The grey hair Is no longer something to hide Many women are very proud of these bright silver strands and the hair looks healthier because it's no longer painted
I agree, however it is also important to remember that not everyone suits grey hair so dye shaming is also not good. Let’s support all women in their individual choices ☺️
I started letting my beautiful silver shine about four years ago...and it's long😊😊 I get so many compliments ❣️ I, in turn, always encourage and lift up those ladies bold enough to embrace their their wisdom highlights 😁😁
No one ever commented on my hair when it was long and dyed. But since I embraced my natural grey and got a pixie cut I've received loads of compliments! If you pair short grey hair with more youthful or even edgier pieces like the moto jacket it works much better than going the baggy trousers & cardigan route.
my sister 65 recently stopped dying her hair for the first time in 30 years and had it cut short ,looks a lot better to my surprise. No more chasing my own tail she said
I live in a gated community for those 55+. Although I agree with you that masculine type clothes can add a touch of modern, the problem I've noticed here where I live is that the women dress in such a head-to-toe masculine way that it not only ages them but makes them look almost indistinguishable from their husbands. I dress in the opposite way with slimming feminine dresses, heeled shoes/boots, shoulder length hair, and well-applied makeup. It's then not surprising that I get comments from the women here that I'm too young to be living in their community and to come back in twenty years. I think the secret is to dress more feminine as you age and to add just a touch of masculine like that lovely leather jacket you showed-which I have too, of course! Thank you as always for your excellent channel.
I agree with everything you said except for the hair. I am 70 and my hair is very long and I love it. I get so many compliments and would never have it cut. Your style is spot on. Thanks for a great video
I think your ideas are marvelous - with one exception: I have long, white hair and it suits me well. When my hair was short I looked 10 years older! But I think it's an individual call. I also love to wear button down, masculine shirts. I have a big bust and try to minimize it just a little so men actually look into my eyes instead of at my chest. BTW, I just purchased a moto jacket in darkish blue. Love it! Thank you so much for your wonderful videos.
My belief is that it is all in the cut, and a great stylist is pure gold. It is easy to frame the face without compromising too much of the length. Gaging from your profile photo, I think your face would look lovely framed by your hair, and you wouldn’t have to compromise on the length to get that effect. I will send great thoughts and vibes that you will find an amazing stylist if and/or when you decide to take the leap. ❤️❤️❤️
I remember my mum and my nan having their hair coloured - it was like a helmet with no natural difference of nuance. I sweared I would never do that, and I haven't. I love my grey hair - still with a lot of my natural brown (but getting less with time). The colour doesn't seem to age me, but that may be down to the cut, and that I've switched up my make-up.
@Annike deGroot, Me too. Although my hair is still dark (I have a few strands of grey appearing here and there), even when I wear my hair up, everyone comments on how much it ages me, including my son who is brutal with his honesty. So much depends on how well we take care of our hair - regular visits to have it trimmed and using good products to clean and nourish our hair.
I am 73 and I let my grey hair grow out during Covid lockdown. I love the freedom of not dying my hair. My hair is just touching my shoulder and I can wear it up or down and is very helpful when exercising or cooking. It has long layers that keep it from being drawn down around my face. My biggest problem with lighter hair is my dark brown eyes look intense. My dark hair balanced the color. Thanks for the youthful tips. I love a pop of color in my handbags. I get more compliments on them than my expensive jewelry. I change my bags frequently and carry minimal things.
Dear Ms. Lecouer: The black, leather jacket is very modern and youthful and looks amazing on you. I love the touch of the unexpected (socks) to boost the mood. As for hair, if one has a youthful face, then she can still wear her hair long and it looks great. But with a lot of wrinkles and sagging skin, the long hair does age the face; you are absolutely correct. I like the idea of wearing jeans that are flattering (not baggy); they really do add a youthful touch. Thank you for these tips! Natalia Arizona
Marie-Anne, thank you so much. I was wearing exactly what you described at the beginning of you video: a baggy sweater, loose jeans and a pair of beat up running shoes. My hair is in a ponytail and I haven't washed it in over 2 weeks. The greys are growing like weeds. I suppose it's time to start taking care of myself. Thank you Marie-Anne. You are so classic and beautiful.
Definitely time to pamper yourself a little bit...I suspect that you more than deserve it! Maybe paint your finger and/or toenails, too...that always feels special!
@@MarieAnneLecoeur I am very touched by yours and Mikel's support and encouragement, Marie-Anne. Thank you so much. I will keep you updated on my progress. I am making an appointment to have my hair cut next week. I want a cut just like yours, Marie-Anne. God bless you. Your channel is amazing.
Marie Anne: I’m glad you’re feeling better. European women tend to cut their hair short as the American women tend to have it bit longer hair. I think as we age we can wear it longer as long as its taken care of it, also depends on each person. I have a lots of hair very full and looks good on me, it’s little over the shoulder and I keep it well styled . I always ask my daughter and she assures me that it’s okay I look good 😊 she tells me shorter hair on me makes me look older. I do dress stylish as you’re showing in the video and that helps too.
I loved this video. You are full of great tips, Marie-Anne and you look very chic but your little Coco stole the show! I love seeing your dogs (or horses). ❤️
thankyou so much. This is one of the best fashion videos I have seen. I am 64, but people always think I am younger, fortunately. My day to day look is .jeans and tee shirt, but I will try the stripey man look now. I love wearing my motorbike jacket, but things I will look out for are the lovely little bags you mentioned and the socks. Great ideas. I love living in France as well x
Thank you Marie Anne. I have been considering a moto jacket but thought at 71 I might be too old. I now plan to try some on, and see if the style suits me.
Great video. I like what you said about thinking younger. I find now that I am over 50, that there is a sense of freedom in what I wear and how I look. I dress for me and that is liberating, which in turn, makes me feel carefree and young.
Me, too, turning 60 especially was very liberating! I now wear what I always loved, classics, after 20 years of trying to fit into the local boho mold.
Great advice, as always. Most of all, your videos are inspiring, keeping me abreast of what is classic and interesting. Grazie from your admirer living in Italy. Proving, French Chic is universal.

I absolutely agree with all of your tips ESPECIALLY the last one. One of my favorite young at heart people who always looked far younger than her years, said we may have to get old but we don’t have to BE old. ❤️
I have a pixie cut which is way shorter than yours, I look awful with long hair. However I have wigs, short medium even long, I wear tailored clothes and have never worn flowery or girly stuff. I came out of jeans but you have convinced me to go back with them.
Such great tips! I can never go grey given my fine, thin, hair. But am envious of those women with the longer, thick, silvery grey hair! I’ve found that embracing my curly hair, and keeping it shoulder length, has had a youthful effect. Love the socks and of course your sweet dog!
Thank you, Marie-Anne for your lovely and uplifting video. I am tall and just 60, and have been blessed with fine, thick long hair, which still suits me, down to my elbow. I keep my hair and skin in peak condition. I wear it up and down with Italian hair clips or slides. It does not suit me short at all! I think each woman is unique and her own person. I love your guidance. This is how I was brought up by my Mother and wonderful Grandmother. Wonderful!
Thank you, Marie-Anne, for such wonderful tips. I want you to know that I returned to a shorter pixie hairstyle in part by how chic you look in yours. Your last tip, "think young" really is a great one...I honestly don't know if some ladies even know how, I see so many frowns on ladies in their 50s, 60s, and beyond. May I add that smiling makes a woman of any age look younger. Also, the way a woman carries herself with her posture, which if it's slouchy, etc., it can make her look very old. I saw a couple of ladies (i'm guessing) younger than I am, and they were both walking slumped, heads hung low, and shuffling their feet with sour looks on their faces (they might have been related, come to think of it, their walking style was so similar), and they both looked SO old! I hope someday they find your TH-cam channel. Thanks again for sending some French Chic to me here in Connecticut, USA!

Bonjour Marie-Anne I love these tips! I like to cut my hair about chin length, I feel when it gets longer than that I look 10 year’s older, and I want to look younger and vibrant. In addition to the tips you shared I like hats and headbands to add pops of color. I’ve been stocking up on my leather jackets, jeans and fun sneakers. Love patterned socks and fun bags. Thank you for sharing your smiles and beautiful views.
This is Brilliant Marie- Anne, merci. I’ve always had long hair, recently went to Hairdresser here in Charente , asked her to cut it to shoulder length. Looks so much better. My hair has always been extremely straight , but now it has a Lovely wave to it. Happy Happy Happy 😘💜🇫🇷
True , Marie-Anne, I went out last Saturday night and I wore my black leather jacket over a floral dress with frous-frous and black high heels boots naturally and spontaneously. I just turned 54 and like you, MarieAnne, all French made !!!!😉🇫🇷♥️
Bon soir Marie-Anne, yes, yes, yes! There is no reason to hide when you are over 50. I am still 56 but in my head I don't feel like that. So why should I look old? No! I have a good hairdresser, very important, my hair is much shorter now and I love it. I watch your videos and get encouraged to move forward on this way. Thanks Marie-Anne 🙂🙋♀️
Just what I needed was this video. Think younger yes - I need to think younger. I look younger than what I am but lately I feel old and feel my age. You are right jeans and a leather jacket does look younger. I wore a Royal blue leather jacket with jeans and it looked great. All I need now is to get my head to feel younger.
Interesting about the hair. At Christmas I cut my collarbone length hair to just below my ears. My girlfriends and I loved it, but the best comment I ever received from any of the men (including my husband) was, "it's your hair but I liked it better long." I'm trying a shag as a compromise--longer in the back, shorter around the face. And I absolutely love how easy it is to style!
Like the moto jackets. They perk up an outfit and modernize it. I love a good coat or jacket that is stylish and looks smart. My mother wore her jeans (skinny Liverpool’s) in her 90’s. You have lots of good ideas. My Covid hair is longer but I had a pixie for years and will go back to short hair soon. I have great boots and socks that are fun! I live in a cool climate so bare feet in boots are not sensible or comfortable! I am 66 and often people are surprised at my age. I have a decent skincare routine and tend to smile whenever I can. Good tips, as always! Thank you! Enjoy your videos!
Your fashion tips brought to mind Robert Browning's lines "Grow old with me the best is yet to come." French & English a perfect marriage n'est-ce pas ?
Well done, Marie-Anne! I agree with you on all points. I'm 59 and I love traditional dressing, but I'm starved for color, so I added some to my wardrobe and I love it. I'd also add another tip to your list. Good posture! Good posture can take years off your age, in my opinion.
What about a stunning scarf? Very French and you'll DEFINITELY get color with it. You can find very nice used Hermès or Ferragamo scarves on eBay in perfect condition. But look out for the Chinese seller that sells them cheap but in bad shape (yuck)
Your tips are marvelous! For me, jeans are everything, youthful, classic, tailored, a bit masculine, a bit dressed up, a bit dressed down, very rock and roll, and completely sexy! Thank you for giving us styling ideas that are accessible and that instantly boost one's style. I would love to see a video from you on attitude behind the look, or on how to pull your look off and make things work in French chic way!

Gracias Marie Anne por este hermoso video!
Your fashion tips brought to mind Robert Browning's lines "Grow old with me the best is yet to come." French & English a perfect marriage n'est-ce pas ?
Good to see you back!! I enjoyed the video.
Great tips, Marie-Anne! Thank you for sharing. You are always on target! 👍
Thanks for validating all the ways of looking younger I have been doing for the past few years, without being French 😜☺️
Love this video 💞. Lots of helpful tips!! I’m glad you’re feeling better Marie Anne You look wonderful. Your little dog is so adorable ☺️
Well done, Marie-Anne! I agree with you on all points. I'm 59 and I love traditional dressing, but I'm starved for color, so I added some to my wardrobe and I love it. I'd also add another tip to your list. Good posture! Good posture can take years off your age, in my opinion.
I think good posture is most important. It transforms you. Then, it doesn’t matter how you dress but how you carry yourself, sit, walk
What about a stunning scarf? Very French and you'll DEFINITELY get color with it.
You can find very nice used Hermès or Ferragamo scarves on eBay in perfect condition. But look out for the Chinese seller that sells them cheap but in bad shape (yuck)
poor posture is more aging than any clothes.
Thank you very good video 😍
LOVE YOUR ATTITUDE!

Thank you !
Missed you! Love the new video.
I am glad you are feeling better, Marie-Anne. Thank you for this video, I am closer to 50 than 40 so I will be sure to take this on board xx
I love you show!
Happy yo see you recovered. The dog seems to love your socas 😘😘
@@MarieAnneLecoeur I wrote socks, sorry my corrector has got its own meaning 🤣
One of my favorite looks is a Moto jacket with a pleated midi shirt and slimline sneakers; but I still love my cardigans- either oversized or cropped.
I just love these videos !
You’ve brightened my day. Thank you.
