Tatoruzu- in for saving my wallet a couple bucks. It'd be great if this story could actually explore the depth that's here- there's a lot of it. Why don't the mutants get to be treated as individuals? Some absolutely would want to go back to their human lives, others may have adjusted really well and found they like their new bodies. Why don't they get the option? Being a mutant would come with advantages based on the species you were turned into...as well as disadvantages. An elephant might be strong and big and loud- able to get tons of physical labor done. But that physical output needs to be fed. Elephants need A LOT of food. What are grocery bills going to look like for them? How has their bodies nutritional needs changed- can they source what they need. Same with Rhinos. Rhinos have infamously bad eye sight, they would be literal bulls in the China shop. Not every mutation is going to get the best of both worlds. If you're a frog mutant, you can see well, you can jump far, you can climb- but your skin is so sensitive that you're now prone to infection. You need more heat and moisture to keep yourself healthy. Your heating bill is going up, and what are you going to do when you need to leave home for long periods of time? It's not just going to be koombiya for mutants- and that is fantastic for story telling. With humans, sure, some are going to be aggressive assholes just for the sake of it and may be jealous. Maybe they want to feel superior to SOMEONE, so they are going to put down and rob the mutants of their personhood. But all humans? Some are now supporting their mutant family members new physical needs, some of them are genuinely being out performed at work, some of them have a mutant friend, or they've been listening closely to the situation and would have concerns for everybody. Only writing from one sociopolitical view point is not the point of stories. The point of stories is to explore PEOPLE. We are faceted beings, not all are monsters, not all are saints- most of us are a mix of good and bad view points. And on a lesser note- C'MON! Did we have to make Jennika the nightwatcher? It couldn't be someone else we haven't met? He was so badass in to 2007 movie, one of the best parts! Can't we still have that? (Can a pig be considered obese in normal cases? Their biological proclivity is to be fatter and stronger...Maybe she was obese as a human, but as a mutant is a healthy weight?)
In the 2007 movie, it made sense for why Raphael adopted the Nightwatcher character. Her becoming the Nightwatcher is unnecessary considering she could've gone hunting as her normal self
The writer wanted to push an idea so hard that he forgot the world he was writing a comic about is about humans who got turned into animal hybrids against their will. When it comes to matters like this, the writer usually gets the benefit of the doubt, and is coheres into going along with the writers scenario. The problem is there are people who resist the voluntary hypnosis of the writer and look at the situation presented to them objectively. Then they noticed how messed up the narrative is.
It's a shame that Jenika is just a walking alogory for socal politics rather then just being a cool addition to the IDW TMNT verse, she quickly became a polorizing character, no ninja action, no mystical ,Sci-fi adventure. Just socal comentary of bigoty and boring drama, Monalisa is boring and all the potental of Jen,Lita and Monalisa is just wasted and slowed the story way down. It's a crying shame.
These recent stories make TMNT feel too much like X men (as a few have already said), and I don't really read much of X men either. TMNT is a fun concept about four mutated turtles with ninja training from a parental rat who take on various ninja, mutant, and sci fi threats while realizing that they don't need recognition nor acceptance from other people because they aren't really superheroes or anything in that category. Your channel is pretty good and I would like to know your opinions on the Last Ronin series since it is one of my absolute favorite comics so far
Man they’re just letting anybody write media now. There’s no subtlety or nuance in these pieces at all. I hate all this everybody’s a mutant shit, but if it’s there already, it’s a rich ground to tell stories with a socio-political backdrop. Like it could be so much more. I remember watching a video from one of those entertainment youtubers who has now fallen off. He was praising the fact that the DC comics Universe diverged from goings on in the real world, so you can tell really interesting stories like when luthor was president. I am thinking honestly this kind of very basic approach of story strictly as allegory is what happens when you assimilate complex philosophies exclusively through youtube and audiobooks, without devoting time to actual reading and study, another product of a chronically online person. You’re right the art is definitely ok. I realize I wasn’t being objective in my last comment on your previous video; I only dislike when you’re shitting on what I perceive as OG stuff, which wouldn’t be fair (if you purely glazed the older stuff) I guess. I wouldnt be so down on this if it was even Jennika's pig lesbian gf. It makes NO SENSE for Jennika to adopt a costume & secret identity when she's already known to everyone in Mutant Town & beyond. It makes the whole book just seem like a Trojan horse for more Jennika trash. They should demutate her back into the original Foot assassin character and sometime Casey Jones love interest that I actually liked. Also, if I wanted to read cape shit I would read shitty Marvel & DC comics.

Even if they would have removed the messaging i would have dropped it with her in it. That character needs to go away and never come back. They may have got $ out of me this time but i didn't order the 2nd.
You know one of the reasons why I hate the culture war so much? It's not because of the anti-woke grifters (though they ARE one big part of the problem), but because the other side often turns certain escapist works into outlets to virtue signal for their politics, so they can deliberately enable said grifters and thus give these writers the motivation to keep doing it. What? Just my opinion.

Sophie Campbell wrote a lot of bad issues, introduced a lot of bad or unnecessary characters, produced a lot of cringe slop, and peppered their stories with LGBT and far-left allegories. However, what Sophie Campbell never did was create a single issue in which the ENTIRE CONTENTS of the issue was communist rhetoric and implicit anti-white racism. But that's how I view this issue.
