      Hey man, I am building my 2008 yaris S for back roads also.... I just put 15" Sparco wheels (15lbs each) and Nitto Tires (Neo Gen) Small wheels work really well and the tires are insane grip. BC racing coilovers with cusco underbody and strut bracing as well next week. Upgraded rotors and pads new control arms and bushings all next week. Once the breaking and handling is sorted it's on to power.... I will follow you!

      I agree im thinking to do just the xd fuel injector an if needed the fuel pump too cause i would like just a bit of more happiness, im currently running cold intake,headers, weapon r manifold an open exhaust i still running a muffler open flow it works great no problems

    ASE certified master mechanic also fellow Yaris racer also been racing with the SCCA for 10 ish years now ... Replacing fuel parts like injectors and pumps that's have more flow rate .. WITHOUT PROPER tuning of the ECU is probably doing more harm then good u need a proper Wide band sensor and a tuner to see any or little benefit from this mods I would stick to OEM parts cus it's probably running too rich stock anyways and u might be making it more rich

    • @RassoolRacing
      @RassoolRacing  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the insight. The fuel pump needed replacing either way. With the intake, throttle body, the car was occasionally giving lean condition codes. The ECU tune helped with that, but since the rev limit has also been raised, this pump is more piece of mind than an actual gain.

    The Scion xD's fuel pressure regulator delivers 46psi, while the Yaris gives 44psi. So you've definitely increased your fuel delivery. While you were at it, did you peek if the mid pipe of the Scion xD was intact? it's fits the Yaris, and it's slightly bigger diameter. Also, check if the VVT solenoid has this PN#15330-21020, which was supposedly from the Vitz RS, which also supposedly engages VVT at 2500rpm instead of 4000rpm.

    • @vctrsone
      @vctrsone ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Someone read my post! But it doesnt't engage it at a lower rpm from what we can tell its just allows for faster vvti response.

    • @kimoliburd8829
      @kimoliburd8829 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The VVT solenoid on the ZR engine is different to the NZ engines. I ran the VVT solenoid number in the system and couldn't find anything. I used my car chassis number 2008 Vitz RS and the numbers I got are 15330-21011 and substitute 15330-21010. You can try finding those.

    • @vctrsone
      @vctrsone ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@kimoliburd8829 15330-21020 is the OEM correct unit, the aftermarket ones work but are not the performance variant. I have the RS one in my car, VVTI feels like it comes in stronger. It just allows for higher oil flow, which decreases vvti asctuation time.

    Looks like the spacer you had was for a 1ZZ-FED engine from a ZZW-30. It’s different to the 1ZZ-FE one. The FED has larger valves (1mm) and makes about 12 more bhp. It’s in the Celica and MR-S. I found all this out when I put an FED head on an Elise S2 S (1ZZ 134bhp). This engine is about 127 in a Corolla and a bit more in the Lotus but still less than the Celica/MR (about 140).

    Omg the more I watch this video sigh SPARK PLUS have to be the correct heat range and Iridium as actually has a weaker spark for less power then a cheapo Copper one .. the only thing iridium does is last Much much Longer that's why OEM use them so they don't have to replace them for 100k or so but if u want a cleaner hotter spark a 2 dollar OEM plug would be better ... And make sure it's the correct heat range for the tune

    I always check the gap regardless of whether the plug is pre-gapped or not. Are you able to tune the ECU? It seems at this point, you're better off financially to buy the Xd, swap over engine, harness, ECU. And it would have stock reliability, but more power

    • @RassoolRacing

    I'll have to watch the video for the xD throttle body, but I did similar with the Echo with a 2000-ish Corolla 1ZZ-FE throttle body swap. Our older 1NZ's usually call for making our own sandwich plate and gasket to fill in the gaps from slightly different plumbing, but another thing you should consider is simply boring out the opening on your manifold a little bit.
    The Echo, xA, and xB1 all suffer from having an oddly shaped gasket because of an idle-air passage off to the side. The Yaris is just one bore, which looks like it can be Dremel'd out to really help that xD/Corolla throttle body work to your advantage better, especially since your ECU is more flexible (Echoes received absolutely jack in North America... Scion OEM+ is the best we can do). Speaking of which, have you considered looking into Yaris SE parts that changed, like the tighter steering rack? Not sure the torsion beam was any different, and the SE interior and suspension (maybe rear brakes) are irrelevant since you're already upgraded there.
    Back to intake stuff: I'm back to a stock throttle body right now since the 1ZZ idle control valve went on the fritz, and it really doesn't have the pull it did (running a full length AEM xB CAI and 4-2-1 header, and Magnaflow weld-in cat... seeing my fuel cut off consistently around 6,700 or so), so it does make a difference even for the nanny ECU.
    Having some spare 1NZ manifolds from the Yaris and Scion designs (and a 1ZZ-FED Celica), the Yaris has a different plenum that seems smoother, more open (more like the Celica). I still need to find a cable operated four-bolt Toyota throttle body that would work on a Yaris, but haven't taken the time at Pick-n-Pull to find one, but would love to see how much more freely it can breath with a Yaris mani.

  • @scoobygms210
    @scoobygms210 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Also a bigger throttle body does NOTHING if the hole in the intake manifold is small / tiny behind the throttle body so either port match your throttle body or put the OEM one on for the idle and better driveability I'm general .. I have a 2zr throttle body on my car but I did port the manifold to match it required alot of cutting sanding drilling and Epoxy in so places

    • @kimoliburd8829
      @kimoliburd8829 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also have a 2zr throttle with the manifold ported to the throttle. I used the 1nz throttle body control and mounted it on the 2zr throttle body. Idle is perfect and it doesn't have the rev hang like the 2zr throttle.

    • @hazard2gnt
      @hazard2gnt ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm looking to do this currently. Did you remove that that copper mesh thing on the top half of the intake behind the throttle body?

    • @BlazeGelos
      @BlazeGelos ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think so, because if you put the larger TB it is going to allow more air at the same angle as the smaller TB. The hole in the intake manifold would be the bottleneck only when you get close to WOT.

    JDM Vitz RS vvti solenoid next and depending on your factory units a "c" marked maf unit and RS coil packs. No point with irdium on a yaris, the plugs are easy to get to and copper provide a better spark but with more maitenance, you can clean them every race tho and get 5 or 6 brand new sets of ngk coppers in same rating for the price of the iridiums. I just clean mine every service and every 3 she gets new NGK coppers and she purrs. Ive been making posts on yarisworld, theres lots of good info there for our cars.

      The 1st Gen JDM Vitz RS is what you mean for coilpacks. The 2nd gen uses rocker arms and has a wider valve cover with long reach spark plugs like those in the 2TRFE Tacoma and longer coil packs than the 1st Gen Vitz. I had both generations vitz

    Did you change the guts from the 1nz-fe throttle body into the new larger throttle body? It will not stop throwing errors if you left the 1zz guts in. Drill out the rivets, pop in the 1nz-fe circuit board into the 1zz-fe throttle body and it will fix the error codes. I still am yet to do the throttle body as i want to have a adaptor plate machined first so its perfect fit.
