The "Sincerely yours" doc is on the Criterion disc of Breakfast Club. It just isn't mentioned on the back by name.

Used to collect VHS, I then upgraded to DVD, I then upgraded to Blu Ray, there are very few movies I would upgrade to 4K as the difference in picture quality is minimal and I mainly collect older movies and Boutique releases. There are very few modern mainstream Hollywood movies I’m interested in, occasionally I will buy a select few, but I find the majority of the time the movies do not live up to the hype, a good example of this would be Deadpool and Wolverine, it was a fun watch (and like a lot of modern mainstream movies, it’s not something that is worth revisiting as they are like theme park rides rather than a movie), but it was far from a great movie and yet another multiverse storyline, it was just a parody of superhero movies with far too many jokes that will age very badly (Marvel, Disney, 20th Century Fox themed jokes that will mean nothing in a few years time).

@@marymungleandmidge4080 I’d have to agree with you. When I look at what I’m picking up now. My purchasing seems to sway to the older movies over the newer releases. Not sure if it’s my age though r the movies but a lot of the newer ones just don’t have the rewatchability for me.

sometimes the difference in PQ is massive. Depends on when the blu ray came out and what was put into it. There are early era blus that were barely upgrades over the DVDs, that then got a 4k scan and put on a UHD for the first time the past few years and look world's better. Jaws is a great example where the 4k looks significantly better than the blu and there are at least a few hundred examples of this,

The answer to the question is if I would upgrade/double dipping the answer in the short run yes but in the long run no. I know there were times where I did some double dipping because I needed some space for my collection. If I did any upgrading then it would have to be a movie that I love the most in the world and I did a couple of upgrades before in my years of collecting.Well cheers mate 😊👍❤️

@@lippmb78 I still upgrade. Try to hold back a little more now and consider the reasons for upgrading but I still do some silly doubles.

Went on a buying collection of 3D Blu rays for my projector system sevaral months ago around 100 plus but always Knew at what point I would Stop. some were quite cheap off Ebay and Others Newer and rarer were a bit pricey. I will not be upgrading equipment or discs to 4K though. happy with my Blu rays and DVDs and that is it where ends for me

@@trevormaurer3684 such a shame that newer TVs no longer support 3D.
With collecting movies, collect whatever format suits you. 4k can get mighty expensive and at times it’s not a huge difference (sometimes worse)

they do list the contents of these sets and even produce images so people can decide if they want to purchase - if you blind buy maybe not a good idea at £45? I'm personally swerving on these as they are flooding the market.

    • @PhillwithadoubleL
      @PhillwithadoubleL  หลายเดือนก่อน

@@letstalkcriterion yeah I’d have to agree with the market being flooded with these things. Early December seems to hold a load of re-released bigger box editions.
I’m being more careful and considering the reasons for spending a load more on the limited boxes. Majority of the time… I’m not the right person for those sets. It’s more a want over a need.

With the 4K format, I'm getting a bit tired of buying my films again when it comes to updates, and to be honest, my eyes aren't getting any younger with age. I already find it difficult to tell the difference between Bluray and 4K unless you have a great TV that takes up the whole living room, which is just my opinion.
There's also the price difference, of course, and all these releases aren't exactly getting any cheaper. If you compare that with a used Bluray or DVD that you can get for almost nothing, I don't find it difficult to decide, especially with older films, I don't have to get the best out of them anymore.
I still enjoy my collection of films over the years, but the intensity has lessened a lot and I'm more than happy with what I have.
    Godspeed 🤘

@@Horror_Collector4Life I’m getting the same with eyesight. Very often the Blu rays really are good enough, still have the impulse to upgrade some things but if I’m honest with myself. I don’t need the 4k as often as I think I do.
We’re quite lucky with the movie formats. Lucky that we can still play the older dvd and blu ray on our newer 4k players. Not many platforms (gaming / music) that offer up that compatibility with older formats.
My refusal to have an inferior product has lessened over the years, I refused to buy dvd for many years but now… I still look at it as an option, especially with the price difference if Blu Ray is out of print. Why pay scalper eBay prices when there’s a dvd sat there that can be picked up for pennies 🤷🏼‍♂️(depends on the movie of course).

I'm not bothered about The Cell either. Before the Arrow announcement I'd just bought the blu for under $10 as I wanted to revisit the film for the first time in ages. It's fine, I like it, but I don't need to own it in 4k or pay another $20+ for a film I already own and the studio release actually has a fair bit of extras, more than I've even got to so Arrow's release holds no weight with me. It's not a great film. It's a great concept with maybe 6/10 execution, really don't know how much I'd go back to it. Maybe you should just revisit it on streaming before any buy.

@@MoviePalaceOfBlood yeah, I’m glad I keep to the realisation that I really didn’t need to be ordering it. A streaming viewing again would be plenty enough I think. Just that hype around announcement time that pulls me in.
