      Those phrases are not supposed to be translations though. They're simply a couple of words to decribe that you are now at war. They were like that in civ V as well.

      Max Mustermann On a serious note though, it's incredible how time-efficient Latin is, compared with English for example. I've seen cases where direct translations from Latin to English take paragraphs, but the Latin itself is only a line or two. Not saying that this is the case in the cutscenes, that's not a translation at all.

      What i hated about civ 4 is how Forests are good while jungle is utter crap. If you have jungle surrounding you, you'd have a lot harder time.

      All the ones i can understand had some flaws except english...but the degree varies, like the chinese one is rlly rlly not the same at all, while french and japanese are somewhat ok.

      @[The Red Studios] Even if Finland isn’t the strongest rival of Russia, they were still very clever with how they went about fighting seeing is how they had so little to use to their defense. They almost completely captured Moscow with Germany’s help. The funniest thing was that the U.S.S.R knew an invasion from Germany was gonna happen, yet they did nothing up until the very last minute. Finland wasn’t that strong military-wise, but they were much smarter than the Soviets with how they went about defense.

    I'm Greek and I can say that Gorgo's (the female greek leader) subtitles are wrong. She is saying a known Thucydides' quote: "The strong nations are doing whatever they want and the weak nations forgive them"

      It's the same in Civ 5. The 'subtitles' aren't meant to necessarily reflect what is being said in the leader scene.

      I was about to comment that. I'm brazilian-spanish. Emperor Pedro's subtitles also have issues, but it is one of the most accurate ones in the game.

    Portuguese translation is wrong. Pedro ll's second line translates to "You will see how this will be fruitless to you, no?", which is kind of funny. It's like he's asking your opinion on it, instead of being intimidating. To match the subtitle, his line would have to be: "Você pode ver como isso será infrutífero, não?", as opposed to "Você verá como isso lhe será infrutífero, não é?", which is what he said.

    Did you notice that some leaders have bilingual speeches? Caterina de medici speaks italian (with a strong Florence accent) while declaring war, while she speaks French when the player declares war against her. The same happens with Ghandi. I really love this feature

    3:17 Saladin's first cutscene subtitles are a translation of his 2nd cutscene speech. whilst the translation of his first speech is "I promise you that non of us will taste peace .. until you surrender!"

    I like the fact that Catherine subtitles when she declares war are not what she says. In fact she says "Don't be surprised. If you didn't notice what was going to happen, you're a real fool."
