  • Along with our standard RISII rail system we are also excited to bring back the RISII FSP Rail! while many of the steps for the standard installation are the same, there are a few differences with the FSP rail. In this video Joe explains how to easily install the RISII FSP Rail.

    I have a pinned and welded FSP...can the RIS II or RIS III be installed without unpinning the FSP?

    • @bwillems1000
      @bwillems1000 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Most front sight posts aren't welded, though they are pinned. Mine was a pain to unipin and reipin but I got it done. If your muzzle device is pinned and welded this won't work, because you need to be able to fully remove the front sight post.

    First step use the torque wrench incorrectly ✔️

    • @jimknowlton342
      @jimknowlton342 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you aren't approaching maximum rated torque, it doesn't matter unless you absolutely want to only apply a known torque, so no, not used incorrectly.

      Jim Knowlton then why use the torque wrench? like using a ruler with the wrong measurements on it.

      Also there was no seasoning of barrel nut threads, no oil on them or fsb taper pins, and no loctite on handguard screws.

    real question is do I use any type of loctite on the barrel nut itself and do I need to do variable torque like from 30 to 40, before reaching final torque specs of 50?

    • @elusk4545
      @elusk4545 5 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      No, you do not use loctite on the barrel nut. Some kind of grease is generally recommended, though. I tend to use Aeroshell 33ms. As for torquing the barrel nut down, it's generally good practice to just go for the torque spec (in this case, 50 ft/lbs) and back it off two or three times (not using the torque wrench to break it free, as that's bad for your torque wrench). This allows the grease to really get worked into the threads so that you don't experience any kind of seizing etc. Then just tighten the barrel nut to spec and you're good to go.
      Hope this helps.

    Ive had one since August 30 for a Colt OEM 1 build to Block 2 clone and I still haven't installed it. I need a couple more tools ideally but Im not as confident about the install as I should be. Im unsure about removing the fsp and reinstalling it correctly without damaging anything. I'm a novice on my best day. I gotta get it done though.

    I’m curious. What is the point of this setup? Why not install the RISII with a low profile gas block and a DD fixed front sight attached to the rail? Is there a benefit other than personal preference here? It seems like having the ability to move your front sight around would be beneficial.

      It's gonna be pretty shit for civil applications, yes. Heavy, expensive, hard to install and disassemble. But this shit is made with two purpose in mind: Retain PEQ and optic zero, and mount an M203 all day, fire it all night, and not flex around.
      This, is the product of that requirement. If it doesn't suit you (which it probably won't - it's a niche product in the commercial market), don't buy it. Don't use it.

    • @theia1653
      @theia1653 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      No, not practical, unless you are a hardcore enthusiast. It's expensive, more difficult to install and remove, and no one will use all of the rail space. Even for SOPMOD the KAC RAS would be just fine.
