They’re medium width with space for slightly wider feet, depending on how wide your feet are they may work for you. They’re certainly not as wide as the Cloudmonster 2.
With cloudtecphase it makes sense to first go for light terrain. It would work really different for difficult terrain, I am more interested in the cloud horizon, hopefully a nice upgrade from the cloudWander. My cloudwanders eventually got loose at the foodwidth, Hoping foodwidth it's good for me, Because all kind of waterproof versions seem to have it snug, (pinched) So I get sweaty. Gonna get the cloudpulse for the gym, And considering cloud horizon, But that might be after reviews and some questions to on running about width.
I am looking for an ON shoe to train for a 100 km hike within 24 hours on flat terrain (mainly asphalt). Which ON shoe would you recommend? I am in doupt between the Cloudsurfer Trail Waterproof and the Cloudvista Waterproof. Because the waterproof feature of both shoes is a very welcome feature. Thanks in advance for the advice!
Yeah they will work well on asphalt. They’re super cushioned- you may just experience faster wear on the outsole as it’s a more sticky rubber designed for trails with deeper lugs than road shoes 👍🏼
So I am fairly new to trail running, and would like a shoe that I can do short distance trail runs as well as obstacle racing in (spartan race, savage race, tough mudder, etc.) What would be your best recommendations?
Hey 👋🏼 for OCR I always recommend a shoe like the Salomon Speedcross. The traction on those are awesome. I used them for a couple of Tough Mudders in the past. You could also try the HOKA Speedgoat 5, it’s what I’d use today if I still did ocr racing. Run a search on trailandkale.com for the speedgoat review, and I think I lost the speedcross under best OCR racing shoes in our best trail running shoes guide.
@@trailandkaleThank you so much! I am deliberating between the Salamon Speedcross 6, the new Flux Trail Runners (my daily drivers are the adapt runners and I love how they feel) and the Oncloud Cloudventure (considering these after seeing your review of them). I will for sure checkout the Hoka Speedgoats.
Which one you recommend. I work in a ferris wheel doing maintenance work, and also interacting with people, I walk like 10,000 steps at least, and I'm between this, the cloud 5, and the cloudtilt. Help 😢
The cloudsurfer trail is really nicely cushioned and has great traction - so if you’re big on cushioning underfoot then go with them. The Cloud 5 is an awesome everyday shoe as well but it’s a bit firmer - I love it because of how well they slip on but also they look quite stylish. The Cloudtilt I haven’t tested yet but on paper it should be a bit of a mix between the two in terms of feel.
@@trailandkale That would be cool! Maybe also how it`s vs CloudVista, Cloudventure? Or are those two outdated now? I think so. Cloudventure peak I guess is in its own catatogory are a race shoe.
@AndersGr84 great idea! They’re still very much alive! I guess a video comparing all the on cloud trail running shoes then! I’ll do that as soon as possible- thanks for the suggestion! ✌🏼
I know it´s off topic but what running watch are you wearing and do you like it? My Polar Vantage wants to be retired and I don´t know what to buy next. Edit: Looks like a Garmin Forerunner... right? :)
My misses has the cloud surfer trail waterproof and doesn’t get on with them. She likes the sole, but gets a mark/bruise where the lower lace stitching hits the top of her foot. She also says although these are the first waterproof running shoes she owns, it’s the first time her feet end up wet….. from sweat! She’s disappointed with them of course.
I haven’t had any experience with the waterproof version of these but any waterproof shoe being worn on a hot summers day with undoubtedly make your feet sweat. The very nature of blocking water from the outside makes them not breathable. You need an upper that is breathable to allow heat to escape the shoe, and hence reduce the chance of sweaty feet.
I fell for the hype. They were comfy but not as stable or firm as my speedgoats. Rolled my ankle multiple times with these. Thank god nothing serious. I wouldn’t recommend these for trails.
I'm actually excited to try these cuz I love the actual running shoes version of this
Me too! And the feel is quite similar! 👌🏼
Great video, thanks for all you do!
Thank you for tuning in ✌🏼
Are they roomy like a lot of the newer On shoes? I have a wide foot and it's been nice having another brand that works besides New Balance.

Those are hiking shoes though, and have much stiffer rides.
When is the release date?
They’re available now
Is the sizing similar to the surfer? Or should we size down on the surfer trail?
The sizing is the same 👍🏼
These or the Cloudultra 2 for trail only? Great video
For trail only, the cloudultra 2 - it’s more solid for technical terrain whereas this one is good for road and light trails.
What's the size with Cloud Monster?! Is it the same?
Is it suitable for trail running around 24k?!
The cloudmonster 2 has a larger fit over all, a bit wider too and that one is suitable for 24k too
@@trailandkale thank you!

I’d recommend the cloudsurfer trail over the cloudvista. It’s a much softer enjoyable shoe for hiking on mainly asphalt
Did you find mud getting wedged in the holes of the soles?
No because the holes compress when they contact with the ground
If you had to choose between Speed Goat 5 and Cloud Surfer for a competition or practice, what would you pick?
Speedgoat 5 or 6 for sure
The cloudsurfer trail is a road to trail shoe so it’s not for technical terrain, and it’s not as stable due to the plush cushioning in the midsole.
Hi! What would you recommend for running in the city - mostly in the park on gravel. Cloudsurfer 7 or Cloudsurfer Trail?
Cloudsurfer trail if there’s light trail involved
@@trailandkale Thank you! Just ordered a pair. Very excited 🌞
Let me know how you get on! ✌🏼
Is it good for running on asphalt? To be honest, I like the colorway and will probably use them more often on asphalt roads than on mud and rocks.

@josiahkramer4239 happy to help, and thanks for tuning in! Regarding the Cloudventures, look towards the Cloudultra 2, they’re much better :)

how about if you run in the mud? its difficult to clean i think
I ran in quite a bit of mud in these. I don’t tend to clean off my trail shoes unless they’re totally covered in mud
Cloudsurfer Trail VS CloudUltra 2.0?
Both for very different purposes, wouldn’t help if I put together a VS video?

Yeah that cushioning does unfortunately lack stability.
