I learned to lift my knee up first bevor i rotate my hips and kick. my trainer said it's better because you will have a 90° kick and avoid slipping on the thigh.
Kicks to body yeah, lowkick no. Cause the way is longer first up then down. But its ok. There more than ohne way to low kick
