It's actually a capacitor that just looks like a battery. Excellent advice about charging it under a light because if it's been kept in a drawer, for instance, the 'battery' will discharge over a few months. These watches are absolutely excellent.
Mine just now needs a replacement cap after 25 years, I agree that they are excellent. Mine is the exact model shown in this video. Direct sunlight will take it from zero to full charge in just a few hours. Other than that, just wear it, it'll take care of itself.
Yes! I have one that I've never worn. It's been sitting in a box in a drawer for a few years and I pulled it out recently to discover it's not working. I immediately assumed the battery was dead and I'd need to replace it. I didn't realize it was solar charging!
Thanks for showing this to us, quite informative, However, considering this rather small screw and the bridge + since this is a real Divers Watch, maybe it's better to buy the battery yourself but leave it to an authorized Watchmaker for this kind of service, because this back cover must be tensioned with a certain strength for 200m and also this gasket which is very important detail, must always! be changed on such an occasion, Regards.
That flicker is code for a problem with the battery, it’s sweet that it will still tell you when it’s more or less dead , needs a charge is a steady two notches steady move charging is a steady one at a time , and you can set date and time and it will keep time accurately till full charge , eco drives are virgin awesomeness, my favourite of all time is my model 8200A cause needs nothing and just keeps going
No! If it's moving let it charge, and the second hand won't act right until the watch is charged and set correctly. Don't replace the battery unless you keep it in the light for days and it's still dead. My dad's watch sat in a drawer and needed 3 days on the window sill to wake back up.
Brilliant video . Thanks for sharing. I have a similar watch and when fully charged it drops very quickly indoors- to about a 1/4 .The watch is running ok and stays at about a1/4 in doors. If i put it in a drawer its stops very quickly. Should I change the battery anyway ?
A buddy of mine gave me a citizen eco drive watch. The tiny second hand like in this video mine was doing. I took the battery out and replaced it with a battery. Its still doing the same thing. Are all citizen eco drive watches solar powered? Ive never thought about it being solar powered before. I dont see any solar panels or anything. Ill try to put it in a window or on the oorch tomorrow when the sun comes up and see what happens. The battery i replaced and the new battery didnt have that little notch thing sticking out on the battery though
Ok consider these steps Step 1: Reinstall the original battery carefully without bending the metal piece on top. Step 2: Place the watch under a bright lamp (like an LED desk lamp) to simulate sunlight. Step 3: Leave it under the lamp for 8-12 hours to recharge. Step 4: Check if the watch functions normally. If not, the battery or charging system may need professional repair.
@watchbatteryguy7421 awwwwwritey man I appreciate it 🍻 I finally found the old battery I threw in the trash yesterday lol. I put it back in and the little second moves some like it's out of power. I put the watch in the window so maybe by lunch time tomorrow it'll be charged enough. I researched what kinda battery it takes, cause couldn't read the old one, took forever but finally found the kind of battery it takes so just went ahead a bought one. If that doesn't work then I'll just stick with zodiac sea dragon lol
@@paulopaniago5972 Yes it looks like a normal watch battery with a lug welded on to it. Loosely called a battery because most folks haven't got any idea what a capacitor does.
Thx 4 the video . I got my citizen eco drive since 1998. Unfortunately in 2020 , kept my watch in a drawer, then suddenly stop working. Didn't know the cause but after this video , probably that battery is gone.
What are the gauges for three. And can you set setting for them. One has 24,6,12,18. The other 20,40,60. And the other the eco drive and that ha d moves like seconds

Thank you so much. I missed the little piece on top the battery and you save me showing how to installed it. 👍🏻
Just changed my battery on this watch thank you for the video👍
No problem 👍

I changed the battery in my dive computer and no water has ever gotten in. Does anyone use a watch for diving these days? 🤔
Awesome Video with great detail. Thank You so Much!
You’re welcome
Hey Thanks very informative video!!! With this video I can do my Promaster Eco drive watch!

Change battery immediately
Just got a Rolan eco-watch. Thought wouldn’t have to mess with battery, but I guess it wears out over time.
My watch has been working for 20 years.
good job
What size gasket does the back take? I need to replace my cap, and would want to replace that while I'm at it, esp. due to the age of the watch.
Can you do a capacitor swap on a CITIZEN eco drive caliber 2100 (AV0031-59A Eco-Drive Calibre 2100)
Thanks👍👍
Loved the video👍👍

Straight line speed is great, but it's all about the curves. However, dollar for dollar vs what you get in speed, the Panigale takes the W.
Amazing since Eco-Drive doesn't have a battery! They use capacitors which are a completly different technology.
Well Said
Semantics Bro.
what is the difference between battery and capacitor? Is that watch in the video fake? Or is the capacitor physically similar to the battery?

Sorry to hear that. Put it under a lamp for 24 hours and then determine if it needs a battery replacement.

Hello please where is the AR Point located
А прокладку смазать?
Вы можете, если хотите.
how long does a capacitor last on average?
In my experience, 3-5 years. If you keep the watch charged, it can last for longer.
What fake watch and fake battary will mach🤣🤣🤣🙈👍
What did this poor watch do to deserve this? Nothing that you said made any sense.
How to convert a solar to a regular battery movement?
