I've run those brand-new engines! They smell like fresh paint! New seats, and controls with no slack or wobble. BNSF Engineer retired

When will BNSF do a heritage unit paint schemes?
They were originally going to in 2020, but since COVID hit they decided to just do the sticker units. Now I’m not 100% sure, but I would guess they’ll be next year for their 30th anniversary, if not further in the future.
@FreightTrainProductions, it has been reported that BNSF has 0 interest in doing heritage units for at least the foreseeable future, so if anyone is waiting on BNSF to do them, I'm afraid they're going to be waiting for a VERY long time, if they ever do them.

Rip dash 9s of the future
Have already replaced nearly every SD70MAC, only two of those left. If the order continues then the BNSF-bonnets will be gone as well.
@@FreightTrainProductions from what I've seen so they're putting the dash 9 war bonnets in yard work
@@DPU.proMN.IA. Many, yes, despite them being one of the worst units for yard switching. Only a few ATSF left outside storage or yards.

These new locomotives would look so much better in a well known, well loved scheme with an actual name, which happens to be timeless!
Agreed, hinting at one in particular? I wish they’d go with a new design rather than just making it look worse by shrinking the swoosh, but sadly I’m not in charge, and regardless they probably would’ve ruined it like the rest of the class 1s…

What’s the difference between an ES44CH and an ET44CH?
ET44's are EPA Tier4 compliant units, the batch of ES44's in this order are Tier4 "credit" units, which are Tier3 compliant. otherwise, its the same locomotive.
@@rearspeaker6364 Ah, the EPA air quality standards. Wonder what the internal difference would be? The loco’s circuitry and computer?

ET44’s are garbage Tier 4 emissions locomotives. ES44’s are Tier 3 which are way better, but people get credits towards buying or having non tier 4 locomotives built. Norfolk Southern payed a fine to the government to let EMD build them “brand new” SD70ACe’s instead of building SD70AH’s which are tier 4 ACe’s.
