Genuinely think mark Webber and David Coulthard make for a fantastic combo. Mark isn’t backwards in coming forward and calls it as is with proper excitement . DC brings the calm yet somewhat lightly jovial comment and it just blends so well.
I miss the DC/Jake/Eddie days. I’d go to extreme lengths to download the shows (since I’m in the US now), but Jake’s enthusiasm and the experience of EJ & DC were a great combo.
i remember murray freaking out " john watson has overtaken a second car on this lap... a big R in the corner of the screen... james just says in his best teenager attitude " no Murray ,... thats a REPLAY!!!!🤪🤣
I think Jack Doohan is amazing on the microphone. Full of knowledge at such a young age. Obviously another reason why they chose him for next year. Always enjoy his commentary
Murray Walker and James Hunt. Birdsong of the highest order and impossible to match. It was Marc Priestley and the Test Team who DC bailed out of the minivan incident in Spain 2000. Cost you £20k DC!
Sticking with the topic, Marc Priestley has moved over to BBC 5 Live commentary and does quite a good job in my opinion. Would be good to have him on here, I think some great stories could be told.
I just want to say thank you to DC. I grew up as a fan, there is a picture of me when I was 6 or 7 next to his McLaren in 2000, 2001 maybe. I Went to Melbourne in 2015 and happened to be against the perspex on the pit straight when we spotted him talking to Suzi Perry, he gave us a little wave and I'll never forget it. You're a legend DC! Wishing everyone well. ❤
I'm a big jean alesi fan, so was never interested in what David was doing as a driver. But over the years as a TV pundit, thank you DC, I'm a big fan of your work. To me you are mr formula one and it would not be the same without you. Down to earth, tells it how it is, and very much enjoy your input and knowledge. Also leigh mckenzie is amazing and don't forget Billy monger who both does a fanstic job as well.
Murray Walker and James Hunt. As EJ said they were very different personalities. Murray was excitable and James provided a grounded analysis and said it as it was. I presume media training wasn’t to the level it was back then so the duo could say what they wanted but with common sense and human decency keeping them in check. As modern pundits turn to commentary is there a chance we hear more of the media personalities rather than the individual?
I see that someone has already mentioned that the time constraint was called 'Curfew'. I remember at the British GP at Silverstone in 1994 when we were camped out at Copse Corner we could hear engines bring reved up to the max by the teams mechanics or engineers at one o'clock ion the Saturday morning. I guess the curfew was a good thing to give those guys back some semblance of a normal life.
Hi fella, absolutely loving these podcasts, they are so enjoyable and insightful. It’s great to get the inside track and the driver perspectives. You both have had extraordinary lives and took the chances life has given you. I love the friendship you both have. I will have to go back and listen to the older ones as I’ve only in the last few months found this. I’m a Scot from Fife. Can I share with you a wee bit of trivia about Fife. There is a tiny village there called Killmany and in Killmany there is a statue of Jim Clark there. Apparently Jim Clark was actually born in Killmany and lived there as a lad then moved to the boarder later. I think it well worth a visit and is very interesting. So please come and see it. Thank you and God bless.
David Hobbs on US broadcasts in the 2000s was supreme. Old school sensibilities, no nonsense, let the event sound breathe and of course his mumbles and weird noises. Wish the US broadcast/commentary were available on F1tv replays.

I was not a DC fan until after the Malaysian Grand Prix 2000. Michael Schumacher had claimed the title in the prev round in one of the greatest races of all time. The race is over and DC goes over to Michael and has a private word about some of what was said during the season. Class all the way.
Yes Eddie! Thank you! Never give up! Always believe! With 24 out of a job, in a horrible place mentally and in life. Im 27 now. I part own a company. I will mot have to ever worry about money again. And I am healthy and happy. Never give up. Ever.
