I bought one new in January of 1987, a black and chrome standard-cab 4x4. I sold it, beat down and wracked by Florida rust, with around 460 thousand miles on it, in July of 2014. That's 27.5 years I had it.
I fully restored a red 81 SR5 with only 21k original miles to factory condition except for a 3" lift, 32" tires and period correct custom wheels. I can honestly tell you that it turns more heads than a Lambo
One of the best looking pickup truck ever! This truck inspired me to get a black on black truck myself...tastefully modified for the movie and practical for daily use. Love movie and the cars!
I'd rather have one of these than a DeLorean. 1 it just looks freaking awesome and aged well. 2 I know it'll perform how it looks. I think the DeLorean is lame to be honest.
I had a 87 Toyota 4-runner with the 22re engine. Great reliable truck. Got me from Anchorage AK to Soldotna AK on three cylinders in the middle of winter. Damn I miss that truck.
Beautiful truck. Makes me miss my 92 Toyota truck. 22re was a bulletproof engine. I just sold my 97 Tacoma reg cab in great condition and bought a 2016 Tacoma. However I'll always love that pre 2005 body.
Jeff Ree yep I've got the same trk like the one in this video. Mine is a different color. The 92 is the next body style I want to buy. Both are very good looking trks.
jason127x99 for sure. My 92 was a darker red with the shadowed ghost stripes on sides. Almost looked like nike swoosh. It was in great shape and man do I miss it. I should have kept it. I upgraded to a 97 2.7L trd in perfect shape with a small lift and only 60k. Couldn't pass up the deal. Dark green with a cap, brush guard and was just everything I was looking for
I don't understand how some of the idiots that ruin important movie vehicles even get their hands on them in the first place. Seriously, who's idea was it to paint it orange? Same thing happened with the Bullitt '68 Mustang too, some idiot gutted it and turned it into a drag car only to let it sit and rot until somebody tracked it down.
Because often the vehicles aren't that important when the movie is first made, and the production company can't keep it around. Not to mention many movie cars suffer tons of damage during filming. And so they auction it off or sell it outright, as a vehicle or as scrap.
since i saw this vehicle in this movie for the first time i was in love with it. nothing changed 30 years later. still driving a pickup. still in love with 4x4 and pickups
No offence, but it sounds like shit! High revving with not much speed to show for it. Exhaust sounds like it is blowing too. Looks amazing though and well done for saving it!
Wow so this truck had it's own back to the future experience. Luckily it's restored in full glorie now. The truck is my favourite BTTF car too. Even after all those years it still stands out and looks way better than any new truck.
Those mid 80s Toyota pickups are timeless.
Kevin MacNutt yep they are! That yr model is a very good looking trk. I even like the early 90s version of it too.

The 80’s were the best years for fashion, music, cars. Just the general atmosphere was awesome.
Where's the video on that delorean they restored that George berris first destroyed?
I fully restored a red 81 SR5 with only 21k original miles to factory condition except for a 3" lift, 32" tires and period correct custom wheels.
I can honestly tell you that it turns more heads than a Lambo
1000X times better than P.O.S 1985 Ford Ranger. It died on me on the road so many times.
rangers run forever you must have killed it or you just hit a bad one.. 80s Toyotas rusted out badly
One of the best looking pickup truck ever! This truck inspired me to get a black on black truck myself...tastefully modified for the movie and practical for daily use. Love movie and the cars!
im not a movie guy but a toyota guy
solid front axles here , manual locking hubs.. great truck.. no plastic bumpers here.
How is the JP RV coming???
Patrick94GSR yep! Dukes of Hazard cars for sure!
since i saw this vehicle in this movie for the first time i was in love with it. nothing changed 30 years later. still driving a pickup. still in love with 4x4 and pickups
I want Biff's '46 Ford as my driver. It sounds a lot meaner than this truck. Flatheads 4 ever!!
CCCP Digital Studio Too bad universal studios wont pay for your gas though. lol
Why would I need it? Gas is cheap. The pleasure of driving a V8 is worth every penny spent on gas.
I told my dad if I ever won a brand new ford truck in a sweepstakes I would sell it in a heartbeat.
I actually traded my Toyota Sienna for my dads ford explorer sport tract. Just to help him out. I sold the ford asap. Did I lose money? Definitely.
Sounds like you do all the work. Your dad's the one that's lucky, I hope he appreciates you. He should also listen to you
"best exhaust" dude its a fart can! That truck doesn't deserve a fart can! Get a real exhaust
Hossenfluff your obviously just jealous
Lol you can only do so much to for a 22r as far as the exhaust goes.
What the fuck are you saying?
A fart can is a slang term used for those cheap mufflers people put on their stock hondas and what not that sound like shit.
alex underwood lol right! That stupid Fart can could add 200 hp to the engine and I still wouldn't put one on my trk. They do sound gay for sure! Lol!
i remember when these trucks came out. i was a truck guy ever since i was 5, i wanted one so bad even before the movie
No offence, but it sounds like shit! High revving with not much speed to show for it. Exhaust sounds like it is blowing too.
Looks amazing though and well done for saving it!
bmused55 hahaha I really dont care how it sounds that truck dont need it man is the beast!
The toyota 22r only does so much. They'll happily rev to 5k but its going to sound like it wants to explode while gaining little speed.
Wow so this truck had it's own back to the future experience. Luckily it's restored in full glorie now.
The truck is my favourite BTTF car too. Even after all those years it still stands out and looks way better than any new truck.
For goodness sake, get rid of that hidious sounding exhaust!!!!!
