be one hell of the way to wrap up his career should it be his last stint at a team in Formula 1.
Se Newey decide di andare in Ferrari, anche Haas potrebbe diventare molto competitiva 👀
Zak Brown stirs the pot with the best of them.
Gamesmanship to try snd further destabilise Red bull. It's a cutthroat world.
Zak is a liar
Well done Eddie!
I love the excitement around Ferrari & the fact we do this every couple of years just for it to come crashing down 😅
& Why are Merc still being talked about like they are a top team ? Max won't be happy fighting 6th & 7th
