    I frequently travel between Westchester county NY and Warren County, NY (about 40 mins north of Saratoga). I’ve had a MYLR for over 2 years and almost 50k miles. It’s the absolute perfect road trip vehicle for this ~200 mile distance. I always take the Taconic when possible, a little slower speed but almost never ever traffic. Saratoga is awesome. Free parking garages with free L2 chargers right behind the main strip.

    With the cleared out model 3 LFPs with the tax credit plus it now is cheap enough to qualify for the WA credit (~2k), below 30k before tax. Amazing. Never thought my wife would be that interested, after a poor experience shopping some new Toyotas with some decent markup and "non-negotiable" dealer add-ons she test drove a Y and is getting one. MYLR, blue/black, just have to wait.

I was at a dinner this week with a lot of people working in tech, and I was surprised to hear that they didn't believe me when I said that I would have zero worries about charging going from Oslo, Norway to Barcelona Spain in my Tesla. it is strange. If Tesla ever were to make ADs, the charging infrastructure is still a selling point even though us Tesla drivers already knows this.

    I just drove 40 minutes from a car show to home in my 23-M3 LFP, and pulled in the driveway showing 198 Wh/mile (5.05 miles per kWh). Thanks to Los Angeles traffic, my speed average was probably 50 mph, but note that I have the 19" sport wheels @ 41 PSI (cold) and the air running at 68 degrees. These cars can be crazy efficient. Also, LFP batter is 60.5 kWh, but usable is about 57.5 kWh.

    • @leanderzulu3494
      @leanderzulu3494 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's insanely efficient. My 2023 MYLR is at 303 Wh/mi over 9000 miles. Granted it's really hot here in Miami and we need AC year round. Plus do quite a bit of highway driving. Speeds above 55-60mph most drives. I also have the 20 inch inductions because they're just the best looking wheels Tesla makes

    • @Techridr
      @Techridr ปีที่แล้ว

      @@leanderzulu3494 Yeah, efficient for sure. I don't usually get this crazy good numbers. But it's fairly regular that I'm in the 225-235 area. I have 18" standard wheels and tires (aero) in the garage. Since I'm crossing the country soon, I will probably put those on for more efficiency and most of all, a slightly softer ride. The 19s are definitely harsher. No way could I do your 20s

    Hi please advice me on Model 3 Perf or LR or Model Y Perf or LR. Which model has the better battery? I drive 25k a year mainly myself. I was aiming for M3P, but test drove the MYP, it has 21 in tires and the body is 3 in wider, which is better for handling. I could get any of those models.

    • @johnross6314
      @johnross6314 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have 2022 model Y P. I also have good experience with the Model Y LR (non iron phosphate batteries). The normal LR has a $2k motor upgrade that gets closer to the P model acceleration. However, the P is still better. I think the Long Range with 19” or 20” turbines will work good for your handling requirements. Still handles mostly like a go cart around corners. Feels smaller than it is. 19” will get you about 330 mile range. It has a smoother ride than the P version. If I was not so fixated on getting the best/fastest, most sporty handling, the LR with the added acceleration kick option would be great. I do not regret choosing the Y P. Loaded it up with every option. Including factory hitch. Pulls the Baja (boat) extremely well. Solid, fast, excellent handling with the boat behind. Of course range goes way down. Used it for medium distance to/from. Had enough range, no problem.
      Your call…. Either are great choices. Your wife may slightly prefer the better ride of the LR. Also, there is a Y LR with the 4680 batteries. Less range. Slight lower cost. The AWD on all models I have spoken about is just perfect. I would not be afraid of a RWD version. Currently inventory model Ys have bit of discount. Oh, FSB beta is killer good. Try it paying by the month. Do not have to buy now. These have the best seats around. Wife and I agree on this too. Amazing cool features. Once you go Tesla, you will not go back to ICE. Hope this helps.

    My wife and I would like to buy an electric vehicle for our next car. But, when we went to a Tesla center and she got behind the wheel of a car with no driver information in front of her and no intuitive buttons or switches for common driving operations she had no interest.
    Since you have owned Teslas and a Lucid Air, perhaps you could film a segment for newbies to ev's showing how much of computer usage is presetting information and then how much is just like driving a gas engine car. Or something like that for someone with a lot of questions on what computer skills are required of a new driver.

    The Battle of Saratoga led to the surrender of an entire British Army. It gave Benjamin Franklin the credibility he needed to convince the French to enter the war. And that led to a French Army and George Washington surrounding the British at York Town, the surrender of another British Army, and the end of the American Revolution. Fun fact; Horatio Gates, American commander at Saratoga, is considered by many to be an incompetent and that credit for the victory should go to his next in command, Benedict Arnold. If Benedict Arnold had not tried to betray the American effort, his image would probably be on our currency just like George Washington's is.

      We are researching how Tesla is able to do this and will make a video for OOS Guide on this topic soon. Thanks for watching!

      Reddit had some theories on that. Basically claiming because the steel for the pack's and the electronics and the assembly is all U.S. based.
      Tesla can do a mix of model 3s on the same line for a set time using both U.S. sourced Panasonic cells&catl lfps.
      But still legally earn the full tax credits at least until Jan 1st 2024 when China is fully excluded as a country of concern.
      It's making me wonder if Ford will follow suit on the new mach e catl pack's? Also the lightning is supposed to get a base lfp pack in the fall. 🤔

    Care to comment on the number of "phantom breaking" episodes you have had with this car so far? Frankly this scares the crap out of me and it seems ridiculous that Tesla can't seem to solve this problem that doesn't seem to exist with other automaker's autopilot like systems.

      Not one phantom braking incident in almost 5k miles with this car!

      I want to buy a M3, but this concerns me especially living in a sunny stat (AZ) where it supposedly happens more often. Do you have any understanding about whether Tesla has resolved this of late?

      When using autopilot or cruise control on the highway or motorway u have to learn to adapt and change the way you drive.This is only a suggestion but it works well for me reducing my stress levels
      When driving with cruise control or autopilot on i always leave my foot resting on the accelerator pedal…if i feel any sudden or unexpected braking i respond immediately by pushing lightly down on the accelerator pedal with my foot this action automatically cancels the braking@ the vehicle will maintain its speed ..if there are any cars following too close behind you this will minimize the risk of being rear ended by them
      Driving like this allows u2 to focus on wots in front of u ur not worried bout cars behind u
      After driving for a while u get to understand in certain situations why autopilot responds the way it does
      If u see situations devoloping where it may struggle simply turn off autopilot and manually drive the vehicle youself like a normal petrol car

      @@horoh1 It just seems to me that one should not have to compensate for a vehicle's deficiency by keeping your foot poised over the accelerator, partculary in what is supposed to be the world's most hi-tech car. There are many petrol cars with autopilot type systems that have not had problems reported the way Tesla has. Why can't they get this resolved?/!

      @@gao57009 I have a Model Y LR and yes, in very sunny states the car seems to get freaked out by heat haze on the road, especially as it goes over slight crests. And yes, it is a joke that Tesla haven't fixed this yet. They should spend less time on FSD on city streets and more time fixing these fundamentals. When it does it the first time on a trip you'll then start covering the gas pedal until it stops doing it, which can be an hour or so... I only get the problem in the conditions above, when road tripping the south west.
