Max is a ruthless competitor like Senna, Schumacher and Alonso in their day. Good for him! BTW, the popularity and success of F1 depends on hard racing and fierce rivalries.
True, but Eddie literally also said that Max had right away and that should’ve been respected, so which is it? They are racing, or the guy in front has right of way, meaning, not much racing. Can’t be both.
The idea that Max is a track bully and overtly aggressive is just plain stupid. You can't name a single F1 champion that hasn't done those exact same defensive moves. Lewis, Senna, Lauda, Prost, Schumacher, Vettel, Alonso, Rosberg, Fangio, Brabham. All of them race just as hard as Max. But the moment Max does it it's evil?
Senna's quote was literally used by Hamilton after crashing iirc... When Senna used it to justify purposefully crashing into Prost to win. Drivers like Shumacher were also dirty like Senna. Hell, fighting elbows out is generally what everyone worships and goes "waah cars too wide, they can't fight like this anymore" - but the second anyone does it, the crying and penalties begin. Y'know how commentary calls DR "the last of the late brakers" and shows clips of him dive bombing in highlights while showing corners? Highlights of the guy locking his tyres while screaming up the inside, forcing BOTH CARS off the track, sometimes with contact, and then taking the lead? Wild to me. Imagine if Max, Piastri, George, etc. pulled that bs? It would be calamity.
I totally get sky sports being biased towards English drivers. But F1TV really needs to expand their talent pool. They have DC and that one Canadian Indycar driver. Literally everyone else is English.
I am from Holland and F1TV is available here but not in the UK. When I called to F1 to complain about the all English crew the first said that they have a lot of fans in the UK. When Instated that F1Pro is not available in the UK on the internet she agreed and would pass the message. So far not much changed. The English journalist think that they play the best football and that Formula 1 is English. Chauvinism is the word here. It’s a pity.
@@Redlingstein I held Palmer pretty high before. But that day he showed his true colour. No Brit can be that good. They simply look for all excuses. Despite it being dominated with British drivers there are plenty of other drivers that win. His attack on Max was just the biggest BS i have ever seen and imo he should not be on TV. The sport is for the world, not only for the UK! The way most of the English media reacts is just unheard of. Like that sad Damon Hill. Back in the days when Schumacher did that thing and won the WC is was gutted for him. Now i say karma! He is nothing then a soar loser!
Are you so cognitively stunted that you are unable to filter-out any supposed 'bias' of a presenter & just watch & enjoy the sport for what it is...? Raymond Baxter was biased, Murray Walker was biased, Jackie Stewart in his commentary days was biased (he disliked Senna & rightly spoke out about him...) most definitely James Hunt was biased...it didn't detract frim the sport whatsoever. This crybaby nonsense for wanting seemingly unbiased presenters is so ridiculous...
The British writers and commentators are making WAY too big a deal of an incident that would be barely even remembered in a typical Indycar race, much less the subject of 100+ hours of discussion and countless articles and videos. Get a grip Brits! 🇺🇸
Lando during the FIA Press Conference: Max has nothing to apologise for, I made statements right after the race and in the week I actually don't believe in, we talked, we are ready to race against each other again"
100% and it's driven in part by the headline commentators being British. I would pay anything to watch another stream in OZ if available without the British bias, but no cigar
I wish Eddiie would just tell Martin Brundle to shut up!!! McLaren were blaming Max when Lando dive bombed him twice during the race, this is how ridiculous & toxic F1 has become. Do they really think the driver behind controls the racing line?? Martin Brundle is acting like he's Lando's PR guy not sky commentator, perhaps too much travel & age has got to him. Ted Kravitz is an Ass!! And Will Buxton, "Lewis is a clean racer". Three people none with a single F1 race win is now trying to teach Max how to race!!!
I expected nothing else from those three. When Max or Fernando defend, they are dangerous, cunning, aggressive, bullies, etc. When it's Lewis, Lando or George, it's hard but fair, daring, brilliant or bold. The bias is extreme with those guys and they use the fact that they are native speakers of English to also bias the narrative of other channels. Palmer is usually more reasonable, but he also used quite a biased rhetoric in his analyses of the incidents. I was dissappointed by that. Good to hear that DC, EJ and Peter Windsor are more reasonable.
Look what Max did to Sainz 2023 when Sainz went wide same turn last year! Max went wide off track to not make contact and then undercut Sainz and made the pass and did not cry about what Sainz did BUT all these rules and crying is getting annoying! 1000% from Eddie... there was no penalty from Max, it was 100% a racing incident of two leaders fighting for a GP! Max is a driver of a different cloth, cut from the same as Lewis and Alonso.. Like Michael, Senna, Mansell.. These guys will run you ragged... When Max won his first WDC, he had to fight one of the juggernauts of the sport to the final breath for it, Lando got a small taste of it Sunday...
You have 81 starts in iracing sports cars and a single win, 26 top 5s. Please continue to tell us how much you know about racing. You've never even raced a formula car in the sim.
100% agree with you Eddie! I was on my own defending true racing. Max might have had elbows out but he was first into the corner. Left room on the outside and Lando had the chance to ease off. Honestly, if the stewards were quicker with the lando peno, it could have been avoided. Shumi, Hamilton, Prost, Senna- no way would that have conceded that corner. Lando is too nice. He needs to develop sharp elbows. HOWEVER both drivers were so diplomatic and spoke brilliantly directly after and Lando genuinely seems like a lovely lad. He just needs to take a leaf from max and develop a mean streak.
Lando was full of hate in the interview after the race in Austria! He was making a big deal of it. And Andrea Stella did some on top…. Lando was not calm or diplomatic. Max WAS.
I agree with EJ, that move by Max slightly to the left hand side is a normal move when you’re approaching the corner to keep your carstable and you’re leading the race you have every right to take the racing lane. No penalty should be given to anyone it’s a pure racing incident.
@@taykitrleevitt4314 It doesn't take talent to crash out another driver. @@Time4utube People only focus on that one incident at Suzuka when Prost turned in on Senna to denigrate Prost, but watch that entire season and Prost had to take avoiding action multiple times to avoid an accident with Senna that season.
Making contact in open wheel racing isn't "racing". Of course Max isn't dumb enough to try something as moronic as "drive Lando into the pitwall". He knows how to play the stewards and bend the rules not outright violate them like a clown.
There's a difference between fair and unfair racing though. There's no talent in moving your infront of your competitors to stop passes every which way.

@@reddwarf666 The one unfortunate part about AD was that it involved safety procedures, and F1 should rightfully be very careful with those. But indeed, the spirit of racing is very important, and I really wonder what kind of racing we'll see in 2026 if we combine no DRS and anti-battle stewardship
I thought Lando’s dive on lap 63 was a legit overtake, kept it within track limits and ahead at the apex, and Max took to the run off and kept the position. That was worth a time penalty. The incident itself that resulted in the punctures was just hard racing
I love you guys, F1 Liberty Media should pay you lots of dough, you are the best knowledgeable promoter of F One, Full stop and congrats! PS: Mr. Newey, I am a sailor like you and >r. Jordan: discover and enjoy but be always careful.
Some people still feel robbed because Max in Abu Dhabi 2021 got very lucky when Latiffi in a Williams crashed and caused a safety car. Yes Hamilton was almost half a minute in front of Max but also because they didn't pit. Thus Max got behind him on fresher tires. Normally you let all the lapped cars unlap themselves but that would cause an safety car finish. Let me remind people that earlier that year in Belgium due to heavy rain the race was finished after the safety car where Max got half points. In the following drivers meeting all teams and that includes Mercedes asked Masi to do whatever possible to not have races finish, while there was a safety car present. You can think what you want what Masi decided (only to unlap cars between Lewis and Max and have the safety car immidiatly go away. But to blame/dislike Max for that is just unfair.
Max will forever be blamed for this as if he was the president of the FIA in 2021... If people want to see unfair driving they need to watch the 2016 Abu Dhabi race...
Verstappen is just way better than anyone else on the grid, Lando is very quick, but he is lacking experience and racecraft, still too much a kid inside to control the emotions. He will definitely improve throughout this year and next year there will definitely be a close battle.
I love the common sense here. It is racing. Max by the way getting more support by the day. Drivers speak out etc. Only Damon Hell wants Max get more penalties hahaha
Interestingly enough Lando said that he reacted very emotionally and said things he should not have said. He aslo said it was a very very minor incident and very unfortunately. Of cours ethe Brits blew it all out of proportion as did Andrea Stella. We all remember waht Hammy did to Max in Silverstone in 2021 where he almost killed Max ( he would have been dead if no Halo) and he won and was loudly celebrating while Max was in the hospital. In that case 10 seconds was grossly unfair, he should have been disqualified
Fanboy ... Hamilton was on the inside and had the corner, Vercrappen does what he always does, if I can't win I will take out the competition ... Monza when he drove on top of Hamilton? How you forget all the BS drama Vercrappen has created ... a truly talented driver wouldn't be generating this kinda of drama. Max turned into Lando, not once, but twice ... it was I'm going to take you out rather than lose ... in the end Vercrappen lost.

Doesn't really matter Vercrappen got a penalty albeit a meaningless penalty. This has nothing to do with British drivers, I'm a US citizen. Vercrappen is a boy in a sandbox that want's it all to himself because he thinks he's the best. When it turns out he's not the best, he has hissy fit and goes on a crash rampage ... that's a talents turd.
It is clear that the commentators and analysts of SKY SPORTS, together with Andrea Stella and Zack Brown, are responsible for this, then I also think that something is happening to Max Verstappen because of you British people, then YOU WANT THERE!!! Also the responsibility for Damon Hill, David Croft and Ted Kravitz, keep going, but not too far because there is a limit and that is the limit point of no return and you are pretty close to that
Anyone who didn't see it coming understands nothing about racing and about max. Taking the hypocritical english side on this one is just being ignorant. In the end both were equally at fault. And to be honest #LandoNorris showed his inexperience as he could have kept pressuring #MaxVerstappen into a mistake instead of being all banzai, since being all banzai on max gets you what lando got. Now max extended his lead further by 12 points to 81 points over lando, meaning that lando lost and max won. In hindsight, the dotardic stewards should have timely informed the teams that Lando had a 5 second penalty. That would have made both @LandoNorris and @MaxVerstappen relax a bit since Lando would've known that 1st place was out of reach and max would've known that 1st place was his. Thus, no unnecessary clashes.
If you watch from both on board cameras, Max's tire gets puncture first by Lando making contact with him. Then I honestly think Max loses the car because his left rear was non-existent.
I don't think this was a rim problem. In both cases, the carcas of the tyre actually stayed on the rim, unlike in many other incidents we have seen recently.
I believe Raikonen had the fairest racing almost all the time, even when fighting for the championship. Drivers echo this opinion throughout the paddock.

The races Max has been involved in where there was a fierce battle all had a 10 as far as entertainment value. I think it is exactly what the sport needs. He will drive at the Max every lap in every single race he is part of. That is what sets him apart from probably anyone on the grid at the moment. There is a reason why we regard Senna, Schumacher as legends.. They gave everything they had every single race, every single minute they were driving. I think Max is the same... If you want to pass max on track better make sure you have at least some room left or buffer because he will defend his position. As he should. I am so disguisted by most of the commentators and a lot of the english press after last weeks race dragging max' legacy through the mud as if he is the worst things that ever happened to the sport. The rules on moving under braking aren't clear at all. You can't move "erratically". So it's again at the discretion of the stewards. One will rule different than another.
We've had remarkably few 'Pirelli Punctures' this year due to racing incidents, for which I'm grateful. A few years ago there were several during each race it seemed. Maybe the sidewalls got beefed up along the way, but carbon fiber cuts like a knife and that hasn't changed.

It makes for super boring racing when the driver in front is just allowed to weave all over the track to defend making it literally impossible to pass.
Perhaps they should fit railway tracks to the circuits and have the stewards move the points to allow overtaking? This would stop all the trouble with these unruly racing drivers.
Weaving around blocking was banned a long long long time ago from just about all racing, not just F1. Vercrappen doesn't seem to understand that rather basic rule and instead of using talent to win, he resorts to crashing. Vercrappen should be banned ... his 10 second penalty was meaningless.
Ah. A refreshing new channel. Looking forward to the future of F1 with you guys. We can now hopefully go racing and stop all the hype and negativity. Right or wrong as Masi said” It’s called racing This Max is a giant and David ( Norris)is after him. This is racing.
The only problem I have with everyone jumping on max is that yeah by the letter of the law he moved twice and should be penalized, fair enough. However I see all the drivers doing that exact same thing. Defending and then widening the corner almost like a dance with the driver on the outside. Look at silverstone 21 before the contact. Lewis goes to the inside and then what? Both simultaneously open the corner back up together. I could give other examples of other drivers as well so I just don’t see how what he did was different other than lando didn’t dance with him.
You had to go back 3 years to find an example to compare to max. There’s your problem. And Lewis got a penalty for silverstone so that example doesn’t even make sense 😂
Blocking was banned from racing decades ago, this isn't "new" ... and Vercrappen moved into and caused a collision hence the penalty. A driver with real talent and not the "Best car" wouldn't have resorted to such immature driving.
I said that was merely one example and Hamilton got a penalty for pushing max wide at the apex not moving to widen the corner. Also who exactly drove into who? Landos front wheel hit maxs rear. Go watch the drivers press conference today and see how many of them said yeah that wasn’t bad at all compared to others I’ve seen that go unpunished but sure go on
Max slightly squeezed Lando but left a generous cars width. Lando then proceeded to turn into Max not once but twice. I don't understand how this isn't completely obvious. This was after two prior dive bombs.
I liked the comment of Peter Windsor ..... he looked at all the details and from his ( and mine ! ) Norris needs to say sorry of his poor and uncontrolled driving
Peter was spot on. Max is the definition of greatness. He is superb, a king, a Sungod. Flawless in all his moves with perfect positioning. Gentle for his tires but ruthless for the competition. No one can touch him. All should bow deep for his excellence. 😗
Thank god your not in charge of the stewards. Not moving under breaking and not crashing into other cars is a good thing. If you were in charge there would be no overtaking and just people in front taking the car behind out or forcing them off track.
Love both of your takes on the "incident." Respect to Lando. Neither he nor Max has much experience racing for the lead in equal machinery. They both need to learn the right risk-reward balance and they will.
Track limits are a necessity because the older track designs (kerbs) to keep drivers within the track were in all there forms, patently dangerous. A concrete barrier used to give drivers no ideas of doing these things. Even for the fans with cars and tires flying through the air. A necessity, along with some rules that dampen the racing.
Senna, Schumacher, Prost. This has been what happens on the pointy end for decades. Welcome to the front row Lando who is the 2nd best driver at McLaren. Watch his eyes and body language, he knows he is. Lewis has been done since Mercedes had to stop outspending the field, exposing his averageness, which is still good for 3 championships. Another great show boys!
Fun fact: I went to High School with Kings of Leon for one year in the late 90s. They moved to my city for one year before moving again. They were just normal kids then.
Britt’s make up the vast majority of the F1 employees and track stewards. The bias is embarrassing for the sport. Glad to hear these two Britt’s can be objective. Love the Britt’s but the F1 media has vilified Max unnecessarily because he’s dominating the British sport. It’s not a British sport any longer it’s a global sport with a global audience. It’s not golf! It’s open wheel racing. Every driver defends aggressively. Every driver will shoot a gap if give. The fact that a track steward is is British and a GP driver leveled the penalty smacks of bias.
Max had to limp back with 3 wheels for half a lap,10 seconds penalty and pit for new tyres and still beats checo by 10 seconds 😂 but its the car apparently 😅
Lando could have avoided colliding with Max’s car by leaving the track, exactly the same as Max did the previous lap. But Lando had the track limits penalty influencing his car placement and chose to make contact with Max. Unfortunate.

A football referee can kill a game by strictly whistle by the rules instead in the spirit of the game!
Stewards can do the same with a F1 race!

Funny part, that incident was much more severe. However it was much less debate from the pundits
This is absolute lies, I remembered vividly how the incident was overblown and everybody calling Lewiz murderer even though it was obvious. The nonsense talk of 50G, what a joke.

@@exeuropean Lando back pedaled from his first comments about the incident which were accurate ...why do you think that is ... nothing changed.
What a episode. Love all this talk from legends like you, who can dive into the current theme and take it apart in detail.
The other drivers, Lando included, need to just start moving under breaking considering the precedent that its no longer against the rules.
It is not literally in the rules any more since 2017, also because it it too ambiguous. Many drivers change direction somewhat during braking.
Because Max ran into Lando!
The stupid thing is a light touch of these horrible carbon fibre wheel centres causes them to shatter which is what happened here (Verstappen/Norris).
I was totally shocked to see 2 punctures out of that incidental contact.
I don't think this was a rim problem. In both cases, the carcas of the tyre actually stayed on the rim, unlike in many other incidents we have seen recently.

CS as a reserved driver was my first option when LH announced his move to the Scuderia. Why not?
Love both of your takes on the "incident." Respect to Lando. Neither he nor Max has much experience racing for the lead in equal machinery. They both need to learn the right risk-reward balance and they will.
This is a very wise statement
This is just bloody nonsense!
🤔
Max had at least a entire season racing in equal potential machinerie.. are you ok?
Hear hear
Max had to limp back with 3 wheels for half a lap,10 seconds penalty and pit for new tyres and still beats checo by 10 seconds 😂 but its the car apparently 😅
Poor little Norris 😢
He will never be Champion. Not man enough.
Lando could have avoided colliding with Max’s car by leaving the track, exactly the same as Max did the previous lap. But Lando had the track limits penalty influencing his car placement and chose to make contact with Max. Unfortunate.
