I was one of those kids in the background watching my Grandmother and Mother film this video! As you can imagine we thought WE were famous! Haha. MJF was the most charming and polite person. He took Family pictures with my family. He held my sister in the photos in that hang inour hallway to this day. We hung out with the whole set. MJF would jump our backyard wall after every cut and smoke. Haha. Then come back and look at the shot, then mingle with us. It's was unbelievable. We rode in the Delorean up and down the street. Some of the best memories in my life..What makes this video even more dear to our hearts is the little blonde boy at the beginning was killed by a Drunk Driver in 2010. He was my Baby Brother. Don't let anyone drive drunk.
+Kyle Mccreery It is a lot of "hurry up and wait", but interesting nevertheless! It's been a while since I've seen the movie but this scene is etched in my mind. Sorry about your baby brother. Good quality on a 1980s video! Take care!
So sorry for the loss of your brother! This video was awesome! I fell in love with MJF on Family Ties and I am so jealous that you guys lived next door to the McFly's ;)!!
People need to appreciate just how raw and awesome this video is! Long before go pros and iPhones. People didn’t even think to catch stuff like this back in the 80s. We use to watch with our own eyes. Now we record everything! So to get this vid is fantastic
Seeing Michael J. Fox hanging out with those kids in the end, you can tell he was really meant to be a father. Absolutely perfect with kids, it’s very heartwarming to watch
I've always said a camcorder is the closest thing to a time machine we'll ever have. I literally felt like I went back in time and was sitting inside the DeLorean watching this scene being filmed. Big thanks to whoever filmed this and preserved it for all this time. This footage is a true gem.
Well, for a movie being filmed in a normal neighborhood, the movie company have to go around to every house in the neighborhood and get permission to film there. If a lot of people don't allow them, they're then forced to make a compromise or film somewhere else. If you just "wake up" to this happening in front of your house one day, that could mean some legal trouble for the movie company!
Michael J Fox is a great man, he shows his appreciation to all who work with him as well as to the neighbours who's fence he jumps as a parting gesture. LEGEND
No almost but Star Wars the first 3 movies were better ;) and have made a continuing franchise, whilst this is now dead. You might say it didn't stand the test of time, although it's one of my favorites ;)
I love the 80's. I'm 46 and still love this movie. God bless Fox. Before everyone on a cell phone, gotta love it. The times we're living in sucks on so many levels. The internet ruined and helped society. I miss the 80's
This is amazing how someone used a camcorder to get all this behind the scenes footage I bet even Michael j.fox would be surprised to see this old video
The best American film of all time. I've been watching it every New Year's weekend (in Russia it's 10 days) for 15 years. This masterpiece helped me to know and understand America better than all the other American films combined!
This is a home video of my in-laws. That adorable little boy in the beginning is Shane McCreery. Unfortunately on Nov 1 2011 he was killed by a drunk driver. The filming of this movie and the kindness MJ Fox showed is something this family will never forget. This film was not put up by the family and to my understanding was stolen, but I am not 100% on the details of that, for those that asked. It's pretty cool that Shane lives on in this and so many people have seen it. He always wanted to be famous! There are pictures of MJ Fox with my husband and sister in law too. Pretty cool.
Micheal J is just so authentic to the core. What a gentleman and to the gent who filmed this, you captured one of the most incredible behind the scenes moments ever. Fantastic worth while video! Thank you!
Michael walks around just like another regular member of the crew. You can tell how everybody admires him. Those girls at the end were so lucky. One of them even wearing a Guess jeans, same brand as Marty's.
I'm always amazed at the sheer amount of WORK required just to set up even simple shots like these. The people, the furniture, the equipment... ALL of it has to be choreographed just right or a lot of time and money is wasted.
This video reminds me so much of being a kid, not only the movie but all of the clothes the crew and family were wearing. I remember my parents and their friends dressing like this. The late 80s/early 90s were the absolute best.
To the lovely neighbors : Thank you for your kindness and welcoming. My girlfriend and I we stayed for a couple of weeks in LA on vacation and I wanted to see this house all my life so we did on the 5th oct. 2024 and as I was taken some few pictures ( I already was nervous as a swimpool ) I saw the sweetest and heartwarming human being the Lady who is living next door to the Marty McFly house ( I know her name out of respect I don’t write it ) I just want to say thank you very much for being so nice to us and for sharing your story’s. living next door for over 40 years is amazing. This was great to watch! Also for those of you that don't know this was during the filming of Back to The Future Part III. This particular segment was when Marty returns home just before he goes to pick up Jennifer. What a great moment captured! It's really nice to see all the cast and crew setting up for the shoot, discussing, rehearsing, then finally filming the scene that we see in the movie!
Thank You for the look behind the scenes of how a movie is made. I have always been a big fan of MJF, I admire how great a actor he is and how he has led his life with dignity.
+overtoke if it was a pro vhs cassette was used (one of the ones with Chromium) that recording was solid for at least 30 years... as long as it wasnt stored near a floor speaker, like lots of people seem to have done.

I don't understand the hate this video is getting. I guess it must be troll Tuesday. I think its fascinating to be a fly on the wall for something so iconic.
Really cool footage! He actually is an amazing guy. My aunt used to work on the set of Family Ties with Michael and I went to a recording of an episode and held his dog on her leash while he used the restroom, and u can hear my cough on that episode to this day🤭 I did it on purpose of course. He was just leaving to go to lunch with my aunt after filming. Best Valentine’s Day EVER! Great guy💕
Que expresivo y cariñoso Michael. Igual que en su trabajo, puro corazón. Siempre me ha parecido un actor muy auténtico. Este video es una joya. Gracias por compartirlo.
It's amazing to see how many people are involved with the production of one scene. It just looks like a bunch of random people standing around doing nothing, but everyone on set has some technical purpose to make sure the job is done correctly.

I found out this was filmed there shortly afterwards the first time because my grandparents lived on Urbana Ave the next street over and my two cousins who lived there told me about it. Funny because an episode Renegade was filmed down the street where I lived at the Renegade Feed Store in San Diego County. My cousin was so happy he was taller than Michael J. Fox, as I remember him telling and so excited!
Wow, these are the rare gems we love so much. Many many thanks, it really is a true gift for all fans. At the same time it reminds me how different the makeup of the actors was in the 3 movies, most differences on the 1985 Biff. But all other actors look different, too. Thats the problem when you shoot 4 years later.
Heck of a thing to see some of the final shots of the movie being filmed first- hand! Everything looks so weird from this angle. . .and the ending, with them giving Michael J. Fox the plush fox, is adorable. :)

Thank you for the video algorithm, these movies were awesome. It's interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes when a movie is being made. Looks like a whole lot of equipment and crew trying to get prepared for the scene. A lot of things have to come together to make it happen but they look like they're enjoying themselves.
When you see things like this it makes you realize just how boring making movies actually is. It's a LOT of pacing, standing, waiting. Then when something happens it's very brief. Then more waiting, standing, pacing, talking, waiting.
+pooch K A 90 minute comedy is more like 1 month worth of filming, not 2 or 3, but still, it can take days just film a few minutes of usable dialogue. You could shoot maybe 15 minutes worth and have only 3-5 after editing. Another thing that slows down filming is anything outside that is time sensitive due to light. You might only a 3 hour window to film and have to try again tomorrow.
Thank you for sharing this. It reminded of when I was on a movie set one time where there was a lot of nothing going on with actors sitting under trees in the shade and someone walking around with a big Kool Aide dispenser on their back handing out drinks. Every now and then everyone would gather up and act out what seemed like a minute or two scene, then stroll back to the shade. I made a comment to the director about this and he looked at me and said, " It's not the time that the scenes take.. it's the time between the scenes that take the time." He kinda sounded like Rosanna Rosanna Danna for a minute.

This is awesome! Visited here 2 years ago. One of the neighbors wifi name is "McFly's Neighbor" hahaha!
Man can you imagine being neighbors of such an iconic movie filming location
thats funny lol
Rest in peace, Wendie Jo Sperber, aka Linda McFly!
Yes so sad ☹️
I LOVED watching this. Like somebody said: it´s time travelling by itself, going back to 1989 from the viewer point of view.
Back before the crew or anyone would say "stop recording". Good footage.
Wow that's really cool, at the end of the video MJF and the random neighborhood kids ❤❤❤
This video is pure gold! Thank you so much for sharing this epic memory :)
Just something so magical about those times...
