@@RobEllisCinematographer Oh yeah man, it was great! And yes it totally shows, the gargantuan difference between the way you make these almost like short films vs someone just delivering the info in a talking head style with some stock footage B-roll is not only obvious, but highly appreciated. Thanks again for all your work, stay awesome!
I would argue that convolutes the point of the explanation. He references daylight 5600K and seems to set a black ambient exposure, so the only light he gets is the light he sets - and therefore has complete balance control over. You can assume his camera white balance is 5600K. Incidentally this is what I prefer to leave my (photo) camera set to at all times, even in changing ambient conditions, because I intend to capture what I see. When I use strobes or lights, I use those to balance, too.
White balans camera settings will be helpful. So we can have an idea what colour temperature are you selecting when you play with the colour temperature of the ambient.
Do u have any guesses about the color temperature in the camera? Cause to me it's really hard to guess it especially that he plays with different kelvins

Hello, your tutorials in lightning are really good! but i think that adding the TEMP and TINT balance used in the camera would be a great insight in how to achieve everything, since we can know the temp of the lights, but not the setting in the camera to capure the colors without compromissing them

Thank you for the detailed setup for recreating midday lighting. It isn't talked about as enough as compared to dusk/dawn or lighting for a night scene. I had a few doubts regarding the implementation of a cooler ambient fill for cooler shadows in midday lighting. You have addressed that expertly in my opinion. Thank you!
For sure, it's can be really tricky to figure out because of that lack of conversation around it! It's always going to depend on the location and how realistic you're recreating the light to that specific place, as sometimes you'll get less or more blue sky through a particular window, etc. Very happy you found the video useful - thank you so much!!

And invariably watch more than once to ensure full understanding. May I ask one question; historically when using the BMPCC series of cameras under such dark conditions what is your typical ISO value? - I read divided opinion on this. I understand the dual ISO and noise floor arguments. But I also recognise that sometimes it could be counter intuitive to choose an ISO give more dynamic range in the shadows. Hands down the best lighting and filming channel on youtube. It shows its not always about the editing its about what you capture in camera. Its interesting about the blue. So happy to hear you're finding my work useful and I appreciate your kind words! Thank you! :) it was around 5600K give or take a little for each scene, a little more toward 4000K in the moonlight shot to make sure I could keep the coolers a little colder!
What temperature to set in camera should we leave it at AWB ? I thought that is a crucial info thanks for taking your time to make a script and visual that made temperature simpler to understand

Bro. It’s been like 2-3 years since iv seen your videos for the first time and youve been the bench mark of where I want to reach as a videographer when it comes to lighting. Unfortunately for me I do social media work and I move lightly so I go to shoots with one large suitcase of equipments which is one godox fill light. I can’t wait to get my own car so I can load it up with all the lights I can to start doing these types of lighting
Too kind, very happy my work has inspired you in some way! One light might feel limiting but you definitely get a lot of practise and knowledge out of limitations - I hope all goes well now and for the future! :)
Very good video, the truth is I don't think it has been explained better, I am becoming more and more clear about the issue of color temperature with respect to lights, I would appreciate it if you would also make a video on how to master the color temperature from the cameras , it would complement this video too much, thank you in advance and greetings from Peru! th-cam.com/play/PL_dDUxn1Y2e1K1fHHR7pnPCN6VRPYGwhe.html - I made a little series a few years ago discussing this aspect! very informative, clear and absolutely interesting!
Thank you so much Michał - happy you enjoyed it!
Cool tutorial. Thanks, Rob.
Glad you enjoyed it - thank you! :)
Man I really love the work that you put out. I feel it really helps extend my knowledge. Unlike a lot of other channels out there you really have a ton of knowledge that can properly be imparted.
I did just have a quick question, for your scenes what color temperatures did you use for the camera?
So happy to hear you're finding my work useful and I appreciate your kind words! Thank you! :) it was around 5600K give or take a little for each scene, a little more toward 4000K in the moonlight shot to make sure I could keep the coolers a little colder!
Thank you so very much. Greetings From Brazil.
Great to hear from you Elias, hope you're doing well and you enjoyed the video! Greetings from the UK!
What temperature to set in camera should we leave it at AWB ? I thought that is a crucial info thanks for taking your time to make a script and visual that made temperature simpler to understand
this was soo good
Thank you so much!! :)
What are the camera / white balance settings?
Bro you’re killing it 🔥🔥
Amazing and informative video ❤ I learn so much with each video you put out
Appreciate it Mark and happy to hear you're getting so much out of my videos - thank you! ❤
9:21 im confused what WB should i set in camera because ther are lots of colour temperatures?
straight up masterclass! thank you so much - appreciate the effort!
Thank you so much Jonas, I massively appreciate it! :)
Thanks for the awesome video, if you could add also the white balance of the camera to the next breakdown I'd really appreciate it! Keep it up!
Thank you so much Peter! th-cam.com/play/PL_dDUxn1Y2e1K1fHHR7pnPCN6VRPYGwhe.html - I made a little series a few years ago looking at this aspect! You can generally guess the white balance roughly once you've practised using it enough!
Your content is great for people who love movies.
Thank you so much for your kind words Manuel! I actually did this a few years ago - th-cam.com/play/PL_dDUxn1Y2e1K1fHHR7pnPCN6VRPYGwhe.html - hopefully that should help! Greetings from the UK! :)
Nice video. Would love to see one just using natural light and one using tungsten lights. Thanks!
They are a bit old now but I have a few videos with these - th-cam.com/video/HxXhSXIyc1I/w-d-xo.html - natural light
th-cam.com/video/RJqgsGDkTl0/w-d-xo.html - cheap tungsten red heads
very easy to understand, and useful, thank you!
Very happy to hear it, I just replied to another comment saying that it's sometimes difficult to tell if I've under or over explained, or made things too complicated when I write the script. So that's great to hear - thank you so much!
Amazing stuff. Thanks for all the effort put into making this, it was a fantastic watch!
Very happy you enjoyed it Eddy - thank you! :)
The boys are back💪🏻🙏🏻❤️
🙌🫡❤️ we pulled a few super late ones for this video haha!
Congratulations on such rich professional content!!! 👋👋🤩
Thanks! Would be great to add to this cool tutorial info about in camera WB settings
th-cam.com/play/PL_dDUxn1Y2e1K1fHHR7pnPCN6VRPYGwhe.html - I made a little series a few years ago discussing this aspect! For this video I was around 5600K for the sunset/sunrise scene and midday scene, give or take a little - except the moonlight scene which was closer to 4000K to keep the cools cooler. Also graded both warms and cools out to push a little more saturation into both!
You def did a thing with this ..this was top tier !!
I appreciate it - thank you so much!!
@@RobEllisCinematographer ..awesome !! Keep the lighting projects and perspective coming.. much appreciated! Short film lighting is small spaces are dope
Wake up guys! The Og dropped a video !!

Thank you Sean!!
Very good video, but how you set up the WB in camera? You should be explaining that too...
