Great job fella I just got a 5kw Chinese special turn up today, gas companies are taking us all for a ride for as long as they can, I just need to find a local supplier of kerosene and I'll be saving a lot to heat the workshop.
Gas and electric, these two prototypes have made a difference to our bill this month. The dryer been on nearly every day and only requires 45watts of elec to run and sips the fuel. The house heater left on all day on 2 out of 6 settings for heat again uses 45-65watts only less the fuel.
@@GaryMcKinnonUFO I bought off ebay a box of kerosene 20L for £36 delivered and think it worked out £1.41/litre. Looking at red next as we have a local garage that sells via the pump.
I've a 3D printer also and love it. I use an FLSUN QQ5 delta it is brilliant and I have modded a lot to enhance it. Looking at the V400 now as I sell a lot from a invention for water feeders on eBay and Charity donations to UK Cancer Research.
Hi Ant, hope you're keeping well. Really like your heater set-up, neat and tidy is the way to do it. And the IP box is ideal, especially as you're developing a kit. Out of interest what size is the box you're using here? Thanks for sharing and good luck with the kit. Stay safe and keep up the good work.
Can you cite ONE example of these heaters catching fire from a hard shutdown? Even if the heater is damaged I got mine for $110 and it’s already paid for itself🤷♂️
@@mertonallowicious I said possibly. Without a controlled shutdown the heater will certainly overheat and be damaged and it could cause a fire. If you want to take that unnecessary risk go ahead.
The power supply is not for outdoor use, at least IP 44 is required especially for condensation, and making such powerful interventions on the house is easier if you have a window that you can cover with sheet metal to make holes in.
Hi, so far in the IP66 box that is very well protected against the elements the power unit has not caused any issues and is earthed etc. It needs a 12v backup battery in the event of powerloss and any chnace the heater could overheat without a cool down cycle something I am working on. It is no miracle solution by any standards but when working does provide some benefit in our small terrace house.
I agree this does need a backup to allow it to down cycle. WOrking on a solution. A few friends have had issues when the van battery for example has depleated and not allowed it to cool down, not bad reports but a little weakness the way these work.
It has made a big difference in our bills, the ability to warm up when needed and also has helped damp control as I think the air input from the house and output back into it dries the air unlike some gas heaters etc. The unit has been really reliable too, the only thing I wish I had not done is cut a hole at the top of the enclosure for fuel as it leaked water with these bad storms but sealent later has solved this. For the bang for buck this heater and solution is terrific.
Hi, many thanks and I have 3d Printers and can make you one if that helps my emails anthony@apbtechnology.co.uk. I was going to leave inside the box but restricts filling up and saves opening the unit every time also. It's been used a lot and so been very reliable.
Hi there, just wondering what your thoughts are on the diesel heater? Is it worth installing one in the home? Do you have any regrets or are there any things you would have done differently. Thank you.
Hi, thanks for the message and it does make a difference but it's no repl;acement for central heating. With energy prices through the roof it was a mad attempt to find a backup and I was pleased. I get loads of comments from people about it. Do this at your own risk though and I'm a mad inventor and like to mess.
@@inventorant Morning, It would be good to see another update towards the end of this year when the weather changes again. I have purchased one and will be installing soon. Thanks and all the best 👍
Yes phase one was wrong external air is not the right way. I did sort this fairly quickly and it's all from in the house and out and use a monoxide alarm right in front of the heat pipe also, ideally these should have this option espcially in vans etc. Amazing the heat loss from the exhaust
Make it also suck in inside air or it'll pull cold outside air and push your warm inside air out. Also there's a lot of heat in the exhaust gas. Best tip is to install a radiator and route the hot exhaust gas through it and install a co monitor. Thereby you get more than 90% efficiency

You really need to draw intake Air from inside the house, creating a closed system or you will get bug's and all sort of creatures in the house, also exhaust fumes can potentially enter, heating more efficient as it is not heating cold air . carbon monoxide detector is a must have
As the heat rises in the house from the diesel heater your Gas central heating won't come on as much. And you dont pay the Big gas companies ,For that Big central heating plant in your house.

Great idea to suck the fumes from the exhaust straight into your home aye??? Draw the air from the highest point in the home back into the heater and you'll find it'll tick nicely on low setting!
I would punch another hole through your wall for the intake side of the heat exchanger... your method will create a pressure inside of your house and force warm air outside through the cracks in your house... one more hole my man, it will pump out way more heat and save you money at the same time.

Neat job but when you have a power cut the heater will suffer a hard shutdown and possibly catch fire, with the fuel tank above it.

Nice job but better to run it off a 12v battery because it will overheat in a power cut because there will be no cooling down phase.

Should have a setting in controller so when battery reaches a low level it powers down👍

You should really route both pipes inside so you dont have to heat the cold air before blowing it inside. Much more efficient that way.
