In this video I restore and old damaged credenza. The veneer on this vintage buffet was completely gone, some wood was rotten and had to be repaired. I tried two different techniques of veneer application and used two warm colours to give this old buffet a new life. You can see multiple tips and tricks I used in the restoration process and hopefully learn something new. This was my favourite project to work on so far.

Stunning. In a world where I keep seeing people covering real wood and even metal or BRICKS with paint and call it "restoration", it's so wonderful to see someone take their time to do it the right way.
With a bit of gentleness, that cabinet will look beautiful for a lifetime. Great job.

@@Flippingdrawers I just read through all of the comments and saw the reference to Tom Johnson. He is a lifelong restorer taking on genuine family antiques and I watch him religiously, but to say you are just a guy in a garage is ridiculous. You have the freedom of expression because you don't have to take any input from an owner. The artistry that your body of work shows us is amazing. Don't put yourself down that way. Nicely done! I was glad to see that you refinished the interior of the piece as well; so many other TH-camrs don't paint or refinish the interior of the pieces they work on and so (in my opinion) they don't look "done." You did a great job bringing the buffet back from the depths!

Absolutely 'jaw dropping' result my friend. This Credenza, at best was firewood. You set yourself an unbelievable challenge to restore it where other people would not have given it a first thought, let alone a second thought, & you did both. Your empathy with the materials in front of you is just SO good, what is broken, you fix. What you can't fix you replace, making it if you have to. What you have finished up with is an 'insane' result almost beyond human comprehension & hard to believe that it is an enormous restoration. SO well done my friend. Cheers, Don from South Aust.

You did SUCH a good job, what with how bad it was originally. It has a very antique and rustic look - whether that was intentional or not, it looks good. I'll admit, I'm not the biggest fan of the handles (I would have spray painted them gold or brass) and would have painted the wood engraved details. But, both of those are personal taste and in no way objectively make it a bad piece. Phenomenal work, as always! ❤️

    What a beautiful job!
Thank you for another enjoyable video and for letting us know how long the actual project took. I’ve always been curious about that but I always forget to ask.
Also congratulations on being able to become a full-time TH-camr!

You are a true artist! My Dad worked in wood a lot also. As a small girl age 12 I watched him make 2 end tables and a long coffe table also. The end tables had cute little drawers where my mom kept her needles for embroidery. I still remember her sitting there working on her embroidery. I just cleaned up the old house in the country to get ready to sell. Parents are long gone, but at 78 years those items of wood still sit in their old house and the memories are wonderful. Thank you for sharing your talent!

The restoration is lovely, but my favorite part was when you not only made your own veneer scraper, but you took the time to stain it and make it lovely as well. I really enjoy that kind of attention to detail and drive to make even small things the best they can be.

Hard to believe it is the same piece. You really saved that furniture from the trash dump. I like that you even refreshed the bottom. Good luck with your new full time job. With your talent you are sure to be very successful. Hugo is a beautiful little guy.

Carpentry is the most beautiful form of artwork because the things you build are not only things of beauty but also useful. I wish I had the resources and learned skills to be an artisan carpenter. I imagine that the pleasure and pride that you feel when people admire your breath taking work, must be exilerating.

Thank you so much 😀 that’s very kind. I bought a can of paint and a brush, flipped a piece of furniture and used the money to buy a sander and more paint…. You get the idea.
