Dear Joe something good came out of Birmingham...you! Just finished watching your 1920’s Omega pocket watch. Like everyone else I am blown away with you, the first person in my 73yrs to show me how to change the oil in my watch...no the first I have ever seen the dissembling and reassembling of a watch. I come from an aviation family and have long wondered how men made gears springs shafts etc for clocks then watches centuries ago.....how did they do it? They needed gauges jigs cutting milling tools etc. Am very happy to subscribe. May I tell you of a car mechanic who told a surgeon “basically I do the same as you do...I change old parts for new parts.” The surgeon replied “yes, but can you do it with the motor still running? Joe you are a surgeon.

I have the Blue Angels version eco-drive. What a great watch. It’s over 20 years old and has required less maintenance than a couple of my more expensive watches. I can’t read the bezels any longer as the font is too small but I can still tell the time. Lol.
I used to do minor repairs to watches 30 years ago but gave it up for some reason or other that I can’t remember. But, watching these videos of yours has reignited the want to start again and I have a simple project to start with. My dear departed dads old smiths pocket watch has languished in a drawer for over twenty years and although it works, it can only manage about five minutes running before giving in. It’s such a basic model that it has no jewels in the movement at all, but is in quite good nick. So I’ll see how I get on with that one. Great to see a master craftsman in action. 👍
Jeez, did this guy stop a bullet with this watch? I don't ever remember seeing one so hammered before! Beautiful job on this resto, sir. This watch looks absolutely great!
Nice to hear your son is growing up properly! Learning from his Dad. Even watching the PROPER Mr Men with the incomparable Arthur Lowe. Fantastic job on the watch too. (As always)

I don't know what to say. Absolutely wonderful job my good man! I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video. Kudos to you and your step-by-step commentary really added to my watching experience! Thanks so much for this!
I don't know what to say here but what jumped into my mind watching the finished product. It looks like it's new out of the box. I'm not exaggerating. If you didn't know the crystal was supposed to be domed, this looks like a brand new watch. Honestly, only an expert would know what to look for to say it was "not perfect". What a beautiful restoration.
Thoroughly enjoyed watching this, and maybe because I collect Citizen watches, and this is a model I have. It was great to see the intricate workings of it. Well done, a great job done.

@@wizardofahhhs759 Citizen can replace the rechargeable battery (It's not a capacitor as a lot of people state). You might even be able to do it yourself but you risk not having it be waterproof after.
@@wizardofahhhs759 I was talking to some Citizen experts and they said the trick with these Ecodrive units, especially the higher end high consumption like these U600s, is to keep them charged all the time with daily exposure to outside daylight, never put in a drawer/ never let it discharge. They should then have 80% efficiency at 20 years.

A beautiful restoration of a classic watch. I have the titanium version of this watch and it's 12 years old and still pristine. The damage to that was criminal, but you've done an amazing job. P.S. I used to love the Mr. Men when I was a child :-)
"It's not perfect" he said? It was totally junk before and you made it close to brand new as you can get. I would have thrown it away, lol. You're a master at your work, nice to see there are some left.

When you walk in if you are not a pilot you have no idea what all that stuff does because you are IGNORANT to it, but a pilot knows exactly what they do and if he wants to check airspeed he knows exactly where to go without wasting time fumbling with the rest of the instruments. in closing please stick to your depth.
My dad has one too! Hes an ex pilot and used it all the time to make calculations. I dont know what Ivan is talking about lol... unfortunately my dads starting running into issues a couple years ago and the repair place told him he couldn't do it but this video gave me some hope and perhaps I will have it repaired in time for Xmas.
Peter Nicholsonu thank you Peter for you lovely comment.
You did an AMAZING job, repairing that badly damaged Citizen! All the best to you and your family for 2022.
When you described it's completed look and said: *"not perfect"* understand that perfect is brand new; and sometimes *even they have flaws.*
If an item gives ppl a sense of joy b/c it is pleasing to the eye, then to me this watch is *"perfect".....Well Done.*
I appreciate the care and the skill you are bringing to this humble Citizen. I love the Eco-drive watches and it's nice to see you bring this one back to life.
Did you just randomly pressed the battery indicator to show EUR and the function indicator to point WT-S instead of TME??
I enjoy hearing your son. My dad never had the patience to teach me anything. He could not tolerate children in his workspace, so it is really nice to see that you are teaching your son your skills.
Thank you for this video. I literally just refurbished one of these--no broken glass--but a good cleaning, new crystal, power cell, etc. I rewatched how you released the stem.
I'm impressed to see the large movement in the large case. So often you see big watches with tiny movements inside surrounded by huge spacers.
Beautiful piece. Luv to hear ur son laugh out loud and so happy to be in ur presence. Very Noble of u to work as well as include family interactions at times. So relaxing to watch u in ur Craft bringing beautiful piecies to LIFE again. Such an Artist with a great Sense Of Humor as well. Brightens my mood even more, and thank u so much for sharing. I really appreciate u, until next TIME!
You’re really a “right hand” watch master! My respect👍
Jeez, did this guy stop a bullet with this watch? I don't ever remember seeing one so hammered before! Beautiful job on this resto, sir. This watch looks absolutely great!
Really great to hear a kids voice in the background. Makes life worth while.
Nice to hear your son is growing up properly! Learning from his Dad. Even watching the PROPER Mr Men with the incomparable Arthur Lowe. Fantastic job on the watch too. (As always)
Thanks mate
I have had one of these for 15 years and had some bad scratches on the crystal. My watch repairman made it look new also cleaned the bracelet. Such a great watch.
Fantastic workmanship. I am interested in knowing how much a restoration like that would cost. Loved the sound of your child enjoying himself in the background.
The patience , and wisdom of "Jobe" much respect sir ...
I don't know what to say. Absolutely wonderful job my good man! I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video. Kudos to you and your step-by-step commentary really added to my watching experience! Thanks so much for this!
Lou Periera thanks lou
I don't know what to say here but what jumped into my mind watching the finished product. It looks like it's new out of the box. I'm not exaggerating. If you didn't know the crystal was supposed to be domed, this looks like a brand new watch. Honestly, only an expert would know what to look for to say it was "not perfect". What a beautiful restoration.
Thoroughly enjoyed watching this, and maybe because I collect Citizen watches, and this is a model I have. It was great to see the intricate workings of it. Well done, a great job done.
I am so glad someone still carries on this skill. True Talent
I have this exact same watch and found this video fascinating as I've always wondered what it looks like on the inside. Great job repairing, you sure know what you're doing. I hope my watch never sees damage like that. Lol. I need to get my citizen navihawk AT fixed.
I have watched your videos for several years, and I must say you have a very calming voice and I enjoy watching, even though I do not do watch repair! You and your apprentice :) do very nice work and I am amazed at the results. Thanks for the video.
Thank you 🙏
Great job. Love your son’s laugh as it’s cute and real. We’ve all got to do what we’ve got to do during lockdown. Enjoying your work
Thanks and you are very correct
It is so great that you have your son helping. Good for you.
I really enjoyed this video much more than I thought I would. You did some great work on the Skyhawk. You've made me want to give my old Skyhawk a second life by restoring it.
I have watched many of Joe's videos and he is a Master Craftsman. I think that's the best way to describe what he does.
I love my Citizen Skyhawk. It’s never been fast or slow over the past 12 years I’ve had it. Always keeps perfect time with UTC time that nasa uses.
I have the Blue Angels model too, sadly it quit after about 15 years, haven't decided whether to send it in to Citizen or just buy another.
Nice watch with bad crystal hartlex glass.i Sold mine and bought a Citizen Eco Perpetual cal. With a Sapphire crystal glass.Less to stess about.
Thanks this guy is a genius with watches.
Just brilliant videos.. It shows how much of an amazing watch maker you are and I hope your son will follow in your footsteps. Please continue the great work you do and your passion shines through.
Thanks mate
By far one of the best videos I've seen on TH-cam
I loved listening to your son laughing, you are a very patient father
Haha MR men. I remember those books from my childhood. You’ve bought a smile to my face joe. Also your son is funny and nice to hear him learning and having fun
Brings back a lot of memories.
Must be a european thing never heard of him...🤷
Beautiful watch! It’s also a joy to hear your little boy talking and laughing in the background.
Thanks jim
Completely astonishing! You've done a marvelous job repairing that watch. Congrats!
Is there anything that can beat this guy he fixes everything and makes it look simple I have 1968 Brietling and enjoyed watching him strip down and rebuild the Navitimer thinking I wish it were mine that he was servicing All the best for the future to you and your family
This channel is gonna send me broke , there are now 4 1000+ dollar watches I NEED to have !
how strange, I found my Skyhawk the other day and this was recommended. What a beautiful reconstruction. Your sons laugh is a joy to hear, thankyou for a great video.
It's not only work of a master, it's kind of magic!
I've got one of these and seeing how to fix it is invaluable. The last service cost me £144 at the UK Citizen Service Centre!
You've done fantastic job repairing and restoring that watch. If it was my watch I'd be very happy.
Tim Gore thanks Tim, appreciate your comment
There always seems to be at least one child that loves being with his dad God bless you Joe ✨❤️✨
Thanks mate
That was great to watch. I received the titanium version of this watch from my mom just after my dad passed. It was in rough shape cosmetically, but not quite as bad as this one. Citizen Canada restored it back to like-new condition for me.
Thanks for the tour of its components.
If you don't mind, could you tell me the cost of the restoration?
A watch face that looks like an aircraft's instrument cluster, very cool. Excellent job Joe and assistant .
A beautiful restoration of a classic watch. I have the titanium version of this watch and it's 12 years old and still pristine. The damage to that was criminal, but you've done an amazing job. P.S. I used to love the Mr. Men when I was a child :-)
I have a skyhawk u600 and to me this was the most educational piece I've seen on this watch ,thank you for sharing
I saw it till the end ,and you done really a great job with actual care.
murad malik thanks mate I really appreciate your comment
Nekkid Watchmaker fantastic video and great workmanship, your little watchman is awesome.
Beautifully done. The laughs of the young apprentice remind of my son when he was small. Thanks for the great videos.
"It's not perfect" he said? It was totally junk before and you made it close to brand new as you can get. I would have thrown it away, lol. You're a master at your work, nice to see there are some left.
I've had my Eco Drive Calibre 8700 for at least 15 if not more years and it is the most accurate, reliable watch I've ever owned. I wear it all the time and was in the transport industry for most of those years, so it wasn't mollycoddled. Great watches - mine has never had anything done to it - original capacitor and all.
One of the nicest informative teaching videos presented with devotion and love. I enjoyed it a lot. Thank you for sharing your expertise in an inspiring way.
I don't know why I spent 25 minutes, not counting the ads, watching a guy restore and revive and a watch I don't even own !
I'm either a junkie for redundant knowledge or maybe the guy is just captivating in what he does and how he does it. Either way, this was a great restore and I have enjoyed watching this video.
Another great job! Not my kind of watch tbh but I do love to watch the meticulous method you take with all your repairs. Thanks for posting and more power to you!💪
Hi all. I must agree with The Geezer. Don’t sell yourself short. Considering what you had to work with, the end result is nothing short of spectacular. Well done sir, well done 👍
I have exactly two of these Skyhawk watches. One of them still brand-new in the box. It is my all time favourite timepiece. It was so much fun to watch you restore it. I now have a good idea how this watch is assembled. The video is as usual superb. I love your commentary and your humor.
I have never previously considered a Citizen watch to be a thing of beauty, but you have made it so
Enjoyed the child laughter in the background. Soothing video.
Sometime ago, one of my daughters had a similar Citizen which let her down, so I gave her a rare Seiko Flightmaster, the legendary SNA411P1. This beauty is something else, and you patiently restored it to its former glory. Billie sat, riveted and thrilled. See Joe? You're putting fire into my watchmaker daughter, and she loves your gentle ways. Much love and grateful thanks, Wendi 🌻 PS. I forgot you asked you asked about filming equipment. Billie suggests you use an iPhone 13 pro/ canon g7x mark ii. Then all will be good in 4K.
Man I thought once installing intel computer's procesor in new motherboard needs precision. Great job.
lol! spot on.
I just found your channel and I straight-away watched three of your videos. Please keep making content. I don't even care about watches but after watching the beauty and elegance of the process, I want one. I also really appreciate your narration, humor, and patience. much love
Thanks Emil
I've had the same citizen for the past 20 years. Ripppa job brotha!
Never saw a eco drive repair before and never knew these movements use jewels. Great video.
I love watching your videos! As a watch collector, it’s so satisfying watching you bring them back to their original beauty and function. I look forward to watching many more. Be blessed!
Wonderful thorough restoration. It seems something of a lost art in today's disposable world. What a privilege see someone so skilled at work
Thank you
I have one of those. I thought mine was in bad nick as it has a small scratch on the crystal. I guess it is not so bad after all.
Your videos helped me restore my old watch by myself. It was a fun experience. thank you for putting your videos out there. And you are an amazing watchmaker. Thank you,
That’s great to hear mate, well done
Man as always…this watch is absolutely beautiful 🤩!!
Thanks roger
It's fantastic that you're son shows interest in your work
And I thought modding my seiko skx007 was tough, good job, watch looks excellent 👍
