Spot on Marie Anne. I am ten years older than you and I feel that I have finally found my style. I love tailored pieces - frills and flounces are just not me. I have more time now than when my children were small and can really enjoy dressing nicely - even if I'm only going shopping! It's never too late to look great 😊
I'm 62 and still re-evaluating my style every year. I noticed that when I wear good quality, well cut clothes, I feel more confident. So I got rid of cheap pieces. Thank you for your advice, you help us so much.
Marie - Anne I just love when you say with such passion in your voice: 'maturity is beautiful, embrace it with style and confidence' ... so inspirational, I really needed to hear it!
Yesterday, I saw a woman in her 50s who looked great. She was wearing jeans, a red and white striped top with a small dangly earring (hair was casually up), an oversized cardigan in a neutral buff colour, carrying a straw bag. Laced up shoes....like a trainer/chunky converse. She had got it spot on, just going food shopping in M&S. Her car was a little fun fiat. She was so natural but very well put together and had a quiet confidence. I love that. Very inspiring.....just like your videos.
Bon jour, Marie-Anne! We are about the same age and I have decided to stop “settling”. I’m tired of looking “basic”. Some would call me “picky”, but I know what I like when I see it.
Hello, my name is Elizabeth and i live in Upstate New York USA. I'm 55yrs old and had open heart surgery last year. Upon advice from my Dr, i had to gain weight. Needless to say, none of my old clothes fit, so I have to buy all new clothes. It's a little tricky finding clothing to fit my new body. I've watched a few of your videos and now I feel like I've had a "how to" on dressing my new body. Thank you and have a nice day. 😊
I love this channel so much. No words can really explain how much it's helped me as a person. I'm over 50. It's because of this Channel that I adopted new ways of dressing that make me feel amazing.❤❤❤❤
What you said about not trying to be perfect really hit home for me. Striving for perfection causes me anguish and the flip side of that is relax, who cares, do nothing. Thanks so much for this. I needed to hear it ❤
I'm 58 and lost a lot of weight. Along the way your videos have helped me build a complete new wardrobe of mostly high quality 2nd hand pieces. You explained well what to look for to find good clothes. Thank you. Overall I'm more stylish now even though I'll soon be 60. So what...
Style forever! I’m 61 and can’t ever imagine not enjoying fashion and style! Among the other usual joys, like looking and feeling great, it’s one of my creative outlets.
I just came back from a shopping trip, and as I walked through the stores I had your voice in my head advising me to choose quality over quantity and to Keep it Simple! I decided not to buy anything because I am Finally (at 59!) learning how to shop wisely, like a French woman, and search for the perfect pieces, instead of “making do”! Merci Marie-Anne!!
Hi Jenny! Good for u! U can venture out 2nd have and/or vintage shopping. So many high quality and well structured pieces at very affordable price. Plus. U get to wear unique pieces.
@@daffidalswuli Thrift stores feature so-called "second-hand" clothes that are more often than not brand-new. People buy clothes, put in closet, and by the time they notice them again they have put on too much weight or lost too much to fit well into the clothes. Sometimes the clothing donated was an unwelcome gift and so was never worn. Very often, depending on how close you are to cities, thrift stores are given whole lots of items from high-end stores who want to clear out unsold clothing to make room in stores for the new season's inventory. Many pieces donated are classic enough in style so that they are never out of style and can be tweaked in many ways. Great video as always! I had a wonderful trip to France with 2 older ladies, my aunt and her best friend. I was intrigued at how charming and attentive people were to them. In America older women become more invisible somehow. It was food for thought, because we should honor older generations. ❤ I loved so much about the French people I met.

Yes, Marie-Anne, i completely agree. I want to maintain my self-respect by not trying to look like a 16 year old since I will just end up looking ridiculous, cheap and desperate. It will definitely not suit me anyway, and I don't want to be an eyesore. Nevertheless, I don't want to look like my great grandmama either, and so I try to be stylish and elegant and agree with and love your tips on dressing and fashion. Thank you so much!
Marie-Anne: thank you for your style advice. As a 71 year old woman, I love classic pieces and especially blazers that can compliment an outfit. Your tips are fantastic and I must say I love being happy in my clothes and feeling confident no matter where I am going or doing.
Hello Vickie May I suggest sillhouettes that suit you, going for things you like and enjoy. My Mom rocks her style which is mainly nicely fitted trousers and blouses or tunics with long cardigans. She loves jewelry so that takes centre-stage. As for make up, she got subtler as the years have gone by. Ma always shops in pairs. If she finds a pair of trousers she likes will immediately look for a coordinating top - blouse or cardigan. Hope that helps.

One of my favorite videos so far! I love, “wear good clothes” ... “your confidence will rise”. Too often people buy cheap trendy clothes, that quickly go out of style, and look dated. Not so with good clothes. Thank you 🙏
Hi Marie- Anne, I’m happy to say I now wearing red lipstick after watching you for the first time and I’m happy to say wearing red lipstick built my confidence I never wear read lipstick together with changing the way I dress myself. I feel like a new person 😊thank you❤
Thank you Marie-Anne for your wisdom: you are totally correct. In the United States we are too obsessed the “sexy” looks. They are anything but sexy ; they reek of vulgarity and bad taste
I had to turn off a program about .... because the woman host had her breasts hanging out. I'm not watching that with my husband! I don't even show that much skin in my own home! It's not feminine at all, it's gross. It's funny, you don't see men showing off their body parts like that, ever! Why do women think is okay? Men know exactly what you're doing, and know you are quite aware that your boobs are hanging out and all you succeed in doing is losing their respect. In my world, respect is EVERYTHING!
Hallelujah sister! What happened to styles that Ginger Rogers, Joan Crawford and Audrey Hepburn wore? Many are classic pieces. Rita Hayworth was sexy but not vulgar. I used to watch the Oscars for the clothes but have been disappointed. Maybe someone someday will bring true class back.
@@noeldeal8087 You are right! Sometimes I try to watch Romanian television shows. All you can see, those low self-esteem women, and and they’re cheap clothes with boobs hanging out, everywhere.
How I laughed about "Miss Marple shoes" !!! I am learning so much about style from you. Loved your suggestions as I am 59 I roll my eyes at the " too young" and "too sexy crowd" - just because you can still fit into those styles does not mean you should wear them. I try to be comfortable and confident in my own skin. Another great video, merci!
I'm loving your tips so very much Madame. In fact I've just bought some navy blue and black striped tops to go with some trousers I already have. I can't wait to wear them. I also am about your age so everything in your channel I feel is applicable to and for me.
Thank you Marie-Anne! Your video is inspiring and uplifting for ladies such as myself who might need help embracing our style as we get a little bit older and staying confident. Your positive and affirming attitude helps you remain youthful. Your videos are always so warm and encouraging. Thank youX
Bonjour Marie-Anne. I turn 60 next week. I am so happy to hear that we are so close in age; it makes me feel that I can trust your style-guiding for me EVEN more now, and I trusted it a lot before. Thank you.
I love her too but mainly her uncanny ability to see what everyone else misses. You can still wear tweed but just add some more Chic to it. I am thinking mainly of Joan Hickson. Are you thinking of Margaret Rutherford? I love how she throws her cape on and exits after challenging the inspector in a game of wits. 💗
Thank you for this video Marie-Anne! I could not agree more with all the mistakes you mentioned, especially looking overly sexy. I think it looks vulgar at any age. I find that I look sexier and more confident now that I am 55 than I ever did. I too love to pair my tweed blazers with jeans, that's one of my favorite combinations. Nothing looks more desperate than a woman trying to look 20 years younger. It's not always easy to grow old as our body goes through so many changes and we have to adjust our style along the way.
I will be 77 in September. Men still notice and it's because I am confident. Last year I was wearing a pair of indian silk print trousers. They were very beautiful full, not "sexy" and a strange man complimented me on them in a store! I never wore them again. I don't need strange men noticing my trousers. Especially in the Middle East where I live. But if they notice my overall look and are appropriate, bring it on. I'm single. ☺
I'm actually in Israel and "classic" isn't really a big style here. Most women go for trends even older ones and I could do a whole sociological study on why but it's irrelevant. Clothes are expensive too although there are some coming in from Italy that are reasonably priced like the linen dress I bought the other day for 50€. It's very simple. It does have a handkerchief hem but the highest part is just below my knees so I can have it modified if I want. I'm an artist so my "style" can be a bit varied. When I went into the store where I got the dress and which is owned by a French woman, btw, I had on a madras patchwork maxi skirt and a plain linen top. And we sort of joked about my preference for variety. I actually got that outfit in Italy a couple of years ago, but it's fine for going out doing errands in the morning. When I go to church I dress more elegantly. I never, ever wear trousers let alone jeans and my hemlines vary but I try to keep it simple. Not easy here.
The best thing that ever happened to me was turning fifty. MY confidence improved yearly. Now at 64 I finally take the time and the trouble to wear the clothes that make me feel beautiful, comfortable and very "Chic" . Your advice and validation is so appreciated.
No dear, nothing to add indeed. These advices are the 10 fulfilling golden rules everyone can follow easily to reach the goal “ Wearing like French chic & stylish lady “. Thank you sweetie
I bought a new dress without realizing it was a little too low-cut for me. I wore it yesterday and felt miserably self-conscious all day, I will have to get it altered. Being petite and short-waisted, but busty, I have this issue a lot, and alter most dresses and tops, but this didn’t seem too bad when I tried it on originally, the straps might have stretched. Still making style boo-boos at my age!
I bought a cute little dress for my brother’s wedding. It also was very spacious at the neckline. It is faced in black so I wore a tight fitting tank under it. It worked…looked like part of the dress…especially in photos.
@@user-sb2wl8zj7f I have quite a few close-fitting sheer tops with long sleeves, some with patterns, to wear underneath other pieces, when I don't want show flesh. It makes an outfit look really modern.
I’ve made all these mistakes and more!! I’m 74 and my goal is to always look clean & neat and pulled together without looking overdone or too casual. I like to blend in with people If I deviate from not following my body shape or height I usually end up donating that item. I’m a petite and short rectangle shape. I’m donating a petite tee shirt dress with thick horizontal stripes because the mirror says it makes me look shorter and wider and I just don’t feel good in it. These are some good tips to follow
thank you Marie-Anne for being the fashion voice of reason. :-) As a "woman of a certain age," I tend to struggle with being a "dedicated follower of fashion" vs dressing for my age or my body type. I would love to dress more French, or work with a "capsule wardrobe," but _mon dieu!_ I'm quite clothes horse, so it's a struggle!
Many of these things that You mention - I asumed myself. Your advices give me confidence and more information than I thaught and that`s why - very important, Thank You! I recognized too late in my life about the importance of good, apropriate looking....Now I am 54 and I am aware of it.
Thank you so much for your advice, I really needed to hear your take on style for women over 50. I have just turned 66 and I love having someone voice so many of the same ideas and goals that I embrace. Much, much appreciated. God bless
One of the finest tips I have learned from you is quality not quantity. With age I have (gratefully) acquired patience and will save to be able to purchase one or two excellent pieces rather than a closet full of cheap articles. Timeless pieces are so much better than fad fashion. Merci beaucoup 🇫🇷
Wearing good quality tailored and well cut clothes feel and look good. Having a good haircut abs colour that flatters your face is also very important. Wearing light makeup is crucial as we are mature . Highlighting our best features.
Very encouraging video Marie-Anne. Thank you so much. When browsing for clothes I often think “would a chic French woman wear this?” Often the answer is - no!! Lucky I prefer a classic look - at one count I had nearly a dozen striped tees 🤣
Bonjour Marie-Anne! Merci!!!! I LOVE this video!! I am so grateful!!! Thank you for all of your hard work, commitment, fabulous attitude and endless energy and passion! :)
Thank you so much Marie-Anne. You put into words what I have always felt. I know when I look great, or not, and my confidence and demeanor reflect it! You have made me more attentive to my wardrobe. Again, merci!
Good job, Marie-Anne. Inspiring women to be confident in their appearance and in their presentation of self is important. You are helping them/us. xxxx
I so much appreciate your content! I would love hear more about addressing confidence, not only in fashion but also in being around others … I’m 65 and have always struggled with self confidence.
Bonjour Shirley - I have done a few videos on the application of French Chic Style to confidence and would love to have done them more regularly but they were never popular - it is a shame as it was what Style works towards 🙏 and the correlation is undoubted 😃
I needed this today. I was feeling that "50+" pull down. This video lifted me up! I am overdue for a style assessment, and couple of new high quality pieces. I am going to upgrade my french chic for August and September! Once again, Merci Marianne!
Great viideo madam....... Just moved to a very large acreage and doing hte garden and of course old clothes become gardening clothes and still enjoy getting dressed oroperly for the rest of the day....... so right about life and style being a journey
I liked your comments about not falling into the trend styles. Just pick something that flatters you, if you do pick a trend. Like the baggy balloon and lantern pants that are trending now. I do not think they are flattering, just make you look sloppy and heavier than you are. Also thanks for reminding us we need to evaluate ourselves from time to time.
Marie-Anne, I love this video and your tip for not trying for perfection really hit home. How do you feel about longer hair on an older woman? Your style looks so carefree and chic, but I'm not sure I could pull it off. Do you have any videos (past, present or future) about hair?
Bonjour Cindy - oooo good question. I have seen some older women with amazing long hair sadly they are the very rare exception. As women age their hair becomes brittle and even thins out (I suffer stress alopecia) so generally I advise older women to have shorter hair to avoid having too much thin, straggly grey hair around their face which does not do them any favours. If your hair is in good condition and thick then go for it 😃
You are such a blessing, Marie-Anne! So many tips and great advice that I had never been given, and am now finding from you! I love your love of life and smile!! Tomorrow I shall begin curating my wardrobe. xoxo

Confidence does play a large part in your appearance and attractive clothes really do help boost your confidence. Thank goodness Marie-Anne that we mature ladies have such a confident and assertive guide in our times of personal confusion!
I guess I've been paying attention, because I already knew most of what you were going to say. 'Dressing for your age' does get a bit trickier, but it doesn't mean you give up on looking good. You're a great teacher, Marie-Anne. Thank you.

Totally agree! We have lost our sense of class: it's best use in appearance & behavior. Oh, beloved America, are you listening?
No style in America.... just T shirts and sweat pants, no elegance!
Now I understand why French women look so good.
🤗
I couldn’t agree more! When I look presentable and well put together, I feel very confident.
Thank you.
I love Mrs Marpel especially her cape.
Wear your cape with jeans voila! Panache
MM is too dowdy...
Every tip is spot-on! Love how you kindly encourage us to grow (in our style) 😊 Merci!
I'm 30 but your advices are just good for any age 🙂 thank you for being so passionate and kind and generous in sharing the wisdom 🧡
Thank you I could not agree more with all of your tips
Bonsoir Marie-Anne, Nothing to add after your 10 wonderful advices. Merci beaucoup!
No dear, nothing to add indeed. These advices are the 10 fulfilling golden rules everyone can follow easily to reach the goal “ Wearing like French chic & stylish lady “. Thank you sweetie
I love what you said - don't look like you are chasing your youth!! That's so true. And then the opposite - dressing too old - tweed!! 😄
It seems like common sense - you state it perfectly. Your skin is perfection. You are style personified.
Have you tried a camisole with lace across the top? They are designed for just those situations.
I bought a cute little dress for my brother’s wedding. It also was very spacious at the neckline. It is faced in black so I wore a tight fitting tank under it. It worked…looked like part of the dress…especially in photos.
for me, showing lace camisoles feel like the same as showing my bra, plain tank works for me too

I have quite a few close-fitting sheer tops with long sleeves, some with patterns, to wear underneath other pieces, when I don't want show flesh. It makes an outfit look really modern.
@@edennis8578 I have exactly the same problem and often but a camisole underneath a low neckline- it’s transforming!
God bless
Excellent advice and needed encouragement!! Bravo!
I am 63, and learning how to style so IT fitts my age, and thank you for All your advises ❤️🌷🌿
I am a person of few words. This video deserves only one. "Fabulous"
Love that “ not over the hill”!
You are a fashion Angel!! Thank you! xx
I love listening to you Marie-Anne. You epitomise French charm and style. Merci tres beaucoup
You make me feel 👗👠🕶🌹proud to be french LOL! Thank you for all the detailed tips!
Wise words from a very wise lady. Thank you Marie Anne
Time to curate my closets! Great advice.
While I was enjoying your advice, my husband was laughing at your humor. We both are over 60 and liking your videos. Thank you!
Very encouraging video Marie-Anne. Thank you so much. When browsing for clothes I often think “would a chic French woman wear this?”
Often the answer is - no!! Lucky I prefer a classic look - at one count I had nearly a dozen striped tees 🤣
Thank you for everyday sensibility for women of all ages.
That is wonderful to hear Linda 😃👏
Hello, Marie-Anne, it is always a treat to see your videos--you are so helpful & encouraging!
Thank you for this excellent list!
🙏🍀🌷🍀😊💙😘🍀🌷🍀🙏
Good job, Marie-Anne. Inspiring women to be confident in their appearance and in their presentation of self is important. You are helping them/us. xxxx
I so much appreciate your content! I would love hear more about addressing confidence, not only in fashion but also in being around others … I’m 65 and have always struggled with self confidence.
Bonjour Shirley - I have done a few videos on the application of French Chic Style to confidence and would love to have done them more regularly but they were never popular - it is a shame as it was what Style works towards 🙏 and the correlation is undoubted 😃
Thank you for tip on confidence..I so needed it .Bless you....Carmel
oh dear - Marie-Anne I wish I had found your videos sooner: I have a lot of patterned midi dresses that are now headed for the charity shop!
Great advice, Marie-Anne. Thank you.
I needed this today. I was feeling that "50+" pull down. This video lifted me up! I am overdue for a style assessment, and couple of new high quality pieces. I am going to upgrade my french chic for August and September! Once again, Merci Marianne!
I love these suggestions!
Thank You! Great Advise...
I just started watching your videos. I adore you. 😊
Consistently excellent advice that works.
Excellente vidéo Marie-Anne , comme toujours!
Tomorrow I shall begin curating my wardrobe. xoxo
Bonjour Marie-Anne!! I've been wanting a navy blue blazer for months now and having decided NOT to settle for anything, I waited for just the right one to come along. Well, this morning after stopping in at my favorite consignment shop I found THE blazer!! Nice and simple J Crew blazer! It will go with so many other items I have picked up since watching your channel (and others). It's just too darn hot right now to wear it!! Really enjoyed this video!! Merci!!!!
I have recently found your channel and I love it, great content and well elaborated. Thank you.
Thanks for the upbeat video .
Marie-Ann xxx wonderful video...thank you for sharingxxx
Own your confidence and style. Exactly what I needed in this moment. Je fait le point et je suis au point. Merci beaucoup 💜
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 you are so funny, but I recognize my mistakes in dressing. You inspired me to look at my wardrobe thru fresh eyes and update.
Very good advice
Thank you Marie-Anne
I’m turning 53 on July 14, Bastille Day and no, no, no I don’t want to make any fashion mistakes.
A great video xxx❤️❤️❤️
@@MarieAnneLecoeur Thank you so much 😊🎈🎈🎈🎈🍷🍷
@@MarieAnneLecoeur Thank you, you always make my day. Sydney is in lockdown and I’m so grateful for your videos. I love them all and I love you! Thank you again xxxx 💐💐💐
Well said Marie-Anne, all good advice thank you !
I think these advices are very useful for all of ages. Thank you for your videos, i am very happy that i discovered this channel.
I've been working on my style thanks to your videos. I watched you for months and months before starting to do anything about it. I had gained weight and developed the habit of just wearing leggings or jeans with baggy top unless I had date or speaking engagement. I didn't want to buy new clothes until I lost the weight but in doing so I looked not my best at all. I am so grateful for your videos. I'm also thankful for your courses and your style subscription. I love your Style Journal and the book I ordered called How to Be Chic & Elegant. Thank you Marie-Anne!!!!
Bonjour! So many of these comments are for ladies of all ages...I am in my early 40s, and love these (and your chanel). Merci, Marie-Anne!
Very good vlog Marie-Anne, thank you. I try to follow your tips all the time and these are particularly essential...The 10 commandments of style.
Lovely Marie Anne....so helpfulxxx thank youxxx
What we all need to aim for as women I believe, is to be the "Best possible version of ourselves!" Confidence does play a large part in your appearance and attractive clothes really do help boost your confidence. Thank goodness Marie-Anne that we mature ladies have such a confident and assertive guide in our times of personal confusion!
My exact mission Ms M 😃 😘
I guess I've been paying attention, because I already knew most of what you were going to say. 'Dressing for your age' does get a bit trickier, but it doesn't mean you give up on looking good. You're a great teacher, Marie-Anne. Thank you.
