I really enjoyed that Adam went through the effort to optimize the microphones as well, to show how good they can be. From Linus' test, it sounded like just a waste of plastic and electronics, but they actually sounded half-decent when Adam had turned the gain down.
Also in some rural areas amazon deliveries can take up to 2 weeks even with prime. You don't have 1 or 2 day prime delivery everywhere. Walmart has a greater presence with their stores across the country.
And some of it is really nice. Like that mouse? I want that mouse. It's an awesome entry level mouse and I have no need for extra level. Maybe that monitor isn't exactly bee's knees but curved screens run for like a thousand bucks, this is really, really "not too bad".
I used to work for Walmart in Bentonville, and one of my starting positions was support for all of these types of items. Since I was able to pull up all sorts of info about them, I was able to find out most of them are just rebrands from bigger tech companies. That’s why they look similar, and aren’t completely terrible (some of them anyways). For example, most of the Onn. SD cards are from PNY, and a lot of their TVs have been Hisense and TCL rebrands.
the monitor looks almost the same as my msi monitor for some reason. mine is va, linus saw it was at least not tn, so I guess it might also be va aka msi rebranded stuff?
I used to work for an OEM, and I shipped stuff over there to your Bentonville HQ a lot. Fun times. You guys were really nice about making our market spacing exclusive. As far as I can tell, you still are. Thanks former Bentonville worker, for all your hard work and coolness.
Back over ten years ago a lot of their electronics were rebadged Funai. Funai fucking sucks. I used to work at a call center that did warranty and support for Funai. So much garbage tier e-waste. Nice to hear Walmart found a slightly better OEM.
I love that James just happily stared at the camera from the background in the second mic test when he saw someone recording. That is absolutely the most in character thing I think I've ever seen him do. Made me smile too.
Onn really does give good value for the money. I don't think I've ever had a "well, you get what you pay for" moment with them - it all works well enough that I never give it a second thought, which is really the best you can hope for from a budget brand.
Got an onn monitor where the switch to change the sources and basically do anything with the monitor was broken immediately. I do however still use it as a backup monitor and it’s great
ONN is the worst budget brand. Go TCL or Hisense. Not overly expensive. Just bought a 4k tv for 176$.... Better than any onn tv I've ever purchased. Onn will last you a couple months. longer if you don't have kids or pets. Other brands will last you a couple at least.
@@FrootyYodelsfr, had a projector just one day stop working. Mouse middle button stopped working. The only thing onn brand I have that still works is the keyboard
Linus hit the nail on the head when he mentioned his 13-14 year old self. These products are fine for the price and likely perfect for kids. Im not buying my messy ass child a logitech g915, all gamers have to struggle at the beginning, and this full setup is beyond better than what most of us had in 2010s era pc gaming.
Literally the nicest peripheral in my oldest child’s setup is the monitor. And it’s ironically an Onn branded one. 1080p 165hz. Works just fine for her. I think it was like 150 bucks and she got it as a birthday gift last year.
@@rockking1379 yeah coming from an era where 720p was cool and I wasnt even aware you could go over 60hz which would have been useless anyways cause I was getting like 20 fps max, thats pretty cool to hear. Its amazing how there is affordable tech that used to be super high end.
@@cameronharvey4746 my oldest rocks a GTX 970 so I don’t think it can even spit out 165 fps in any game anyway. My son runs on a 1050 ti. And my youngest has a laptop because I literally have no where I could put another desk for her to have a full tower without my wife killing me. She gets like 30 fps in fortnite and that’s good enough for her because she’s only 5. She just wants to play games with us.
A lot of this stuff is better than the stuff I'm using right now lol. I'm still using a TN panel and a £10 "mechanical-feel" keyboard from 7 years ago with a damaged enter key (I'm using it until it breaks because it isn't that bad and it's fine considering I didn't pay much for it and it's lasted this long)
@@rockking1379 Bruh, I built my young brother a scrap PC from old parts I had, with my old gtx 780, the PC runs smooth and gets good FPS, now I upgraded his PC to 12th gen i5-12400f with the same GPU, he is getting 500+ fps in valorant high settings, He was happy before, but now he started to see that there are levels to it, he used the PC for 5 years with an old 3rd gen i7 with no issues and didn't know it can be better than this lol.
@@tradeka4206 Same. Kinda made me want one, because I was amazed by what it could do. "Wait, you can plug headphones into your chair and hear the game? This is the Future."
They actually do sell parts. I'm not sure why they didn't use one, or at least mention it and grab parts from storage to represent, because it's actually a pretty good place to buy PC parts since most folks don't know about it.
Especially considering when the video debuted showing that equipment, they indicated they would be testing cables included with monitors. I hope we get to see a follow up, but it would have been a nice ~15 second deviation to say what standards the included cables were compatible with.
Honestly, it seems to me this stuff does exactly what it should. It's reasonably priced, does it's job decently and looks ok. 13 year old me used to buy bargain bin headsets, keyboards, Mice and speakers at the local electronics store to fit it in my budget. If my Parents had gotten me something like this equipment for Christmas i would have been damn happy. This is a "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" situation where you could upgrade later when you have the money but there is no reason to rush since what you have does the job.
Yeah. 13 year old me would've LOVED to have a cheap headset sound this good for the mic. Back then, it'd basically sound like you're getting waterboarded when buying cheap headsets. For budget, it definitely sounds and looks really solid.
I feel like you could find much nicer stuff for same price online though. I guess stores like these are convenient but man I´m glad I like to hunt around and am even comfortable buying used.
The only ones I would swap would be the speakers and monitor. The Creative Pebble 2 are around the same price and are really impressive for the price. And if you don’t care about the curved monitor, you can get a cheaper 27” high refresh rate like the MSi at Costco for $159
@@ThatLaloBoy I don't know anything about either set of speakers, but I'll tell you (sitting here looking at my MSI costco monitor) that there are some trade offs. The monitor from ONN in the video is 1440p (they mention that at some point), but not high refresh I don't think. However my MSI is 1080p, but 144 hz, so I'd assume that it would depend on the use case. For gaming and content creation the MSI is likely a smidge better, but the ONN is likely better for content consumption and still decent for games. So if you want the higher resolution the ONN isn't going to be a horrible choice.
1 year later if anyone sees this, i just picked up a 24 inch monitor at 165 hz for 100 bucks from walmart, and its been very good for the week ive had it.
A comparison between their standard and "premium" cable run through the cable tester with an in-depth look at the differences (if there's any) would be nice eventhough I'm not even American nor have I ways to buy from Walmart, but interesting to see nonetheless
It's kinda a shame the cable tester doesn't make more appearances. I feel like we should get a test result for every cable that comes with any monitor they unbox.
@@Michael-zf1ko probably in the process of being moved to the labs set up area. They did however test a few amazon basics cables and such a while back and I assume those would come from the same factory as the Walmart budget ones.
Fun fact "Premium High Speed HDMI" is in fact a standard of HDMI. It is used to inform consumers that the cable capable of 4k at 60hz and High Dynamic Range; where as Standard HDMI could only do up to 1080 until 2009 and only 4k at 30hz and does not have the ability to do HDR.
I'm amazed at how decent everything was. All the mics were usable. Yeah they all have their own issues, but they work and no one is gonna throw a fit if you join a meeting using them.
Actually if someone used the podcast mic i would genuinly be impressed how good it sounds... You can clearly hear its not your regular headset/laptop mic..
*all* the mics? Sorry but , are you deaf? That webcam microphone is literally painful to listen to even through speakers and even if it's not clipping. I'd kick/mute anyone who uses it, you don't do this to your worst enemy! The headset microphone was also bad, though bearable, I gues... Also, in my opinion as a singer, any semi-decent microphone should not be clipping while you're just talking, even when the volume is set at 100% (unless you applied insane 30dB gain)!
@@KenS1267 headset was fairly good even without changing anything, it was the camera mic and the stand alone one that needed redoing. And the one on the camera was still bad. But the headset was surprisingly good for what it is, let alone how much it (didn't) cost.
@@LRM12o8 you have insanely high standards if you don't consider that Decent. That or your speakers are hard to listen to. I never said it was good, audiophile gear, recording studio equipment, anything. I said it was usable.
@@laurencefraser I wouldn't call it bad. To me "bad" would be anything with constant peaking or cutting out (even with adjustments), inability to understand what they're saying, etc. I wish the bar was higher, but with current products out there, especially budget products, it's insane how often you can't even understand someone.
@@shamonfeaster9809 But the selling point of consoles is big picture gaming isn't it? Considering that a massive TV these days is cheaper than some gaming monitors... I'd just go for one of those. And yes i've tried both. Of course games like Escape from Tarkov or Ready or Not don't make sense in a big TV with a controller, but like 90% of console oriented games are so much better on a big TV.
You can tell that PC parts are starting to become easier to find when LTT uploads more videos about builds. That said, I’m glad we got a follow up for the Walmart video.
When they did the secondary test for the microphone without the clipping I was actually blown away when he was using it, aside from the slight noise the sound was really crisp, like I could listen to that in a video and not want to gouge my ears.
@@reaperofburgers I don't stream, but if I did not have a Logitech USB Rock Band mic I picked up for $2(I grabbed 3 at once when I saw them in early 2020 right before coof) at the local goodwill, and added a foam filter and mini mic stand from Aliexpress for like $12 all in I use for Zoom calls with work, where no one has a problem hearing me, then this mic would be on my list for sure. So if you ever see a Rock Band Logitech mic at the thrift store for cheap, then grab it as they are really good quality, and they work on just about any modern OS without drivers.
I got that X Rocker chair in like 2006 or so. It was a christmas gift and I remember thinking it was the coolest thing in the world for like 2 weeks. Then the speakers broke and I realized it was super uncomfy. The fact that they still make it is astonishing.
Same here, took me back to the good ol’ days when if you owned a 1st gen iPod mp3 player and a pair of Heely’s you were the shittt LMFAOO ahh good times man back when shit was simple and fun
CRI is a rating of how close light is to sunlight. Florescent lighting for example is known for having an incredibly poor CRI as it only emits spikes of light and not a spectrum like incandescent. Incandescent is till basically the standard as it was nearly perfect compared to sunlight. LEDs are a large jump from florescent but still behind incandescent more emitting similar to a TV.
CRI is a rating of how close a light is to a black body emitter because its physically impossible to heat a filament to 5600K sunlight is used as the standard. For warm lights they are compared to a 3200K incandescent. This is why 2700K lights only have CRI of 98 or so
I bought an 8k Onn HDMI cable for my PC it seems to work well it does 4K at 120hz supposedly I would like to see a test on one it’s surprisingly good qaulity
Why do we keep upvoting the weird lady with a bunch of medical scams videos? Can everyone stop promoting predatory people? Not all checkmarks should be at the top of the comment list.
09:40 - That's pretty much the exact opposite of what a high CRI means. I literally thought you were describing poor-CRI lamps while saying that. Good CRI output not only means a wide spectrum, but also one that is as close as possible to black-body radiation (like the sun, or filament bulbs).
Yeah, as an avid flashlight enthusiast I was screaming when he said that. He literally described it opposite of how it is. You can even see it when they show the results from their spectrometer.
Something I think is interesting is that Dollarama is also getting into selling stuff for a gaming setup. Obviously since they are a dollar store they aren’t coming out with monitors and computers/computer parts and chairs, but they do have a store brand gaming mouse for 4$, and the other day I picked up some hdmi cables from there. Comparatively I think my Dollarama is kind of small so I don’t know what other gaming stuff they might have.
Tbf they're not PC gaming chairs, they're meant for console gaming. I used to have one back in the day for PS3 but probably a better one because it didn't smell like poop XD
I used to have 2 of almost that exact same chair (also from Walmart). They're really not even bad for console gaming. Definitely not worth the price and it's less comfy than a bean bag chair would be, but not horrible. I think the main problem is the price. I remember mine were $50 each on sale but yeah for $100 not at all worth.
I work at my local Walmart and we were getting a bunch of these around the holidays. They just sat around for months, as a featured item, nearly untouched until February, when I assume they just got rid of them to make space for the giant teddy bears/Easter stuff.
I am not gonna lie, I have A LOT of ONN stuff, and honestly, it has all treated me extremely well. I almost bought the keyboard about a year ago when I was looking to upgrade, but found a smaller keyboard that was very nice used for the same price. I do however use their "gaming" webcam for my streams! And its okay! Not great, but it was over half the cost of a Logitech c920. I exclusively use their USB cables for micro usb, C and apple chargers. They're extremely cheap and good quality. I have a onn car phone mount, it has lasted 3 years now going strong and was only $5. My gf has a phone mount we got at microcenter for $15 that only lasted a year. I also have a pair of their wireless earbuds, the battery lasts FOREVER, and they've been working with me since 2017 when I was working at UPS, all the way to today! Those were $5 at the time, and are now, I believe $10? I also bought an onn gaming mouse that I used when I first built my PC. My gf uses it now and actually prefers it over the Logitech mouse I gave to her... I dont know why though, but thats lasted 2 years now! Her brother also has an onn tv that has lasted 3 years now. I have more than that, but I cant think of a time their product has disappointed. I never went into buying their stuff with the thought I was buying top tier products. I always thought they'd be things that would work for a month and that would be it, but I was wrong! They're cheaply built products that work well honestly. I do plan to keep buying their stuff. I have a good setup now, so I dont need anything more now, but if you're tight on budget buy onn stuff, seriously! It's surprisingly great!
Onn really does give good value for the money. I don't think I've ever had a "well, you get what you pay for" moment with them - it all works well enough that I never give it a second thought, which is really the best you can hope for from a budget brand.
i have the same monitor that they have in this video-- AND we have a 55 inch 4k tv by them that was under 300 dollars. tbh the only thing i don't like by them are their headphones/headsets, but other than that i love most of their products; cheap, good enough quality, can find them practically anywhere
3:25 I would like to see ALL display cables included with monitors put through the cable tester in future reviews. So we can know if we should just toss the included ones or not! You've got the hardware, seems like something for Labs to cover :D
That’s a good one! Of course only a reeeealy small quantity of all the available monitors on the market could be tested, but it would be pretty interesting though
Im actually fairly impressed at the pricing of this setup. Not bad WM. When you have a kid you are wanting to build a setup for, and dont wanna spend 3-4k after pc desk monitor chair etc, this seems like a solid route
Yes and no. With the volume set low, it does sound acceptable, but it shouldn't be clipping like that ever. Any semi-decent microphone should still be able to deliver a clean signal at 100% volume without gain. You might need the volume to hear yourself over game audio and others in the chat and if you can't get it that way, your only other option (short of installing special mixer software) is turning everything down in the windows sound mixer, then raising the system volume way above normal level and that's a royal pain in tha butt!
Walmart sells MSI and LG gaming monitors in the stores as well as cyberpower gaming computers so you really can get a perfectly adequate setup in store at Walmart
I actually bought this mic back in summer. It’s terrible, the build quality feels decent in parts, but the the microphone broke like in 5 months, the sound quality backs it up but it’s still bad mic for the price. You can get way better ones for a few bucks more.
legion laptops are high quality and some of the best cooling for a laptop on the market, it has nothing to do with walmart. they are just the middle men in the deal. now for ONN specific items those are made by a company owned by walmart
I own a computer repair shop and I bought those speakers just to be able to test audio out on PCs. I was actually surprised by how good they sounded, (for $19.)
"I thought the monitor was just called 'The Game', which... I guess I lost now". That's the best reference I've seen so far on this channel, reminded me of the old days :')
Cheap, but not cheap enough for my HS/college days. I would find really old, used stuff for really cheap, often free. and fix it up or mod it to suit my needs. My favorite one I actually still use for my setup when I'm watching a movie or playing a game with speakers instead of headphones. It was a boom box/stereo receiver from the 70's with something fried in the tape deck circuitry that was preventing you from switching to radio or aux. I got it for "free, as is", nipped the wires to the tape deck motors and reader head and got the thing to work again. I now have it driving a 10" stereo sub with high-end pass-through that my dad thew out and the original boombox speakers with 4" mids and 1" tweeters. I even get full band Shortwave so I get to listen to all of the amateur and pirate stations broadcasting out of the western Slavic countries and Scandinavia when the ionosphere expands at night.
I have quite a few of products from ONN. My dual monitor stand and TV mount are from them, and I gotta say, they’re pretty solid and have lasted me for awhile without signs of breaking. Definitely worth it if you’re trying to save some money.
The X-Rocker must have really taken a dive. I have the original and, while the ergonomics are abysmal, it has 2 speakers plus subs with a 2 amp DC input and sounds great.
I was thinking the same thing! I had the original back in the early 2000s. They were also bigger. I honestly loved it for playing console games on the TV.
My brother got the 2.1 for Christmas a couple years back and i hate it, it even has bumps sticking out of it, it also has a built in vibrator when bass is played through it. Tbh I've completely stopped using gaming chairs now.
I was wondering why they bought that chair for PC gaming because I used to have a similar one for CONSOLE gaming years ago. It was pretty nice to have speakers right next to you while playing on PS3 back in the day. Unfortunately for some reason ours didn't last long.
still sucks. i cant sit in the thing for 5 minutes without back pain. and when the main feature of your product doesnt work, thats an automatic fail for the product overall
being honest, i'm genuinely surprised by how oddly good quality a lot of wally world's peripherals are. considering how bad their OVERPOWERED gaming pc line was (and the fact that we shamed them so bad, they outright stopped manufacturing PC's) maybe, just maybe, they can actually manufacture their own brand of components.
Well, more likely, they can cut some amazing deals with decent chinese companies, as even the "higher tier" companies will cut WalMart a huge deal, due to the sheer massive increase of volume of sales they'd get.
I’m 35 and I visited my sister in college this past year and during the tour of the campus I shouted in the packed dining hall “I just lost the game” and a wave of groans swept across the room. I was saddened to see such little progress in 20 years.

Also NZXT: *Rolling on Floor Laughing and Then gets back up with sides still hurting as constantly laughing* " Stop! Stop! This is too much for my sides! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 "
From someone who has used the ONN keyboard for about a year now, I have absolutely no issues with it and see no reason to upgrade to anything from any other manufacturer (no matter how much I love my Corsair, lmao). The blue switches while cheap sound and feel great to me, the floating key design looks good and is great for easy cleaning, and the included wrist wrest makes it so my hands dont feel like garbage after 20 minutes. Absolute stellar keyboard for a great price.
The onn puns are so on point. Glad to see that some of the products weren't complete junk. I won't buy any, but the monitor looks sweet and would make a great secondary to my 32-inch.
I had, and actually still have, an X-Rocker chair from about 15 years ago. It was quite a bit bigger and more expensive than the one shown here. Have not used the speakers in ages, and the padding is long dead. Though I do remember the speakers on it to be a decent bit better than any of our TVs. Loved the thing as a kid.
Yeah I had one as a kid also around 15 years ago that had arm rests and better padding. They were the shit back then lol. Was great for console gaming and definitely better than TV speakers at the time.
I have one of their full sized chairs and its meh, been using it for the last 5 years or so and just starting to consider a new one, although I don't think these chairs do anything for your back and the screws constantly untighten leaving you in an awkward position, its good and bad LOL
After seeing Walmart overprice all tech for years these price points genuinely surprised me. Id actually buy that mouse and monitor and will if mine ever break
Not going to lie. Low key I super enjoy watching Linus do reviews like this. I'm not sure the lure but definitely like these. Maybe because of Linus banter and the fact he has to suffer through things like this. It's just so enjoyable!
Seriously, budget speakers from 10-15-20 years ago ROCK. I use a 2+1 creative set right now that's probably older than 50% of the people that watched this video. They still sound great imo.
@@OKANGUVEN99 I think I have the same 2.1 speakers ($30 in 2007!). In my case the connector from the subwoofer to the speakers broke last year, so I bought other speakers. However the new ones didn't have bass, so I still use the subwoofer from the creative speakers and it works great
Coincidently , I’ve had those speakers for like 2 years now.. fell on the floor multiple times (very easy to knock over, poorly balanced) and they are still in great shape ! Sounds as good as you can get for $15-20. I’ve been ONN & didn’t even know it 😉
I had those speakers as well, but they developed a high pitched squeal that I couldn't get rid of. Getting some nicer speakers fixed the issue. They worked great before that though. Definitely good for the price.
I have the same Onn speakers too, sometimes they act weird, like rarely the left speaker will go out for a few minutes. But most the time they are fine.
I got the keyboard like a year ago on sale for about $25 and it’s pretty good. You can actually forgo the sketchy software with some key commands built into the device itself.
I've actually been using the onn gaming mouse for about a year it holds up surprisingly well and the battery still lasts about 3 weeks in-between charges
That ain't good when I have a Perixx Bluetooth Permice-804 ergo mouse that has been going on the same 2 cheap Magnavox branded AAA batteries for nearly a year, and 1/2 of daily use with my tablet I use it as my main compute device at work along with my phone, as I can't stand being stuck at my desktop all day, and as my couch computer at home. Plus the tablet is one of the ONN Pro 10.1in tablets with 3GB of RAM running Android 11, in combo with a logitech K480 keyboard, which handles all my task just fine.
I actually have those exact ONN Speakers with the Bass control.. They are definitely not audiophile quality by any stretch , but for $19 USD .. They are perfectly acceptable.. I have had mine for over a year and am perfectly happy with them..
Yeah I picked up one of their thumb drives last week. I mean it's slow because it's got a small cache but 32GB for $5.50 and I had it in hand instantly. (That's the USB 2.0 price. I Knowing the cache issue I didn't bother paying $1.50 more for USB 3.0.)
I purchased an Onn product _once_ . All I did was write Linux Lite to it then try to use it to install on my laptop. It *literally* fried, as in got so hot components burned. I could smell it. When disconnecting, the heat was sufficient to damage skin. Less than 45 minutes of use after opening the package, and it didn't even do the single job it was purchased for. Should have spent the extra few bucks to get a Sandisk. Since then, buying Onn products has always seemed no different than literally burning your money to me. Seeing entire shelves flooded with their crap motivated me stop shopping for electronics at Walmart. But if you've got the funds to risk then go for it. I might have just gotten unlucky.
I have the ONN 4K Android streaming boxes I picked up for $20 for my secondary TV(kids TV and the bedrooms), and they are really solid, and the $15 ONN Android Streaming sticks for 720p/1080p if you are really broke ain't bad either although they only run Android 9, but at least they still get security, and app updates, and the remotes are good on both models.
@@trajectoryunown You did get unlucky, as I have a few of the ONN 16GB USB 2.0 flash drives(better compatibility with older systems)one I use for basic data back up at work of office files, another has Chrome OS Flex installer on it, and another has Solus Linux Live boot on it, and for me they work as good as any other USB 2.0 key I've owned, and overall the ONN branded stuff has worked fine for me. To be fair, just about every brand is going to have a few duds when it comes to flash memory, as I once got a 4GB Sandisk CF card for my Nikon D60 DSLR that was nearly $80 at the time, and it was a dead out of the package, and I had to fight Best Buy to get a refund.
Walmart used to sell a brand called "Blackweb" for gaming peripherals. I bought a 60W speaker setup, and it started to smell like burning plastic within 20 minutes. I returned it and got a Cyber Acoustics set of PC speakers. I also bought a Blackweb keyboard, which I still have on a shelf. The keyboard was not too bad for a membrane keyboard. My issue was that it was WIDE. It had these side plate things that had lights and were entirely unnecessary. It was cheap and it worked, though. Also, I REALLY think that people should be tweaking their mics using Equalizer APO. I have a Blue Snowball you probably would not believe is a Blue Snowball. It can really make an extreme difference in the sound of a mic.
@@thephantompsychic Yeah, you can use EQ APO to adjust any audio device. Whether it is input or output. I use the PEACE skin for EQ APO. Just makes things way more easy. You might have to reinstall EQ APO to do this, but in the options to select which devices you want to install for, select your devices and include the Blue Snowball. One more thing: I have the white model with cardioid pickup pattern. There are different pickup patterns for Snowball mics. My personal settings are boosted gain(becaus setting up a mic with windows is just....no...), and I have the bass turned down a tiny bit, like -2. I was finding a humming noise when I talked. I don't have a very deep voice, only slightly deeper than linus in the videos. I also use the NVIDIA Broadcast for the AMAZING noise cancelling. This gets rid of room hisses and background noise from my AC. It gets hot here in lower Colorado, so a fan or AC is on most of the time. For a pop filter, i just use some foam from another product and a rubber band to hold it around the mic
FYI, the vesa mount isn't a feature, it's a standard in most of Europe, meaning they can't sell them here without one. So to reach a wider market, it has to be there.
@@joes. no there isnt, but as linus also said, they use parts from a standardized production companies, which means those parts also have to match European standards.
It's because of you guys I got into pc building Linus. Thank you so much for all the help and tutorials you post. Made me into a hardcore pc builder because of it. I also love that you guys take your time to do review of all the budget stuff too. Thanks and keep on making these vids!
Exactly. My landlord bought an expensive couch ($800) from a "boutique" furniture store, and it's made from the cheapest materials available. Total cost couldn't be more than $60 for materials.
Ehh, it's fine but hardly amazing, check out Podcastage there are a quite a number of just as good or even better mics within the $15-30 range, for example the Samson Go Mic has been roughly $30 for at least half a decade and is very good but even for as little as $15 or $20 you can get something like the Samson M10 / R10S or XM8500 or Neewer NW-3U to name a few, the XM8500 is a fairly popular budget choice.
He didn't get commission I'm sure, and when I was in the industry with a place that did do commission, peripherals would earn you nothing unless paired with a system sale
So just for a point of comparison, the X rocker 2.0 gaming chair has been available for many many years. I can remember something similar to that or maybe even that exact same chair being available over 10 years ago.😊
I had one probably 15 years ago and it was ass. My gaming setup was on a short TV stand so the only pro was that i wasnt sitting on the fucking ground lol

And if you don’t care about the curved monitor, you can get a cheaper 27” high refresh rate like the MSi at Costco for $159
Except for the poo chair 🤣
@@ThatLaloBoy I don't know anything about either set of speakers, but I'll tell you (sitting here looking at my MSI costco monitor) that there are some trade offs. However my MSI is 1080p, but 144 hz, so I'd assume that it would depend on the use case. For gaming and content creation the MSI is likely a smidge better, but the ONN is likely better for content consumption and still decent for games.
The difference almost always is beefier shielding and some kind of connector plating, at least that is what is claimed.

This was a top tier video. Entertaining, simple, affordable products 10/10
One of the best because real people are going to be buying and using this stuff unlike an Xbox One Dev edition
being honest, i'm genuinely surprised by how oddly good quality a lot of wally world's peripherals are. considering how bad their OVERPOWERED gaming pc line was (and the fact that we shamed them so bad, they outright stopped manufacturing PC's) maybe, just maybe, they can actually manufacture their own brand of components.
Well, more likely, they can cut some amazing deals with decent chinese companies, as even the "higher tier" companies will cut WalMart a huge deal, due to the sheer massive increase of volume of sales they'd get.
@@MCCMCKnyte though I haven't even been happy with their USB cables and other misc junk they've sold under onn for years.
I stayed away from Onn, but I've always been happy with _performance_ of *overpriced* blackweb brand at Walmart.
It's like it's always been: you got to know what is good and what isn't when buying cheap. This didn't change over the last 50 years
I’m pretty sure their gaming laptops were pretty decent
I’m 35 and I visited my sister in college this past year and during the tour of the campus I shouted in the packed dining hall “I just lost the game” and a wave of groans swept across the room. I was saddened to see such little progress in 20 years.

@@nekomanz You've just now realized this? That's been wal-marts shtick from the get go.
Nothing wrong with a cheap, solid keyboard. I've been using a Logitech K120, a $20 keyboard, for at least 4-5 years now. Never had a reason to upgrade
16:26 goddamnit James, that wholesome video-bombing made my day.
The funny thing is that I got that mousepad for 9.99 at five below instead of 20.
how is it? i imagine not better than just buying a qck lol
lmao i got it for an actual $5
"I don’t wanna sit on the poop chair..." is the best thing Linus has said all year.
The onn puns are so on point.
Glad to see that some of the products weren't complete junk. I won't buy any, but the monitor looks sweet and would make a great secondary to my 32-inch.
onn point
Onn god
the products are onn the right track
17:20 so glad smellivision doesn't exist.
I have one of their full sized chairs and its meh, been using it for the last 5 years or so and just starting to consider a new one, although I don't think these chairs do anything for your back and the screws constantly untighten leaving you in an awkward position, its good and bad LOL
same, i used to love cranking the bass and playing cod 2 with mine. and blacksite area 51.
So it's basically name and sentiment as for the reason why they can charge such ludicrous prices?
The Xrocker was amazing for my Xbox back in the day.

Ackshually, it's not EVERY brand.

Onn brand is a life savior for budget setups. Walmart did a great job on this brand.
The cheap android tablets are not terrible either.
Walmart brands are okay I guess it's not the best it's not the worst just okay
bro did NOT just make me lose “the game” after 6 years 😭😭
Sister showed me the game, I hate her for it😂
"Cheap, crappy computer stuff was $20 when I was a kid."
Well, advancements in technology have allowed products to become even cheaper and crappier.

However the new ones didn't have bass, so I still use the subwoofer from the creative speakers and it works great
@@noisycarlos same broke for me aswell a couple of years ago, I got it fixed and now if I position the cable right it works.
Im about to have those speakers for a whole year now they work fine but I'll see if they can hold up during my upcoming move out lol
I have the same Onn speakers too, sometimes they act weird, like rarely the left speaker will go out for a few minutes. But most the time they are fine.

The quality of LTT content is just absurdly good on all fronts. Thank you LTT team!
I got the keyboard like a year ago on sale for about $25 and it’s pretty good. You can actually forgo the sketchy software with some key commands built into the device itself.
i have this exact lamp in the video and I highly recommend it for a cheap light. Its really bright and VERY adjustable.
@@CommodoreFan64 You must be fun at parties.
I actually have those exact ONN Speakers with the Bass control.. They are definitely not audiophile quality by any stretch , but for $19 USD .. They are perfectly acceptable.. I have had mine for over a year and am perfectly happy with them..
Imagine not testing their HDMI cables with that cable tester they bought
I love the disgust and contempt at 8:24.
Good to know that the Onn products aren’t terrible. So if I need an emergency mouse and keyboard, I’ll pick one up
Yeah I picked up one of their thumb drives last week.
@@trajectoryunown yeah probably just a low budge get ya by for now then go from there
I have the ONN 4K Android streaming boxes I picked up for $20 for my secondary TV(kids TV and the bedrooms), and they are really solid, and the $15 ONN Android Streaming sticks for 720p/1080p if you are really broke ain't bad either although they only run Android 9, but at least they still get security, and app updates, and the remotes are good on both models.
To be fair, just about every brand is going to have a few duds when it comes to flash memory, as I once got a 4GB Sandisk CF card for my Nikon D60 DSLR that was nearly $80 at the time, and it was a dead out of the package, and I had to fight Best Buy to get a refund.

classic meme for old farts, love it.
I lose the game every 5-12 days
This is the setup that every streamer in rage compilations use.
I still use a Blackweb USB hub. They were a bit higher quality than Onn, but still a bit on the cheap side.
Wait I didn't know you can tune mics with EQ APO. I also have a blue snowball. What settings do you use?
Gotta Love James at 16:20, just making a meme face in the background.
FYI, the vesa mount isn't a feature, it's a standard in most of Europe, meaning they can't sell them here without one.
So to reach a wider market, it has to be there.
Are there Walmarts in Europe? I'd think that they probably only sell Onn products in North America.
@@joes. no there isnt, but as linus also said, they use parts from a standardized production companies, which means those parts also have to match European standards.
@@joes. Walmart did once try and break into the German market and got their asses royally handed to them if I remember right.

I love that Brandon is just yelling from across the warehouse, in the middle of them recording. :D
"What makes premium premium?"
"The price!"

Exactly. My landlord bought an expensive couch ($800) from a "boutique" furniture store, and it's made from the cheapest materials available. Total cost couldn't be more than $60 for materials.
Dude… i haven’t lost the game in like 6 years!!!!! totally uncalled for😂😂
Ok the podcast mic when optimized actually sounds amazing for the price. What sucks is you have to adjust volume levels to get it to work right.
11:45 I guess you could say they arrived ONN time
Omg
The sales guy would have been in his best mood ever, after selling such a margin machine.
He didn't get commission I'm sure, and when I was in the industry with a place that did do commission, peripherals would earn you nothing unless paired with a system sale
Walmart barely pays competitive wages, commission is not a thing.
@@greyXstar Wait Walmart pays a competitive wage? I need to go tell my Team Lead that lol

Yeah, someone in the comments said he got it way back in 2007 only for the speakers to break and to realize that it was uncomfy as hell, lol.
I had one probably 15 years ago and it was ass. My gaming setup was on a short TV stand so the only pro was that i wasnt sitting on the fucking ground lol
I actually enjoyed their motile line of laptops. I still have both of mine and I use them both regularly. Would be nice if they brought back an updated version of them
Yeah, the "OP" gaming tower was pretty thrashed in reviews but I seem to remember the "OP" laptops getting the pursed lip nods of approval, and the Motile laptops were shockingly good for their price point.
I personally used a bunch of different monitors, purchased the ONN 24in 165hz 1080p panel.
For $150, it’s a pretty damn solid monitor. Has all the settings you’d need etc. height adjustable too.

The area they really have improved for me is their laptops. My current gaming laptop actually came from Walmart. After a RAM upgrade and putting another NVME in it, it's pretty nice.
Iva actually purchased their Onn TV mounts, and they’re not half bad! Also, Walmart sells Onn-branded HDMI 2.1 cables for around $15 a piece. And they’re really good! I’ve got a few of them, and they’ve held up well!
Onn has come such a long way from being obvious rebranded 3rd party electronics to less obvious 3rd party electronics with a more consistent design philosophy that I actually like (curvy). Good job Walmart for actually making cheap electronics with not only cost but performance in mind.
