Sailing SV Hiraeth - Just the beginning

Here's some footage of the first few months of us owning sailing yacht "Hiraeth".
The 1987, Wauquiez Centurion 42, hull #30. We purchased her from Almere in the Netherlands in January 2020 and were planning to take her to Poole in the UK to get some work done, before setting off to Scotland and Norway for the summer.
With the Covid-19 outbreak, and everywhere starting to lockdown. our plans quickly changed, and so we made a dash for it to Lowestoft on the east coast of England.
We'd only sailed the boat 3 times (motoring through canals, doesn't really count) and were a little nervous about sailing across the north sea in what was still (well..... technically) winter.

It's fantastic to see some of the realities of life on board, which must've been a right pain in the backside for you guys, but still, I'd say that once you got out onto the open sea the frustrations quickly melted away. The phrase 'it's not all plain sailing' was never more apt...

Lovely boat; why did you call her Hiraeth? As in the Welsh word for home? There’s a mountain (hill) near where I live called Hiraethog.

Glad you like our boat too, We have Welsh family too and know it doesn't translate directly into English, but our understanding of the meaning is...
A deep sense of longing, a yearning for that which has past, a sense of homesickness tinged with grief or sorrow over the lost or departed.
A longing to be where your spirit lives
A sense of homesickness, a deep longing to return to your ancestral home or yearning to be where your spirit belongs.
This seemed quite fitting for what we're seeking on our sailing journeys.
