One of my German teachers said that it's well known among language teachers that a little alcohol does in fact make it easier to speak a foreign language you're not fully comfortable with. (She also told us that even so, we should *not* show up tipsy to our oral exams.)
Or you could just show up overtired. Sleeping disorders lead to frontal lobe disinhibition which is the exact same thing that Alcohol does to your brain.
I am listening and writing in english for years... And my speaking is not that bad, but when I have to do it in front of people, stress make me unable to say anything. So I can understand alcohol being helpful. You overthink less, you are more relax etc.
Alcohol often makes you think less and talk more which can be useful if nervous. Now that I think about it, most of the times I had long conversation in english there was some alcohol involved
Basic spoken Japanese is actually surprisingly easy once you grasp the logic of it and learn some words. The difficulty of the language is definitely elsewhere. For JP members though, English is hard as hell because of near 0% immersion they get naturally, so their ears literally cannot distinguish the sounds, and their tongues can't twist properly. Not helped by Japanese having butchered versions of half he English vocabulary, so it's very hard for Japanese people to accept that their version of the word is often not even close to how it sounds in English. But Kronii has definitely improved. With the help of the power beer, she's nailing these conversations.
I think quite a few of them under estimate how good their English actually is. Sure the grammar might not always be their, but the near clear pronunciation and the ease of being able to understand what they are trying to get across cannot be denied. Mad respect to Polka and the other JP girls for the hard work.
very cute polka and kronii. kronii drinking beer for this reason is amazing, quite amazing already that kronii's drinking beer during a collab, didn't expect that at all.
It pretty much does, grunts of affirmation are a very common thing when speaking Japanese. It's considered polite to nod and make noises of affirmation to indicate you're listening when someone is speaking. It can throw you off the first time it happens in Japan, since they'll do it almost anytime there's a pause in your speaking and it will distract you if you're not expecting it. On the flip side, once you get used to it and speak to English speakers you might find yourself doing it without thinking and driving them nuts XD
What is Beer? It’s what you’re drinking. These are the small, natural comebacks I live for, something I could never accomplish and would roll in my bed in regret for not having thought of them. Polka is a treasure.
For real! Polka had Kronii so mentally cornered, I swear she was Light Yagami in a past life. Totally nice blown when she challenged Kronii to smack her drink against her head, and rationalized that people don't generally make such loud drinking noises when just drinking water. Multiple back to back galaxy brain moments.
I mean it makes sense, if she were completely sane she'd be an awkward shy mess. Being a little tipsy makes her feel at ease especially with the JP girls.
@@shinigamimiroku3723 I'm gonna go on a tangent, compared to Kronii I just drink to stfu because I get a lot quieter when I drink. It weirdly makes me play games better with friends lmao.
I don't think it was much about her being shy/awkward, but that when you try to speak a foreign language, you usually overthink whatever you are trying to say, and having a bit of alcohol in your system helps with that.
Polka could be a clown and a tease, but she's also smart and cunning, as expected from a fox. To uncover Kronii's little lie like that... Never underestimate the "one girl circus".
Well, I guess there's sparkling water that does come in a can. Of note is the "Liquid Death" brand which intentionally looks like a beer can, but is just water because it's funny. Also wow Kronii's voice is way higher pitched in Japanese than in English
Polka does the most cheerful and adorable bullying, hahaha. Her way of saying "wadder!" was surprisingly natural too, that caught me off guard Booze definitely does help when you're speaking a new/unfamiliar language too, yep
Canned water and bagged milk. Canada is truly the land of wondrous liquid storage devices. Granted, canned water would be more environmentally responsible if actually recycled than plastic in any use.
Polka here was genuinely fascinated by Kronii's bare existence LOL They seem to be almost on the same mental wave, the attitude, humor, making more bros noises than actually dialogues =)))))
As a bilingual, that actually absolutely helps when you know enough of a language to communicate but aren't fluent. In fact I once got so drunk I spent a whole night communicating with people who didnt share any language with me. Unfortunately I don't remember the details, being drunk and all.
1:58 Yo is Osekkai using double equals signs?! Now write a "Hello, world!" program In assembly (you can use any instruction set, dunno why people never specify this when asking someone to write something in assembly, assembly isn't a single language)

The night before my English oral exam I was rushing my homework and ended up getting 4 hours of sleep, the next day i could speak fluent English (most of the time i get nervous even though i can manage at least on a conversational level in writing)
“If i dont drink beer i wont be able to speak jp” is oddly relatable. Ive noticed i become significantly better at speaking and comprehending spanish when i drink. My best guess is that we lose some sort of subconscious mental barrier when we drink. I guess the immense confidence boost also helps lmao

@@Archangel591 Yeah, the katakanization of english words does more actual harm than good for any japanese person seriously trying to learn english.
Reminds me of that time Polka tried Duolingo and came across "mask" and "musk" and didn't hear any difference.
0:57 I love how you made her hit the bottle on her head, that was really funny
I wonder if she actually hit her head with it since you can see her head slightly shake in sync with the sounds lmao.
in my mind she's actually hitting her head with the bottle, that's why her eyes are closing lol
bonking herself with a half full water bottle is absolutely something Polka would do, so
It's polka, she probably hit her head for real
@@Lunk42 It's probably she hit it with her hands in front of the mic so it blocks her eyes from the camera abit. But in the ideal reality, yes.

A blue-haired alcoholic, at that. I'd imagine she got a big sense of deja-vu during this moment, lol.
wait a minute, if that is true then Miko should definitely drink more beer
The world could not handle drunk Miko
Aki or maybe Lamy would be more plausible but Drunk Elite will cause a mass casualties especially to 35Ps.
I see what you did there.😏
OI
What if she has been already drinking and what we’ve witnessed is the result of that
"You won't make that sound if you drink water; uuuuuuuuuuugh"

0:36 That's some delicious water you got there, Kronii.
I think this is the most Japanese I've ever heard Kronii speak aside from that one clip with her talking to Polka and Subaru.
