Amanitore looks really nice to get along with. Every time I get to play as Trajan's Rome in True Earth Location, I always had that urge to come to Nubia's aid every time Dido's Carthage wages war on her.
Poundmaker is giving me bad vibes on every playthrough. Never trusted him.
Catherine De Medici and Cleopatra always act like my scheming sisters every time I play as Robert the Bruce of Scotland.
...and speaking of Robert the Bruce, kind of tragic that he is always bound to go to war with sweet Queen Victoria, and it's only because the British Isles are just not big enough for the two of them.
Pachacuti and Shaka are swell dudes. They usually keep to themselves, though I always get into diplomatic disputes with them every time I fire a rocket into space.
Always keep an eye on Canada. Laurier is a slippery operator.
Seondeok is pretty cool, and we get along well, what with all the campuses and research buildings we have between us. Nerds look out for each other.
I would say watch out for Genghis Khan, but Qin Shih Huang Ti can be a lot more trouble than the Mongolian can ever be.
Peter, Harald, and Frederick... the Holy Trinity of the North. Probably the best group of guys to hang around in the long run. You learn a lot from these gentlemen, whether as friends or enemies.
Jadwiga, my fair King, may Poland bloom as wide and prosperous as your birthing hips.

As a Polish I feel so annoyed by Jadwiga's quotes. The grammar is... strange. Her accent... Sentence accent is made so annoying and wrong (maybe polish American speaks that's way, I dunno). They put also so many archaisms like... forced and in wrongly ways?

Her first sentence: ''Spotkanie przez Boga błogosławione, pewnam tego. Jam Jadwiga, Król Polski'' - no archaisms, yet it feels wrong, no one even back then would say sth like this. I'm pretty sure they went with a direct English translation. They should have went with ''Niech Bóg błogosławi naszemu spotkaniu! Jam jest Jadwiga, z bożej łaski Król Polski'' (May God bless our meeting! I am Jadwiga by the grace of God King of Poland) as it sounds way more natural and authentic. She would also introduce herself by the very title of Polish kings, which she used. I also added /jest/ as it sounds more official. It would have been 1000 times better than what we have.
I feel like I have an obligation to help Poland whenever they appear in my games... She may never conquer my empire but she can definitely conquer my heart ♥️

I like how Moctezuma's VA is a professional voice actor in Mexico, he used to dub Anakin in the Star Wars films and series. His nahuatl pronunciation is pretty good, ngl.

reach an agreement with polish noble family(szlachta), that's polish noble don't have to pay taxes, but only they have pay 2 grosz per łan( old polish name for unit system of measure of land). This edict called Przywilej Koszycki(Privilege of Koszyce) and was written in 1374. That's why polish noble accepts one of his daughter as next in line of Polish trone, not as wife of king, but as king- the true ruler of country. Bacause of that's we in Poland called Jadwiga King instead of queen. ^^

As a Pole I must say that Jadwigas voice is really (I mean REALLY) weird. It sounds like their hired some American of Polish origin, who knows polish only very vague from grandparents, to read the text. The accent is wrong and pronunciation of some words is also not good. Don't get me wrong - I understand what she is saying, but I know there were not native speaker behind the mic ;)

All I can say is that as a German I think they did a good job on barbarossa
as a pole living in the us, I don’t think that’s an American accent- Casimir from civ 5 had one. This just sounds like she was reading the words for the first time but not really trying to act, she does an ok job on the agenda voiceovers. I guess whoever was recording her didn’t really feel like they needed another take.
Fun fact: she doesn’t actually say “yes, a king.”
Apparently, according to iMDB, Jadwiga was voiced by a Polish actress Julia Jakubowska, who speaks Polish as her first language. I think her pronounciacion is on point, but the flow of what she is saying is awkward, she makes some unusual pauses or changes the pace of speaking abruptly and in effect sounds very strange. Perhaps the actress struggled to fit her lines into the timespan of the animation, or maybe got influenced by the cartoony look of the charatcer and purposely tried to make her sound not-so-serious. Anyway it really isn't THAT bad, just a little bit off.

I see folk discussing Jadwiga's lines. Yea, the archaisms are there, I would even say a lot of them compared to how few lines she has in total. It's not only being old, but also the language is rather pompous.
I know and understand them all, that's not a problem. But the way she puts accents, makes pauses and uses rising and lowering tone is just weird and off. It feels as if they didn't have enough time to try those lines to make them really good. As if she had only 3 attempts and that's it. There is also this thing which sounds as if she was reading a sentence, then finished it, then spotted that it's not the end of the sentence but the remainder was in a next line so she just threw that in, it makes some parts sound really orphaned.
There are also some inconsistencies in the forms used. On one hand she has a really old form in one scene, while in another she uses modern language. Like on one had she uses stuff like "Jam", "pewnam", "radam" yet in the agenda line she uses "twoją" instead of for example "twą". And twą is actually a very popular archaism (oh, paradox) due to the fact that it's used in every religious text, prayer or gospel.
To give some context to non-Polish folk: It's like using english "maketh" or "giveth" in one place, but then "you" instead of "thou" in another :D Yea, it's not wrong but yet breaks the immersion.
If you add the fact that the loading screen narrator reads her as Jadwiga (with english J, like in John instead of Y like in Yeti) could indicate that indeed they didn't pay that much attention when it comes to her.
One one hand it triggers me every time I hear it, on the other it adds her some "cute" charm, as if she was a teenager giving a public performance with the lines being rather far from her daily language and the stress made her botch some minor stuff a couple of times.
