this song has only been performed once at Tokyo Dome 2016. The One, the song for the fans was actually part of this song but they seperated them into two. the piano you hear is leading into The One. love this song and how they did choreography for this.

Fans who came out of the concert said excitedly: "I can't believe they actually performed "Tales of the Destinies". There was a prelude before the performance. I was stunned. I couldn't believe that they actually performed this song. How is that possible! It's crazy how they could perform this song and they actually did it, it's unbelievable."

BABYMETAL just take everything that‘s great about Dream Theater and add another level of insanity by dancing to it. Mindboggling!

They (the girls and the musicians altogether) will have my lifelong worship for this particular performance alone!

These girls can dance to anything :)
By the way, Suzuka said in an interview that before the beginning of this song, everyone was very nervous.
Because the song is actually very difficult. And everyone was afraid to mess up.
She said that it was difficult for her to sing this song, and the choreography is very intricate.
She didn't talk about the musicians, but I think it was difficult for them too.

Su-metal mentioned in an interview: at the start of the performance of the Tales of the Destinies her in-ear-monitor didn't work (received no sound).
which makes this performance even more impressive.

Pulling this song off live at Tokyo Dome with only two guitarists still blows my mind.
A few changes, but it still sounds a lot like the studio track.
I grew up with early Pink Floyd, King Crimson, ELP and experimental electronic music.
So I was very ready for this one when the 'Metal Resistance album dropped in 2016.
Definitely a Dream Theater feel in this one.
'Images and Words' is one of BABYMETAL producer Koba's favorite albums.
Here's what he said about the development of 'Tales of the Destinies':
"Upon opening the World map of Metal music, this song as well really made me stop and consider how are we going to deal with the genre of Progressive Metal represented by such bands that I love such much like Dream Theater.
It took about 2 or 3 years to put it into the form that it is in now.
As you can imagine, there were a multitude of hardships to overcome to do so.
That goes for the performance side of it as well and we had to put it through countless, repeated changes to its arrangement to finally get it where it is now.".
Both the girls and the Kami Band did an amazing job especially considering the complexity this song has.
The Tokyo Dome Red Night concert is the only time that 'Tales of the Destinies' has been performed live.

    only once in life.
Same here with the sensations, and that is why this presentation is valued so much the level of difficulty and the perfectionism with which they played it was simply unique.
For me this is the best ending of concert of babymetal with this two song- Tales of the Destinies and The one

This is my favourite BM song and I hope they do more "prog rock", but I think this might be a one off given the direction they took on the last CD, Metal Galaxy. Maybe it helps to have grown up listening to Yes and Tangerine Dream to really revel in this song. I bought the Tokyo Dome DVD (Delorean) just for this and the bridge into "The One" which is a companion piece and the performance is incredibly emotional. The rest of the concert is awesome, but this is the only live performance of "Tales of The Destinies" and it's the height of Kobametal's art/artifice/showing off/seeing what he can get away with etc. It's very obviously a homage to Dream Theater, "The Dance of Eternity", even the two titles echo one another. This could have been a complete disaster but Babymetal bring their unique singing and dancing talents to the song and the Kami Band are fantastic...as they always are. To so obviously reference another awesome piece of music and yet still be different and brilliant on its own takes a lot of skill...and either guts or hubris. I love the way the ending resolves from the prog metal madness into a beautifully lyrical piano solo. In the song's quoting of other pieces of music and it's weaving together of seemingly disparate themes, styles and tempos it reminds me of modernist poetry like "The Wasteland" and it got me to listen to Dream Theater and to revisit Yes, "Close to the Edge". Kobametal/BM are up there with these great pieces of art with their first two albums...IMO.

GREAT REACTION! This song was influenced by the band, Dream Theater, since Kobametal, BABYMETAL's producer, is a big Dream Theater fan. Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater said he was "BLOWN away" when he heard this song. 🤘🦊🤘

This is just epic! To pull this song off live is a testament to just how good BABYMETAL and the Kami's are... For me, this is one of many reasons why this is my favourite Kami Band line-up... Mikio, Takayoshi, Boh, and Hideki... Their chemistry is just special. Thank you for the reaction. 🦊🤘🔥🖤

Did you take a look at the Kami Band? Usually they like to goof a bit around, make faces and throw fists in the air, jumping a bit and entertaining the crowd... In this song, they were so focused on the instrument that they hardly even got their heads up from their instrument! Expecially the guitarist on the right, Mikio! You could see him with his head lowered during all this song!!

Glad you finally worked your way to Tales of the Destinies, it is one of my favourite Babymetal songs. Great reaction to the song. The version of The One after this song is pretty awesome with all the lights in the stadium.

  • @athlonen
    @athlonen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Couple of things about this. First, Tokyo Dome is one of the biggest indoor stadiums/arenas in the world. You can fit 50000 seats/people in there. Babymetal sold out Tokyo Dome their first night that they had to add a second night, and sold that out as well. So in 2 days, they played to 100,000 people.
Second, yes, this was live. They only played this song once; as noted Mikio was playing in this, as well as Yui-metal, and this is a hard song to play, let alone choreograph. But making it even more amazing is that Su-Metal lost her in-ear monitors before this song, so she had no click track or anything in her ear to go off of, and she still pulled it off. Su wants to play this again, but I don’t know if any other guitar duo outside of Ohmura and Mikio can do it.

I admit I'm not too used to prog metal and I was like WTF the first time (and the second...) I listened to it. But watching this performance on BD was an experience and made me appreciate way more the song. To the point this unique performance followed by "The ONE" is one of my favorite BABYMETAL moments and I like to revisit it quite often :)

Nice. I could be way off, but I think I read there were 40-45 transitions in this song. Check out Emerson, Lake, & Palmer, a prog group from the 70's. One of my most vivid concert memories was watching the very talented Keith Emerson treat his multiple keyboards like they were bmx bikes or like he was parkour training. He was wild & athletic, & even if you weren't into prog you couldn't look away.
    Arigatou! 🦊🤘 #notacult

@@jamesmcclung153 James, I've seen innumerable concerts on every level, of every genre, in every type of venue. But seeing Keith Emerson literally strong arming his keyboards like he was in a battle to the death left an indelible image on my psyche. He of course also caressed those keyboards at times with great tenderness. A tremendous performer!

I was there and I witnessed SU 's voice cracked as she tried to hit the high note at 4:45, and it's re-recorded and fixed (it was the first and the last time I saw her voice cracked in wrong way), but it is the only part they had to "fix". At 6:49 she put the words at wrong timings, apparently in not-so-cool way, but they decided not to fix it and leave it as it originally was.

Although I get the concept behind it, I just could not stand the dynamic of watching someone walking on a treadmill while making a video.

I am sure that the sound was post-processed for the Blue-ray but that doesn’t take anything away from the insanity of this performance. I still don’t understand how you can even dance to a song with that many time and key changes and still be on point. That just shows once again what professionals the girls and the Kamis are. Btw “The One” is the song dedicated to the fans and it was played right next at the Tokyo Dome show. Su once said in an interview that she wasn’t 100% happy with their performance of TOTD but unfortunately the song was never performed live again :( and I still think it was an incredible performance. And yes, 55.000 fans went nuts throughout the whole show xd, not just for this song. Miss your treadmill, Sebs!
