I was playing the bass to this (we used to do a Thin Lizzy medley) in my band about 45yrs ago. I still play the bass to this and am highly delighted to find out that it was/and is pretty much identical to this. Love Thin Lizzy! The shame is, I think their recordings are a bit on the thin side (absolutely no pun intended) and just wish that they were around to record themselves on today’s equipment as they’d sound even more awesome. I find this with a lot of yesteryear’s bands in comparison to some of today’s dynamics sound reproductions. Anyway, the medley we used to play was; Emerald, Jailbreak (the big E), Dancing in the Moonlight, Johnny, and The Boys are Back in Town… what else 👍
Great, what an awesome medley! Have you listened to the 'Live & Dangerous' album recently? That sounds pretty fat to me, recording wise. I know what you mean about some of those old mixes.
Phil Lynott was the reason I picked up the bass in the first place, I feel that he was a one of a kind musician and I’m glad your doing another Thin Lizzy lesson. It’s hard to find any kind of tablature or notations from Thin Lizzy which makes it difficult to practice their songs. Thank you for taking the time to put this lesson together.
Ah magic, love Philos bass lines. A truly inspiring Bass Player. Been fortunate to have played some of his iconic P Basses. This is a brilliant tutorial and I look forward to studying it in more detail. Cheers. Niall
This is one of the first riffs I ever tried to play, -- long ago, before I even had a bass of my own,,, It's about time I learned this song. Thank You. Also: I've been obsessed with Prakash John's bassline for the Intro to Sweet Jane from the live album Rock n Roll Animal... So beautifully melodic!
“The Rocker” was another great song that has a great beat, the entire Live and Dangerous album was wall to wall great songs. Rosalie was another song that really liked but can’t find any lessons or tabs for, I’m sure there’s a version for Bob Seger but the Thin Lizzy version was better. Even Lemmy and Motörhead covered it, so you know the song rocked.

Great that you are so influenced by Phil Lynott, he was such a great player.
With respect the best lesson on TH-cam. 🤘
@@carlosdeno thanks very much!
Love your lessons Greg, and that you post PDF's in both notation and tab .
Cheers Tim. I really enjoy creating those transcriptions. Good to keep the brain ticking over 😀

Thank you for playing in standard tuning.
No worries!
great breakdown Greg! Love to see some Phil Lynott love
Cheers. More Lynott coming in the near future!
I love the variety of your lessons Greg. One thing I’ve learnt over the years is that to improve you need to listen to every genre of music.
Very true! That's what I set out to do when I first started playing bass and it's served me well!
Cool Greg!
Cheers Rog

Thought you’d like this one. It’s reminded me that I must make a lesson on ‘Still In Love With You’.

Great suggestions there Jason.
Great lesson Greg, i love Thin Lizzy. Do you use Rotosounds Flats?
Glad you liked the lesson. Yes, I've got Rotosound Monel Flats on that bass.
@@GregsBassShedI was curious about that, too.👍 I thought maybe they’re TIJF , but the punch and decay is different.
