I'll never understand why anyone would prefer a plastic cape. I have ALWAYS hated plastic capes, ever since I first saw them introduced in the '90s. Cloth goods capes, especially wired capes, forever!
Plastic has the advantage of being long-lasting, with no risk of tearing, staining, or discoloring over time. In my opinion, it would be ideal to use flexible plastic capes with built-in wires.
@@marcinstrzelczyk2758 depends on the plastic. Especially flexible plastic with wires. That can also deteriorate and tear over time. I can also stain and discolor. I'm sorry but None of the things you mentioned are actually any advantages plastic has.
1:57 mark Dick Grayson Batman is not CLEARLY blue and grey based off the comic cover. It could be either black or blue based off perception and circumstances
These comparison videos are really great. You can go back in time and admire classic figures and on top of that you can see how articulation and design have evolved, where nothing has changed and where companies have regressed.
I found the platinum McFarlane at GameStop and it has become my favorite Batman figure followed by Knightfall but only because of the wired cape. Both are the ones that I could never get rid of.
Slight nitpick, the head and trunks i wanted to see was from the first appearance Superman, since that head was bigger, i wanted to see if the Speeding Bullets body scales okay with it for a possible Fleischer Superman custom
In hindsight, instead of comparing it to the art on the box I should have pulled out the actual comic itself. Looking at the interior art, it is much clearer.
Mattel’s Dickbat is so bad, I completely skipped out on it, and for me shows been desperate for a figure after DCD made a wave dedicated to it and NOT make DickBats figure, speaks volumes. I got the regular and platinum edition of McFarlanes
Both Mcfarlane's blue and black versions are superior. Their body mold passes just enough as a regular Batman, which for me is a treat because the design of this suit is too good to waste it on a strict "Dick Grayson version".
If Mattel would have went forward with David Vonner’s vision for the DC line it might have been the No. 1 line today. Instead we have an abundance of figures that fall short due to scale, sculpt or design.
How is it clearly blue and grey?! Tim wore the blue suit in the battle for the cowl. It's been very well depicted as black and grey man. Started in Battle for the Cowl. Then continued in 4 other stories before Batman and Robin Reborn.
I get where you're coming from, and honestly this is a time when I should have used the interior art as my comparison and not the box. The interior art relied less on color shading and really leaned in to inks and cross-thatching to get the job done. We see it on the art used for the Mattel box. In the art, the parts of Damian's costume that are meant to be black are given a base color of dark grey, whereas Dick is dark blue. If Dick's costume was meant to be black, it stands to reason they would have used to same grey as they did for Damian. I know the argument that comics often use blue as a highlight color for black, but since they did not do that for Damian I argue Batman's costume is meant to be dark blue. I could always be wrong, but I feel very confident about this. I do appreciate your comment and the discussion though.
@@5POAFigureReviews Given the coloring of the batsuits they've used blue in such as Hush and the Adam's suit Drake wore I think they would have clearly shown it across the appearances of the suit. Given the major traits like the cowl, thin eyes, belt and gauntlet the suit remained very consistent and the stories leading into Reborn. Frank's depiction to me looks like it went for a leather like texture to the cowl and cape. It's fun talking batsuits with ya! Love the channel btw! Watch it all the time!
Correct me if I’m wrong I’m pretty sure dicks costume does fluctuate between black and grey and blue and grey after Bruce comes back and there are two batmen for a bit
@@arkystavis7356 No it doesn't. He remained in a black suit but Frank's black for the cowl has a more blue tone to it. If anything the other stories reinforce that the suit was black and remained quite consistent.
Mattel one looks horrible. That's when they begin to have horrible QC issues. Mcfarlane one is way better. It doesn't look like someone in a cosplay suit. The Mattel one looks too skinny. And the cape is straight up horrible.
The face on the Mattel looks better but the rest McFarlane wins in my opinion. McFarlane made him looking like he his dentures came loose and he is holding them in.

FIRST OFF MCFARlENE dc toys are too big to play with and don't look good with other figures jacks new movie sonic toys they have 22 points of Articulation but McFarlane toys have 22 points of articulation too but it doesn't work so how can a 5 itch figure have the same articulation but look good better than a 7 itch figure do better bro only thing good about McFarlane toys is it wired capes😮💨 👇👇👇 this is my Opinion 👍 you can like McFarlane toys
They aren’t perfect, but I’ve been loving the wired capes. I’d like to see all the caped characters using them going forward. Thanks for the video!
I honesty prefer Mcfarlene just for the colors
I totally get it! No real contest

Yes another versus, easily my favorite vids, thanks for listening to my comment man🙃🙃
You're welcome! Glad you enjoy them!
After seeing this swap 10:00 it pushed me to finally order him and make a regular Superman on that mold and let me say, it’s Fantastic!
Wired capes complete.... me.

Thank you for the headswaps!
You're welcome!
I love watching these videos
Soon enough review the Mcfarlane Toys Batman Noel and Golden Age next Jason😊
The knightfall head on dickbats is so choice
Getting tired of McFarlanes DC batmanverse but they have made some really nice batmen

I hate the mattel ears omg
The wire on my Black one snapped 😢
Oh no! I'm so sorry that happened to you
I like the diagram cut more on the McFarlane. It can go more than just forward and back.
I love a good ab crunch/waist swivel combo, but this isn't it.
How do Nightwing heads look on Batman reborn ? If you ever bring him out again could we see Titans Nightwing's head on him please
Mattel looks like doodoo 🎃 happy Halloween 5poa
Happy Halloween!
1:59 clearly blue and gray?
01:58 Clearly blue and grey?? It could work either way to me.

I still think the older Mattel version is one of that lines best. Even though the mcfartlane is far superior 😂❤🦇
If you have the Dark Knight Returns Joker, could you try the First Appearance Batman head on it?
The original Mattel was the first DC figure I got. So I can blame him for my downfall into this madness
I found it last week at Toysrus &29.99
Canada? Or one of those newfangled Macy's locations?
Mcfarlane hands down for this Batman
Mattel’s Dickbat is so bad, I completely skipped out on it, and for me shows been desperate for a figure after DCD made a wave dedicated to it and NOT make DickBats figure, speaks volumes. I got the regular and platinum edition of McFarlanes

I think about that sometimes
The black is more accurate it needs to be faded black but yeah definitely black.
I am not a fan at all of the cloth/wired capes and how they attach on the Batman figures.

Should have used the black suit. It was black in the comics.

Dick grayson batman is actually black and grey not blue and grey if you look at the comic panels
Call me delusional but why do I fear that they're gonna repackage McFarlane DickBat into a 2-pack with a proper navy shade...
I can see it. With Professor Pyg or someone that should be a single release
Probably a 2-pack, but maybe an open mouth with gritty teeth variant 🤔
