    Well, the thing is you need to get the good flavours. If you get stuff like those weird watermelom ones, or the ones with no frosting or something, you won't like em because no one likes em. If you get the chocolate ones, or the smore ones, or the blueberry ones, then you're getting the good shit.

    • @Ruinah
      @Ruinah ปีที่แล้ว +28

      Nah, it's clearly the difference in pastry standards of Europe vs other countries. In a vacuum, pop tarts taste okay if a bit dry and are really meant to be toasted, especially if you have a classic bread toaster to "pop" them into. But when you compare the option of having a pop tart with say, a bakery-fresh Danish, then pop tarts pale in comparison. But not everywhere is like Germany/Austria, where there are bakeries in every little village and big city, so that's where Pop Tarts shine.

    • @douglassun8456
      @douglassun8456 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      @@RuinahWell, yeah, if I could have bakery-fresh European pastry miraculously appear in my kitchen cupboard every day, I wouldn't buy Pop Tarts at all. But I would also say that the fillings are the point of Pop Tarts more than the pastry. The intensity of the flavor is probably what got Subaru hooked, knowing that Japanese snacks are more subtle.

    • @orangejuice3235
      @orangejuice3235 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@RuinahI don't like cream cheese, so danishes really aren't my thing most of the time. I'd much rather have a turnover or a strudel.
      I can see where you're coming from with them being dry. If you're more into fluffy pastries I can see why someone wouldn't like them. But they're really not that bad, it's basically just frosting and jam. There's not really anything to hate unless the high sugar is too sweet for your tongue.

    Why are people comparing Pop-Tarts to bakeries and homemade baked goods? They are not that. This is not their competition. They are a thing you can stick on your shelf and they last a very long time, so if you ever need a quick breakfast or snack, oh, Pop-Tarts, right there. Easy, quick, tastes fine, and filling enough. You can even grab them right as you're going out the door since they aren't going to leave your hands all messy or sticky.
    We have bakeries and things in America as well. If I want to bake my own pastry, I can, and have done this plenty of times. If I want to run out and get an item from a bakery, I can do that instead. What I can't do is put all these freshly baked goods in my cupboard for five months, come back to it, and have it just as fresh and tasty as it was when I baked or bought it. (Which, when you live in a sparsely populated area like most of America, where it's a 30 minute *drive* one way on no traffic roads to your grocery store, is an extremely useful convenience.)
    They're really not that bad at all.

    • @zerosusaku
      @zerosusaku 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The comparision comes mostly because in i go with the Joke in Australia you have Cafes and Bakerys everywhere where you can get something fresh. There is also a different Culture where instead of always munching storebought crap you sit down somehwere and enjoy something fresh. Also even Supermakets here have mostly Bakerys where you get dalys fresh stuff. And even if you want something that holds up a bit longer or cheaper you usualy have a huge variety of Deserts you can buy.

    As someone who grew up eating this junk, I can say the reason we "like" them is not the taste. It's because American society pushes so much sugar on us, we get desensitized and addicted to it. After long enough, you need something with like 50g of sugar just to get over the gluten intolerance threshold. In other words, two frosted pop tarts or two candy bars. Once I got off sugar for a long time, then tried to eat a pop tart again, I felt sick. Same with almost any sugar besides like a small amount of dark chocolate. But the people who are still stuck in the sugar cycle don't recognize it.

    Poptarts are great, if you really want the experience of a cheap machine-mass-produced lump of processed sugar, artificial flavourings and shitty pastry off a conveyor belt. But I guess some (read; many) are into that.

    Kiara is still too young to understand the concept of different points of view. Like Kronii used to eat subway and still hates peanut butter. Not to mention there are many people thinking this whole vertuber thing is stupid. So welcome to twisted world Kiara

      Ironically a very immature way of framing someone with different tastes. This isn't a problem with "not understanding different points of view", this is Kiara "coming from a place of genuine bakery superiority that makes pop-tarts terrible redundant."

      The concept of different taste and food preferences based on location and nationality is very known to marketing. For Europe market pop tarts and many other US products are too sweet. We emphasis more on a overall flavor. Like the pastry should have butter or honey taste. The filling mild sweet, leaning to sour or hint of bitter like in real fruit. As EU is not desert with fertile soil and making home made jam and that butter biscuit is common. Its actually a Charismas and Easter sweets. But the ratio is 10:1 pastry to spread. In sense you eating jam flavored butter pastry not jam covered in pastry.

      @@scasnythey are not even just too sweet. They are heavily processed, they just taste like industrial stuff.
      Compared to pastries European have (even the packaged ones) they are just mid.
      I don't have problems with people who like them but I can definitely understand why a lot of Europeans wouldn't like them.
      And it's not just about America vs Europe. There are a lot of things Europeans like in American cuisine. Pop tarts are just honestly not good to be in this category.

      Bro, peanut butter is just cream nut in your mouth. No satisfying crunch, just an unnatural sensation that triggers a gag reflex. 0/10

    The E*ropean flavor palate is merely not refined enough to appreciate the true exquisite delicacy of a raspberry pop-tart toasted at 3.5 to perfection

    I dislike pop tarts. I've eaten them before but they're just way too sweet. However, I understand why people like them. All that sugar and carbs could make anyone's brain hold a rave party.

    From what I remember, Poptarts taste like the blandest bread substance in existence that has been soaked in super saturated sugar water, with extra sugar on top.
    You can't change my mind, literally. I can't eat them any longer now that I've developed a gluten intolerance, so my opinion is now permanent.

      I've met a lot of people who hate them like you do.
      I don't love them, but they are a very cheap dense high calorie snack that lasts forever. I often pack them when I'm working hard hiking through the bush all day (making geological maps and rock sampling).
      I wouldn't eat them when I'm not at work though, they are too sweet tasting.
