Considering that he traveled from the moon to earth in ~19 seconds, that's also about 3x the speed of light. MaraMara 13 Even freakier Boros tell Saitama in the anime, "You were too strong." While in the manga he states, "You are too strong." Which has an entirely different connotation to it.
Fizz The "you were" makes it seem like Boros could potentially see someone beating Saitama and that Saitama was just too strong for him. The "you are" presents the idea that no one should be able to fight Saitama, or better put, Boros can't even imagine anyone else on such a level. First meeting Boros, we learn no one was a challenge for him. In his mind, he is too strong and he can't enjoy the exhilaration of a fight. @@medexamtoolscom you're.... kidding right? The whole basis if the show is to apply real science to fiction to see how it would work in the real world... the calculations are totally accurate even though the concept of a man punching that hard is astronomically impossible.
I think you've underestimated it by a pretty wide margin. The difference between the serious punch and a volcano is the amount of material being displaced. In the volcano, the material gets pressurized until it is too much and it bursts out. The amount of material shooting out would be able to displace more of the atmosphere more easily because it's more voluminous. The pattern of force would be similar to a balloon stretching outward at high speed. When you consider the serious punch, you have to think about the size of the object applying the force. In this case, his fist would have made contact with a much smaller quantity of material, given the size of his fist and the distance it travels. Force is also largely being applied in a single direction. He's also standing on a ship up in the sky, where the air density would be pretty low to begin with. In order for the quantity of air he makes contact with to have that effect on the planet, the force being applied to it would have to be an incredible amount higher than what you described. Of course, you could make the argument that there is some kind pressurized substance in Boros' blast that he makes contact with. If that were the case, and he was punching against a pressurized substance, then the force would probably be more 'reasonable', for lack of a better word. Let's call it anime reasonable. Still a lot more than you estimate, though, I would think.
No it would still reqire the same amount of force, the thing is that saitamas punch needs to be much faster. He meant that the energy was constant so if m gets way smaller then v gets bigger it's (mv^2)/2=E . The energy needed to move air a certain bit is still the same regardless if it's a volcano or fist. The fist just has to move waaaayyyyy faster
I think the overall point was missed here. He wasn’t calculating the satirical strength that Saitama is actually capable of, rather a baseline so we have an idea how high he can actually be at. 10^32J would just be the lowest point we can assume at this stage. Theoretically the number could be far, far higher.
Frank Heile, a physicist at Stanford, calculated that the force required to accelerate the Earth to the escape velocity of the Sun, around 42km per second from the Earth's distance, is around 4×10^32. This figure is very close to the figure you gave for Saitama's serious punch. This means that if Saitama could hit the Earth with this amount of energy without destroying it, he could knock the Earth from its orbit around the Sun.
He wouldn't have to hit the Earth with the punch. In fact, all he would have to do is punch straight up into the air. Assume anime logic so that he wouldn't drill himself directly into the ground. By Newton's 1st law, the force he puts into his punch is exerted back equally and oppositely onto him, which in turn would be imparted into the Earth. So if he aimed that punch directly into the air, then he would effectively be pushing the planet in the opposite direction.
According to Blast the collision between two Serious Punches could destroy the whole planet at least. But when Garou tried to kill Saitama they nearly broke the barrier that seperates Saitama's dimension from Blast's dimension. So, it's even possible that Saitama could destroy the whole universe with a Serious Punch depending on how serious he gets.

The question gets even weirder when you look at some of the promotional/explanatory stuff. In it it was stated that Boros was already planet killing level with his restricting armor on. The explanation for his downplaying of the power of his final attack was due to him having developed the attack long after putting on the armor and not truly knowing how strong he was.
Well we've seen it done before in other sci-fi (Star Wars did it first and the Disney canon did it to death) so everyone's already talked about how to blow up planets, but a more specific attack would require more careful consideration.
When he was using his ultimate move, Boros states that Saitama was holding back. Saitama even states as much. But even the shockwave was enough to kill Boros, and part the clouds on a global scale.
RobDav actually, a number divided by zero can be whatever you want it to be, which makes the original joke even better. Because Saitama has whatever power level is wanted
I have this absurd theory that, with his training, Saitama somehow surpassed the actual limits of all matter. So Saitama's Serious Punch basically shreds reality, creating a brief effect like the event horizon from black holes, where everything it collides has its matter warped. This would explain (not actually) how he didn't also destroy earth with a attack stronger that the move that was supposed to destroy earth lol
Well your theory is spot on, (this is not really a terrible spoiler it confirms your theory but...) In the manga the evolution guy from the start of the show(black hair the one with the clones) stated that Saitama likely broke his biological limiter, explaining that all living things have a limiter on their strength. But Saitama somehow broke it.
He didn't destroy the earth with the attack because he used it to stop boros' attack and it was just a little bit stronger because he can control how strong he can be

Anyone ever talk about how boros punched saitama so hard how and chasing him down how he liquefied everything they passed? Instantly killing all those alien peons onboard? What kind of energy or feats for that?
Carlos Ortega I think people are just more astonished with the vaporization is because it takes exponentially more energy to instantly turn solids into gases than it does to turn them into liquids/ melt them. So when compared, the ship melting isn’t all that impressive; although, it is very cool to watch
@@Blitznn10 Fun fact. When Boros launched Saitama to the moon Saitama reached the moon within 3 seconds. Which means he went from essentially 0km/h to about 1/3 of the speed of light. That kind of acceleration would disintegrate literally any known matter in the universe. The amount of energy required to accelerate something like that superexceeds any of the numbers brought up in this video by orders of magnitude. The only way to make something travel that fast, instantaneously, would require very high end space time bending tech. Realistically, the force from saitama flying away would likely have wiped out a section of the earth below him killing everyone nearby. Source: Physics/Chem Degrees.
@@kazacorp6105 I like that it makes sense, after all Boros' strongest attack can destroy the Earth, so he using a little less energy would be able to destroy at least a chunk of it.
How to calculate Saitama's power 1. You get 2 zeroes then you stack it up and now you have eight 2. You flip the eight horizontally and now you got the infinite sign That's how strong Saitama is.
Uhm Kyle? Question. Three actually. a)Ironically, even though in the punch in this case isn't a huge beam of glowing energy, I believe it should kinda be, at least the clouds that are parted by Saitama's punch. Because given the outright ludicrous amount of energy he exerts while punching, shouldn't all that be able to ionise the air and even turn it to plasma? I mean, I guess the move would scientifically look even cooler than in the anime!! b) Given smart boi Sir Isaac Newton's third law, shouldn't exerting all that force in one direction cause some serious damage to the earth as well? c) With the huge amount of energy in this punch exerted within such a small amount of time, how devastating would the resulting sonic boom be (or would there be one at all?) As always, love the show and keep it up!
For the second one, Saitama was standing on a spaceship floating above the surface. This ship should be able to absorb quite a lot of energy, maybe enough to not damage the earths surface as much.
@@xMckingwill The ship did manage to absorb the impact of Saitama jumping back from the moon without touching the earth. So it can absorb quite an impact. I don't know the numbers, but it will make a difference, especially in a setting like this.
Well considering all that, the ship did finally break after that punch (if im correct) and the crystal ball thing shattered at that point. It does make sense that the ship would have absorbed a lot of that energy. Take note that almost everyone in the vicinity was already dead aside from the s class and aliens (and giant sturdy building)
thats the power system of the world, saitama defeats villains with one punch, he fought genos, destroyed a mountain behind him, didnt affect genos at all, same thing to the mosquito, didnt affect him at all, my theory is he cant hurt things society doesnt consider "villains" , i assume blast will be someone who can defeat anyone and didnt put the limitation on himself
Look at where saitama and genos are standing after saitama uses "death punch" right after dust settles, and look at where the punch power is coming from..

The Earth's crust has a total mass of approximately 2.7 x 10^22 kilograms. so to vaporize the entire crust of the earth in a second this is the equation. Energy = mass x heat of vaporization Energy = (2.7 x 10^22 kg) x (10^6 J/kg) Energy = 2.7 x 10^28 joules he is off by 100 times but the energy take to vaporize the entire Earth he is correct
In case anyone is wondering, the most powerful nuclear bomb ever detonated had a yield of 50,000 megatons, or the equivalent of 2500000 fatman bombs dropped in ww2. Boro's blast would be around 4.7 trillion of the most powerful nuclear bomb ever detonated.
Given the crazy energy levels and the accelerations wouldn't OPM be ejecting portions of our atmosphere with that final strike? At the very least such a high pressure wave would surely cause massive global storms across the planet as it distorts and disrupts the natural weather patterns across the planet. Possibly such weather changes would be be felt for years to come as the chain of pressure fronts propagated
Remember when the sonic ninja guy’s crotch landed on Saitama's fist? Imagine the pain of that. Even though his fist is stationary, his ninja groin landing on a volcano. 😂
He was measuring the energy output of the shock wave of an eruption, not the heat of the eruption itself. He was measuring FORCE, not HEAT, so a stationary fist isn't going to do anything at all. The only thing being calculated there would be Speed-O-Sound's own acceleration and instantaneous deceleration against a fist-sized object.

First meeting Boros, we learn no one was a challenge for him. In his mind, he is too strong and he can't enjoy the exhilaration of a fight.

Then make a fucking video loser. Don't plague this guys comment section with your condescending know-it-all bullshit
How strong his punch is?
So strong that even someone who knows the enemy saitama punched would forget like the enemy never existed.
And possibly destroy it with only a little more of his strength, as boros said that Saitama had strength to spare.
Hmm, I wonder if ONE did all math before making that scene.
But, its a closed system. So what would end up happening is that Sitama would just evaporate every thing on the Earth.

That kind of acceleration would disintegrate literally any known matter in the universe. The amount of energy required to accelerate something like that superexceeds any of the numbers brought up in this video by orders of magnitude. Because given the outright ludicrous amount of energy he exerts while punching, shouldn't all that be able to ionise the air and even turn it to plasma? b) Given smart boi Sir Isaac Newton's third law, shouldn't exerting all that force in one direction cause some serious damage to the earth as well?

AceTriggerz 50 megatons, so yeah, 2500 fatman bombs
50 megatons not 50,000
AceTriggerz is that strong?
I think his serious mode is just a "im gonna fukcing end this" mode rather than his full strenght
"His strength comes from satire and not any backstory" Half of the episodes of season 1 have either a sequence or dialogue about his backstory.
A satirical backstory, probably not true anyway...
@@shadesilverwing0 Have you watched it?
@@cristianiacob1050 You know that doing 100 squats, push ups etc. can't give u that amount of strenght even if you trained your whole life.
Armin Ibrahimovic I do more than that around every day, gotta say man, I’m at least 2,000x weaker than him
@@arminibrahimovic9856 I think y'all missed the point of Cristians comment that even though is it meant to be funny Saitama does have a backstory..
Who is stronger thanos or saitama
Like if saitama
Comment if thanos
Thanks for so many likes
Thanos solos the verse lol
Saithanos
Moto moto
Saitama punches back Thanos's snap.
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap is stronger
Given the crazy energy levels and the accelerations wouldn't OPM be ejecting portions of our atmosphere with that final strike? At the very least such a high pressure wave would surely cause massive global storms across the planet as it distorts and disrupts the natural weather patterns across the planet. Possibly such weather changes would be be felt for years to come as the chain of pressure fronts propagated
Waste heat would be an issue too. Talk about Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming!
this is too smart for my brain
"how powerful is saitama's serious punch" answer: he Obliterated an alien and burnt and discombobulated and well just killed em
The exception to the "you are stronger than what you can shrug off" rule is often seen in Pokemon. We're looking at you, shuckle
You say that now... but Shuckle is the pokemon that has the priviledge of being able to land the strongest hit in the franchise.
Season 2 of One Punch Man starts Apr 9th and I'm stoked. I hope you are too, Kyle.
Its literally one day before my birthday. Best birthday gift ever
Dewah77 Happy early birthday
Thx
Today
Remember when the sonic ninja guy’s crotch landed on Saitama's fist?
Imagine the pain of that. Even though his fist is stationary, his ninja groin landing on a volcano. 😂
Hope the dude never wanted to have kids cause that's off the table after that.
Rip my man speed o sonic or something lol
Is like hitting your balls with a truck on fire
He was measuring the energy output of the shock wave of an eruption, not the heat of the eruption itself. He was measuring FORCE, not HEAT, so a stationary fist isn't going to do anything at all. The only thing being calculated there would be Speed-O-Sound's own acceleration and instantaneous deceleration against a fist-sized object.
Stance TB Jack o lantern panic
05:30 This scene always remind me of vegetas call in dragonball z sayan saga, Galic gun vs Kamehameha, please proceed.
I would like him to calculate the amount of force that Kirby needed in order to strike a planet busting meteor and to send it 9999 light years away in 20 seconds, destroying 9 planets and one UFO in the process.
