  • So we loved the Cloud Surfer 7, yes we did! Will we love the Cloud Surfer Trail?
    The question everyone will ask about this new trail shoe is... does it carry the magic of the Cloud PhaseTec into a trail running shoe? Watch this video and find out what I took away from it as I embark on more trail running.

    Good review mate, that outsole lug pattern screams hard packed trails to me, likely really comfy and good traction in those conditions, I'd say you did incredibly well staying upright in that mud. Great work as always and awesome to see you out in the wet stuff!

    Just shows how well versed the Cloudsurfer 7 is. That's by far the biggest compliment a road shoe can get. To become Trail Runners.

    I wouldn't bother with the waterproof version mate. Reduces drainage. If youre really worried about getting wet feet I would opt for a waterproof sock over a waterproof shoe.

    • @AubreyRunning
      @AubreyRunning  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Never thought of that you know. I have never really needed goretex or waterproof shoes but with this widening of horizons, this is a perfect tip!!! What socks do you recommend

    • @TimGrose
      @TimGrose 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Think it depends how long you are out for and how wet it is actually is. I find my GORE-TEX Pegs great for an occasional trail runner whose idea of a trail is something like old railways where I am looking to minimise mud on heels and essentially provide a waterproof barrier for often runs around an hour. Getting soggy socks on the first puddle in summer uppers is what I want to try and avoid.

    • @AubreyRunning
      @AubreyRunning  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TimGrose I genuinely went out these trying to get as muddy as I could and avoiding puddles and running through them intentionally. I suppose you’re right that I wouldn’t want to do that routinely.

    • @TimGrose
      @TimGrose 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AubreyRunning yeah that can be fun now and again but then you have spend nearly as long as your run cleaning you and them up again and having soggy feet almost as soon as you start a run isn't a feeling I want too often!

      Agreed . In the warmer months the gore- tex shoes get awfully hot.

    Something I have been doing once a week for community on my own is trail clean up I always bring a small plastic bag on trail runs I usual pick furthest point and walk back on trail and clean up its my way of giving back just a idea makes ya feel good clean fun..is a clean run. one love.

    Great video Aubrey, those Cloud Surfers definitely look like forest path/hard packed trails worthy and not for deep mud but also look very comfortable. To me, the best thing about trail running/cross country racing is to treat it as training for road racing in the summer season and it will also strengthen your feet/ankles and lower legs. After all, the hills are known as 'speedwork in disguise' and this applies to trails as well!

    I definitely prefer the trails.., I have to run more roads just based on where I live, but whenever I get the chance and an extra 30 minutes, I will choose the trails that day. as far as running events, I have less problem parting with my money, for a trail event.
    great concise review.., I may look into these..., but I currently have a few miles left in my 2 other trail trainers.
    be well Aubrey .., keep it going

    Agree Ageee Agree mixing up is key not alone for enviroment but to strengthen the legs and feet and work certain muscles not found on smooth pavement I love trail running biggest bonus I've found is soft surfaces take alot of strain off knees and legs and even back...keep it up Aubrey God bless all and have a fantastic day..one love.

    Great review! The Cloudsurfer 7 is definitely one of the best On shoe I have for everyday running comfort, except for the trails... then comes the Cloudsurfer trail. I am inclined to agree that these are not for hardier trails... more for lifestyle trail runs. Lacking a speedboard or any rock protection of sorts underfoot, I think (in paper) taking them on a serious trail run can cause a lot of foot aches and injury due to the overly squishiness of the phase-tec, not to mention the mud-holes 😀... and the mission-grip... Oh man, like Bambi on ice, but I don't know if On has improved on the grip and traction department for this one.
    But seriously, as a lifestyle, or maybe some light road-to-trail outings, these would be perfect. I love the plush and comfort of my surfers (on road), I guess this may be no different (on raods + light groomed trails). But one is enough for me... as I have the Vectiv pros when the outdoors call to me... and its quite a bang! Thanks and have a nice one!

      I think you’re spot on. For technical trails, you something different for sure. These are lifestyle and light trails and if you don’t mind me saying… one of the looking shoes for that bracket.
