    I totally appreciate your placement of the summary at the front. I was actually surprised to see it as most people like to drag things out. I like lighting reviews though, not boring at all, especially when it comes to full color LEDs.

    Great focused review! Added to my GAS list. How was the fan noise?

    • @curtisjudd
      @curtisjudd  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fan noise is present, but not too bad - consistent and mostly the sound of moving air vs. grinding bearings which is good.

    Great review, as always, Curtis! I recently worked on a project that used one of these with the Projection Attachment and some gobos. It was great! A fantastic tool that was lighter, cooler, and much smaller than a traditional ellipsoidal instrument. That attachment is about half the cost of of the 60c, but a solid investment for adding those finishing touches to a look.

    I would 100% note myself down as a lighting nerd so I'm a little disappointed that this whole video wasn't a deep technical dive into this unit. But I'll get down off my high horse and say thank you for the great video and the wonderful examples and tips included else wise.
    I used one of these 60c units on a short film I was lighting a few weeks back and it was fantastic!

    Great review! Do you know if Aputure or Amaran have a direct competitor with this product. I love this, but need to have all my lights on one app so I use the SIDIS link.

    • @curtisjudd
      @curtisjudd  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, Aputure doesn’t make any 6 LED lights, theirs are either single, dual, or 5 color.

    Great to see you do a Nanlite review! I hope to see more, maybe on the Forza 150, 200, 300 and 300B. Been struggling to find Aputure in South Africa and about to commit to Nanlite instead.

    I recently picked up some Hive lights and the color from these 6-chip systems is really goos, even can get some of that elusive yellow! As well, the small form-factor is really nice, making rigging a breeze. Looks the same here with Nan. How's the Nan App? Your lighting reviews are never boring and you bring the best sound of any lighting video, hands down; it really makes a difference!

    • @curtisjudd
      @curtisjudd  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Jason, yes - yellow! The app is actually surprisingly good. The biggest thing that bugs me about most apps is reconnecting to lights between sessions. But to be fair, I've only tried it with this one light. The real test comes when working with multiple lights.

  • @jacek5384

    Did you manage to record voice with this light? Fan noise from the light is ruining audio, isn't it? Seems thet there is no 100% audio recording.

    • @curtisjudd
      @curtisjudd  ปีที่แล้ว

      I recorded the audio while lighting with this light, yes.

    Kinda expensive, but the colors I'm looking at are pretty high quality vs the ones I used to see from traditional RGB ones. Would I buy it? I doubt it, but maybe if I'm not happy with the current RGB's that I have if they don't create the exact color I'm seeking.

    • @curtisjudd
      @curtisjudd  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally understood. The yellows are one place I notice a big difference.

  • @fidore_PJ
    @fidore_PJ 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is there any cheaper than this one For 60 Watts light?

    • @curtisjudd
      @curtisjudd  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh yes, the Nanlite 60 daylight version is less than $300 if you only need daylight.

  • @ChannelWright

    This light appears to have a strong yellow which is a real plus, as other led panels/spots I’ve tried are really lacking when it comes to that color.

    Had to laugh that your one con came down to the fire effect. I would add that because the emitter is a bit smaller than the other two lights in the Forza 60 line, you can end up with uneven output from the projection mount and the fresnel. And in the really picky department, I would wish for a locking power connector (a threaded barrel would do, similar to a Sennheiser 3.5mm plug). Beyond that, it’s a very handy light in tight situations with a lot of output for the size, and the extra color range and saturation you get from the full spectrum RGBLAC COB makes gels a thing of the past in a lot of situations. I keep two in my kit and will probably add a third at some point, and as long as I baby them a bit (rental businesses will probably want something more sturdy) I expect to get a lot of use out of the 60C. One other note: My first Forza 60 died one winter’s day from the static electricity zap I gave it inadvertently, static picked up just walking around a set. I don’t know if the 60C may be susceptible to this as well, but I will always be extra careful about static around these lights.

      Good points, thanks for sharing.

    • @curtisjudd
      @curtisjudd  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, I stand by that con - that is the least convincing fire effect I've probably ever seen on any light.

    • @waveland
      @waveland 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@curtisjudd I do not doubt it. Much too small an emitter. As an alternative, I did a lighting experiment the other day. Two of the new Aputure MT Pros, lying on their sides, on top of a gold reflector spread on the floor. I didn’t have a chance to properly darken the space, so the effect was a little pale with daylight coming through the windows, but the granularity of the pixels in those tubes seemed to, nevertheless, give a particularly convincing flicker. I have a nighttime narrative shoot soon, where the setup will come in handy. And if you needed to bring more firelight pop into a space, add a few more MTs running at slightly different flicker rates and color temps, and I think you would be hard pressed to know the difference from a real fire.
