I think the character we play as is a polylingual genius.Because every damn leader seems to greet us with their own language, and assume that our player gets it.Since we can play as any leader in the game, and every leader greets us with his or her own language,it means that either there is a translator or every leader in this game knows at least 48 languages.
One thing is a lot of these civilisations formed hundreds if not thousand years apart, meaning that player can understand languages which can be considered as dead like sumerian, phoenician, coptic, ancient chinese and more. So his polylingualism is next level or he hires anthtropologists and archeologists as translators 😁
That is how diplomacy with people whose culture you only just met tends to work. Rulers tended to have translators specifically for that reason. IIRC the first Englishman to come to Japan had to get his words translated into Portuguese by a translator, which would then be translated to Japanese by the shogun's translator. Because Japan had very little contact with the English, their Europeans of choice to do business with were the Portuguese. Which is also why in modern Japanese thanks is arigato, it's a loanword from Portuguese.
Fun Fact: The actor that voices Montezuma I is the same one that voices Anakin Skywalker in the Mexican dub of all of the Star Wars movies, plus the animated shows and videogames. Greetings from Malaysia. Actually, he speaks Middle Persian, although it's very poorly presented because of bad pronunciation and grammar so broken that exact translation is not possible. Middle Persian being used is not historically accurate for Cyrus, since it came into being about 500 years after his reign; he should have spoken Old Persian instead 😁
@@ikigaofficial yes you're correct! Why I didn't got it at first🤦🏻♀️I understood what he was saying without the need to see the subtitles, but I wrote old persian because in that time period they spoke old persian, old persian is drastically different to modern persian & it's not understandable for us, so i guess they made it easy for themselves, but honestly it's ok! I think the character we play as is a polylingual genius.Because every damn leader seems to greet us with their own language, and assume that our player gets it.Since we can play as any leader in the game, and every leader greets us with his or her own language,it means that either there is a translator or every leader in this game knows at least 48 languages.
Also its good to let the player know that the fact the world is huge and english isn't the sole and only language but many more 😁
One thing is a lot of these civilisations formed hundreds if not thousand years apart, meaning that player can understand languages which can be considered as dead like sumerian, phoenician, coptic, ancient chinese and more.
