Hi, Im glad I found this video and its very informative.. I have a 5 tires (1 full spare) and interested to do a 5 tires rotation. But 4 tires are already with 4k miles on them, can I still use the spare tire to do the 5 tires rotation even the 4 tires are more than 3k miles? TIA
Makes sense, but then, when it's time for new tires, you got to buy 5. Most retailers only offer specials on a set of 4. What about people who change to winter tires, do they actually change out their spare to a winter one? Guessing most people are cheap & do neither. 🤪
@TheTopher this is great thanks! I'm deciding between the Cooper AT3 4S and Continental All Terrain Contact A/T for my Passport. I'm in ND so leaning towards the Cooper or a dedicated winter tire.
@@TheTopher Good to know. I'll plan on running a dedicated winter set and get A/T's for the rest of the year. We have icy conditions on the roads here.
Been driving for 50 years and have never rotated my tires. All kinds of vehicles front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, four wheel drive. Trucks and cars . Never had any engine, transmission (auto & manual) , or differential issues.
Rotating the spare seems like a giant waste to me. It's something you almost never use and will have on the vehicle for less than 500 miles when you do use it. Buying 5 new tires is madness. When I upsize I always just buy a good used comparable tire. Then rotate the best old tire in as the spare when I buy the second new set of 4. Things with clutch diffs are different I know but otherwise.

I will say, these aren’t amazing in the snow and ice. I actually preferred the cooper htp all-seasons, they were awesome year round

Probably the best bet. As an all-terrain tire in all other conditions these have been fantastic!
