    The road version was the biggest surprise for me last year. And is still one of my favorite go-to easy run shoes. So, I am totally down with the cloudsurfer trail version 100%!

    The video review is the best kind of review it’s more in the moment things come to you in real time save the specs till after plus it’s good to see other trails so different from Australia 🇦🇺 👍

      Thanks for the feedback - I also like it better. For me the observations flow easier while I'm on the run, so better to just record them on the spot.

    Thanks for review.... i enjoy the video reviews more than the written ones. Seems like a functional road shoe can cruise the dirt equally. I do like the small 2mm knobs for dry trail running

      Appreciate the feedback. There is a road version, but some commenters mentioned that it made some weird squeaking sounds. I haven't noticed anything yet in the Trail version.

    Hey dude, great review. I love the road runner so very intrigued by this trail version. I was wondering, what's the hydration vest brand you're wearing? Looks light and flexible. Cheers from London

      That's the Patagonia Slope Runner. It fits so well, and I use it when I want to have a really streamlined, light fit for a short-moderate run. No frills, one zipper pocket in the back. Very simple, but I find myself using it so much. It's great too if you want to wear an outer layer over it.

    The founder of On was a triathlon champion and their CO-CEOs are both distance runners. It wouldn't make sense for them to make gimmicky products.

      Not disputing that, but I think that only relatively recently have their shoes (both road and trail) been a big player in the performance realm. They certainly have had more of an athleisure reputation for quite a while. But that has changed.

    Does it still have that Cloudsurfer squeaky sound after some time of use?

    • @tonehhh5454
      @tonehhh5454 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah would like to know if it still has that problem, mine I used sandpaper just to eliminate the squeaky sound

      @@tonehhh5454 Does the sandpaper/nail filer trick really work?

    • @tonehhh5454

      @@xzzdm yes it did work but after several used I heard the squeak sound again and had to rough the area again

      @@tonehhh5454 Thanks! Then it definitely sounds like a design flaw. Hopefully ON fix it in the newer version.

      I do not hear that at all. Do you know where it is coming from - midsole or outsole? Maybe the softness of the trail dampens whatever would cause the noise? I will keep an ear out for sure now.

    Seems to be made for dry hard packed trails. The lack of speedboard or any plate means less protection from rocks and debris, but love the addition of the heel loop. Been using the Cloudsurfer 7 roadie and it is the softest ON I've ever used (still do for my easy days) and I can only imagine to cush on the trail is the same... only issue for me is the cush seems to feel flat after 12km. Do they use missiongrip on these? That's my only gripe with any ON trail shoe... slippery on all wet surfaces in my experience. Great video, have a nice one!

      Yes, dry hard packed trails, paths - that's pretty much the target terrain. I'd probably avoid excessive rocks more from the softness of the midsole rather than the lack of plate/speedboard. My longest run so far in them was 2:10, 14.1M and they felt great throughout. Easy or moderate distance/duration runs - those are the sweet spot for me with these. Yes, outsole is Missiongrip. It's been "ok" in the ONs I've tested, not the tackiest for sure. But again - I'd avoid slippery surfaces on these due to the general nature of the shoe rather than the outsole specifically. After running in these, the road version seems very intriguing..

    So it’s a similar counterpart of the road version with more rugged, threaded outsoles…

    • @RoadTrailRun
      @RoadTrailRun  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yes and appropriate somewhat denser foam

    • @MikeP-RTR
      @MikeP-RTR 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Still only 2.5mm lugs - suitable for paths and light trails. I wouldn't call them "rugged" though
