Absolutely Stunning! It takes a real love and understanding of wood to restore its beauty! This is a magnificent piece---a real work of art! I think taking the small brush to stain the dovetailing on the drawers was a fine touch---and using the darker stain for contrast, making the details stand out was perfect! I'm glad I happened upon your channel!
There is no better thing to watch than the savage of an old piece of furniture receiving another life ,your work is breathtakingly beautiful I’ve absolutely loved watching the transformation well done . Scottish fan xx
Hi Holly. I do like a good contrast, probably too much. 🤣 I know the drawer pulls are a little bit ‘odd’ but i really like the fact they are solid Oak and original so they deserved to stand out. 😀👍
U never use steel wool on oak AN u never put your hardware on till u finish the drawer front AN u finish the hardware before u put it on your stain was streaked always use a gel stain it goes on BETTER .
This piece did not look like I thought it was going to, but it’s definitely distinctive and much much more beautiful than I could’ve ever hope to make it.
David I really enjoyed this. You always seem to find the prettiest, most interesting pieces to work on! Thank you for sharing your hard work which is always impeccable! Enjoyed seeing Daisy!
Job well done on a beautiful piece of solid furniture. I’m sure someone will be very happy to have this in their home. The contrast between the wood stains is lovely too. Lovely that your dog made an appearance 😊 so cute x
Wonderful! So artistic! I was thinking "oh no, not dark, I like the mellow tan brown" but when I saw the reveal, I gasped with pleasure. It looks so classy!
Hi Bret. Wow, that’s a great compliment and very much appreciated. I love doing what I do and to hear it is appreciated makes that even better. Thanks again 😀👍👍👍
I've watched all 3 videos and I am really enjoying your style of restoration. I subscribed and I'm looking forward to new content from you!! ❤ I love these old pieces that people don't appreciate anymore and you have given it a new beginning.
Hi, thank you so much for subscribing and your comments. I love these old pieces of furniture, they have so much character and the majority of the time they are manufactured beautifully with quality materials. 😀👍
@@MayfieldRestorations thanks for letting me know about your upcoming video. I think this last one was very pretty, I just think it would present itself better in lighter stains.
Beautiful!! I remember my grandparents having a dressing table exactly the same as thus but with metal handles on the drawers. Thankyou for the memories.
Stunningly classic piece. I love the difference in the wood grain. Magnificent! I've watched so many videos about the painting of wood, but THIS ... reminds me of the natural beauty of wood. Wow!
Oh my gosh, you are going to be one of those people that make me run out of adjectives for how gorgeous your pieces are!! I absolutely love the contrast in this, and I love the wood grain. A very beautiful restoration, thank you for sharing!
I just found your channel and I am so glad I did! Amazing restoration. Most would have painted it but you brought it back to a gorgeous piece of work. Love seeing Daisy girl too! 😊
Okay, can we say absolutely magnificent! Such a talent you have for taking ugliness and creating beauty. I give you 5 stars with gold rings. I am really impressed. Cheers
Hi Judith, unfortunately there were no makers marks anywhere on this piece as I always look for one before starting the restoration. I got this from a house clearance with a number of other pieces. It appeared the old man that had passed was a bit of a hoarder and his small house was full of lots of things including some lovey quality vintage furniture. 😀👍
Thank you for your response to my question. I sometimes watch U-Tube blogs about antiques found in the U.K. and France. Some pieces of furniture are linked to certain people or times in history. I find this information interesting and helpful to know what to look for if I'm looking around for different things. I find that the workmanship is much better in the older furniture than in the majority of newer furniture. Thank you for sharing your techniques and knowledge with us.
That product called Elbow Grease worked an absolute treat. I was surprised how much better the dressing table looked with just the Elbow Grease and water cleaning.
Благодаря вам, шедевры минувших эпох будут радовать людей будущего. В предметах старины есть какое-то очарование, я бы сказала - душа. Обожаю старинные вещи. Вы молодец!
Well that was a gorgeous piece of oak furniture. I guess it’s personal preference but that OK it’s such beautiful marbling in it and it’s just was destroyed by that black stain. Very sad
Well, it's just stunning. I'm jealous of anyone who has vision. When I look at something, that's all I see. I don't imagine it differently like you do. I'm working on my first piece, an executive desk that I got free. It has such an incredibly thick top coat, I guess because it's considered high traffic. I've thrown everything at it but I've been unsure every step of the way. You said in the video, many hours and many sanding pads later... I wonder how many that is. Just as a gauge for my own work. My lack of experience has made me go too easy as i was afraid of going into the veneer. If I screw this up, I'm out a free desk and I've learned, but I really want to get it right.
Hi Sherrie. Thank you so much for such lovely comments. Don’t worry, the more pieces you do and the more you’ll see the potential of each piece of furniture. I always spend at least 20 minutes just looking at the piece, assessing the design, the shape, the wood type and the condition. I then think about whether to fully paint, partially paint or to just restore. The plan I have often changes as I start working on the piece. In answer to your sanding question, I spent around 8 hours getting this piece back to the bare wood. For your piece I would advise to go easy at first, I only sand because with experience I can see how far I can push it before sanding through the veneer and that has come from making many mistakes in the past. Try to use paint stripper on your desk top first. It’s worth doing multiple applications before going in with the sander. When you do go in with the sander, start slow and don’t use a heavy grit paper (no smaller number than 120grit) another tip is to also change your sanding disc more than you think you need to. Move the sander slowly but don’t leave in one spot and only apply slight pressure. I wish you luck and thanks again for watching my channel. 😀👍
New subscriber, I really like the finished result but I don't understand why beautiful oak has to be stained to look like something else? This really is not a criticism, I genuinely don't understand.
Hi Catherine, thanks for subscribing to my channel. In answer to your question I think it’s purely down to personal taste and the style of the specific piece of furniture. This is an Art Deco piece so not sure it would look right in the light Oak. 😀😀👍
Absolute amazing !! This Vanity Dresser is so beautiful and i like the two colors you being using and it makes this piece so chic !!! Real Craftsmanship !!!

I didn’t think I would like this piece with the contrast. But when finished I really did. It’s beautiful and looks very Art Deco.

Really appreciate the small details such as staining the dove tails and waxing the drawers. Beautiful.
Thanks so much Debbie 😊
