Windows HDR is so shit, that I can't use it with my local dimming MiniLED (1100 zones). It dims everything that uses Dark mode UI (white text on black bg) so much that text becomes unreadably dim.. simultaneously, everything bright becomes eye-searingly blown out in comparison, and somehow leave brightening halos beyond edges - not local dimming halos, but some other effect, because it spreads through several "layers" of the surrounding local dimming looking like a gradient. This bright halo effect does not affect HDR video playback, and games that use white text on black BG also work perfectly fine. I tried to like Sony. I had the previous version, the Inzone M9--beautiful picture, and the worst firmware of any monitor I have ever experienced in my life (worth mentioning that I work in IT and have played with hundreds of different monitors in my life). Returned it right away and got an Alienware 32 inch 4k OLED, which has made me very happy for gaming and films.
So let me get this straight: You review a 1000USD monitor which isnt even 4K and you recomend people to DECREASE the screen size to make it look better???
I've used HDR on MiniLED and OLED (m4 ipad pro) and I still dont like it 😭 must just be a me thing. I have yet to try it say on a very large TV for say a home theatre experience, so maybe I'd like it there...? Otherwise I just find HDR annoying personally.
As salty as I am about how my InZone M9 turned out, I gotta give it to Sony here. They seem like they addressed just about every problem people including me had with their first monitors, like HDR preventing you from changing any of the picture settings like the brightness and the god-awful stands that came with the original monitors. This is leaps and bounds of steps in the right direction.
It is literally impossible to go back to SDR after experiencing calibrated HDR on a high end panel. If you say otherwise, you simply haven't seen properly calibrated HDR because there's no way there's actual real people that prefer SDR after seeing real HDR.
Before I get too far in. I'm taking a stab that it's 1440p but nit 480hz at 1440p....if so they need to make it less confusing because the marketing on the box makes you think it's a 1440p 480hz monitor
I'm still not sold on HDR. I have an HDR display with FALD and to me, it really doesn't look any better than just using the tone mapping feature instead. Honestly in most scenes it just seems to lower the general display brightness to make the brights appear brighter in comparison, but then I'm losing color and general brightness as a whole. I think it's less impressive being that my monitor still handles around 980nits on a 50% screen while with OLED you're already down to 400nits.

on top of the fact they’re highlighting a feature which promotes reverse burn in without stating that fact
Smaller screens are better for high level competitive gaming. You can see the whole screen in your field od view
Esports players exclusively play on 24 inch because they like to stay close to the monitor and keep everything within peripheral vision such as mini map etc.
Standard tournament monitors are all 24.5” as well, so keeping in line with that as an option
Plouffe told that this display has micro lens tech. I don't find anything about that. Is it those small lenses above OLED layer to "aim" light which makes the display "look" brighter. This was someones patent locked couple years back, but I can't rememeber who's. Is the patent yet lifted?
LG probably
Would love to see a review of the new M9, seems like it's a pretty decent upgrade over the last M9
So can i finally get CRT motion clarity and no input lag? Then you can sell me a product in 2-5 years when its priced reasonably
My very first gaming monitor was the Benq Zowie XL2730 it had a dedicated navigation puck for the OSD. Ever since Ive move on from that monitor using a navigation nipple has been super uncomfortable. I hate it. I wish more monitor manufactures took notes from Benq and ship their monitors with a puck
so how do i get this in aus?
i knew about this last month but yeah
I tried to like Sony. I had the previous version, the Inzone M9--beautiful picture, and the worst firmware of any monitor I have ever experienced in my life (worth mentioning that I work in IT and have played with hundreds of different monitors in my life). Returned it right away and got an Alienware 32 inch 4k OLED, which has made me very happy for gaming and films.
I so no difference between the FPS Pro mode on and off?
$1000+ and couldn't add a full bandwidth HDMI
nice to see a reasonable footprint for a stand! especially on something you cant use an arm on
9:05 once you go OLED black, you're never going back.🤣
So let me get this straight: You review a 1000USD monitor which isnt even 4K and you recomend people to DECREASE the screen size to make it look better???
2:40 bad tech tip, just get a 30$ monitor arm from Amazon instead. That will pivot just fine
I have found my perfect monitor; the 21:9 LG OLED 240hz 39inches. I don't know if I can ever go back to regular ratio ever again.
1100 is pretty good for an oled. im still using a pg27uq and that was 2k when it came out
does it get burnin?
Every OLED eventually does
Is it vesa mount compatible?
No pivot means I need an arm to play sound voltex :(
Please tell me more about the DP 2.1?? :D
I've used HDR on MiniLED and OLED (m4 ipad pro) and I still dont like it 😭 must just be a me thing. I have yet to try it say on a very large TV for say a home theatre experience, so maybe I'd like it there...? Otherwise I just find HDR annoying personally.
If the content isn't made for it it may not look better, and if it's not calibrated it won't look better.
Sadly this one doesn't allow 4k signal downscale on Xbox
As salty as I am about how my InZone M9 turned out, I gotta give it to Sony here. They seem like they addressed just about every problem people including me had with their first monitors, like HDR preventing you from changing any of the picture settings like the brightness and the god-awful stands that came with the original monitors. This is leaps and bounds of steps in the right direction.
This was a tough sell, especially as I solo play mostly. I went with the inzone M9 II
I'm surprised a Sony monitor included a vertical stand.
I love this monitor. Its so much brighter than my Lg c1 and it fantastic for pc use.
what is the bitrate of the 2.1 Uhbr20 80 gb port display?
It is literally impossible to go back to SDR after experiencing calibrated HDR on a high end panel.
If you say otherwise, you simply haven't seen properly calibrated HDR because there's no way there's actual real people that prefer SDR after seeing real HDR.
I would consider this if there was an option without the stand that knocks some off the price. I won't use it so it would just be a waste.
Planned on getting this one when it's around $800. Even if that takes like 3 more years.
Before I get too far in. I'm taking a stab that it's 1440p but nit 480hz at 1440p....if so they need to make it less confusing because the marketing on the box makes you think it's a 1440p 480hz monitor
It is 1440p at 480hz, you got confused
That 360 spin is pretty cool for a monitor.
Until you have a power cord and display cable all wrapped around!
Oh god, another Plouffe video 🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀️
Plouffe: owns a monitor
Still waiting for a curved OLED 4K over 40" thats under $2K
Is it just me or is that FPS+ mode outlining a cheat?
$1k ?
I’ll just buy a very good tv 😂🤪🤣💯👍👍👍
Hopefully they add black frame insertion with an update
It doesn't work well on oleds so it's pointless
Wow Sony made a really good PC monitor, not a name I'm used to for high end gaming monitors.
What possible application is there for a 360 degree display rotation? Why is that a selling point?
Idk why that was repeatedly pointed out. No one is spinning their monitors around like that with the cables plugged in
I'm still not sold on HDR.
