  • Finally! haha. The Toyota Yaris 6Speed Swap first drive video is up. After TRD Cup Round 8 at Willow Springs, we realized 5th gear in our build C50 was just about maxed out on the front straight. So thankfully the timing was perfect, a fellow racer Trevor was looking to but an Limited Slip Differential and I was looking for a C60. At the same time another TRD cup competitor posted a used C60 for sell, so we shipped the C50 to NY and then drove up to LA and purchased the transmission from Nathan, Thanks guys! It was a good amount of work to get this swap done, and Ive created some write-ups and the steps needed so check my blog for that information. I'm also going to post a video showing all of the steps for those preferring the visuals.

    The car feels awesome with the gearing of the C60, I can't wait to go back to the track and see if our times improve. Thanks to all of our friends that have supported and helped us in the efforts to build this car.

    What's done to it? And what do you need to change? And what to make it run and work?

    with all that same mods would the smaller hatchback yaris perform better than that?

    • @ArmstrongRacing
      @ArmstrongRacing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would likely be similar, because the LB and sedan weigh almost the same.

    hey dude great video, i actually found your channel through your website, im looking for some help with my C52. Its an N/A engine, The final drive is way too long, it does 180 in 3rd gear at 8000rpm. What final drive can i put in there to make it a lot more snappier? i wouldnt mind if it only did 200-220 in 5th?
    ive subbed BTW!

      What's up man! Do you have an MR2? what's your cruising RPM on the freeway in 5th?

      @@ArmstrongRacing car isnt driveable ATM, waiting on parts...
      I can get a hold of MR2, but not very common where I live...
      Any other info you need when I take the car out hopefully this weekend?
      I have a 4age box with the 4.3 FD in a turbo car but I want to keep it in that car...
      Any other higher FD available from a factory box ?

      @@ArmstrongRacing hey dude I finally took the car out on the hwy...
      So it's a Toyota starlet with a c52 box. It is sitting on 3250 rpm at 100kmh...
      I rev it to 8000... Does almost 180 in third gear. The remaining two years are almost useless lol
      I Read through your internet blog and it seems like the c60 is the way to go...
      Can you please point me in the right direction to get a good LSD for it?
      Thanks again for your help mate

      Sounds like you have something similar to the 3.7FD, the only way to know for sure is to use a paint pen a mark all of the differential gear teeth through the drain hole.

    I was wondering is the 2zz drop in or you have to fabricate?

    • @ArmstrongRacing
      @ArmstrongRacing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe you need to buy a special engine side mount, but that should be all.

    • @unkwnyaaj4121
      @unkwnyaaj4121 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Direct fit just need a special side mount is what I'm guessing

  • @BLUEVITZrs
    @BLUEVITZrs 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Aren't they nearly perfectly spaced ratios eh. And if you ever find yourself needing to use 6th on track there's a .815 6th you can put in it to close the 5-6 shift gap a bit.
