its a nice bike , i think folding bikes def good for office workers who live in a busy city and might wanna fold it up to take inside the building and or onto a bus or train, using it to commute between stations

An excellent ´real-world´ review...it´s good to see 250w bikes getting to the point where they might actually be generally useful...my personal biggest interest (b4 buying an ebike) is seeing how they perform on hills...LOTS of long somewhat steep hills where I live...
do some mods to it put some bmx handle bars on it put some zoom hydraulic calipers on it and a zoom suspension seat post on there you will have a even better bike
It’s a quick little machine. I like the red/black combo although the chunky folding look isn’t too my taste. I imagine it’s pretty heavy as well if you wanted to lift it onto a bike rack rather than fold it?
How did you reverse the stem? I fancy doing that to my folder. Never thought about it till i saw this video. Im a 6 footer, and when i have the saddle and bars up at max height , my wedding tackle are getting a lot of abuse. Cheers.
I have the 750 watt engwe pro has all what you mentioned, i live in rayleigh , and use the bike to go places the i had to use the car, i love the bike, and so many people keep commenting on it whe i stop, just need more people get these bikes!
No i do 17mph anywhere i go, and only use setting 5 to go up hills and busy round abouts, its a silly law, but i stick to the 17mph and always peddle assist so the police have no need to stop me!

@@Dennis-ny7zq its strange its only a electric push bike, that can do 30mph, i went past the police the other day going to hadleigh, i was doing 17mph, they just looked at me, going past, you think they must have better things to do, and what if you don't have a car licence, i suppose a fine, also some of the legal e bikes can do 30mph, there is quite a lot of e bike on the road, hopefully the law will change!
One big negative I found, those tyres are balloons, thin even though they look knobbly. A puncture is a nightmare, they won't stay on the rims even pushing it. Tyre goo doesn't work, just makes a mess. Aramid , kevlar by another name, is cheap in strips that can be glued inside the tyres to stop punctures. Ten quid or so and a little work is worth it.

these style of fixed spokes , in your experience are they less likely to become loose like regular spokes do ? in my builds i have to tighten the spokes every few months on a generic hub motor because they clink
A update, my engwe pro, i governed it to do no more than 15mph, well going up the steep hills in rayleigh the bike really struggled and the motor was making a loud noise! I think as the bike is very heavy it needs that extra power to get up those really steep hills. I went up the same hill ungoverned and it shot up the hill, no problem, so now i will leave ungoverned, (25mph) and only do 15mph on straight roads and use the extra power up hills and busy roundabouts, i don't ride on pavements , so im using it like a push bike!!

@@briannab4770 yes one bike has front and back suspension, with hydraulic brakes, mine is the model below that, it only has front suspension, ans cable disc brakes! Goven! 15mph. Ungoverned! 25+mph. Means restricted! Ungoverned means unrestricted power of the motor , hope that helps, i absolutely love the bike and i have cycled peddle bikes all my life, with this bike you can do your exercise on low power, ie setting 2, then when the legs start aching put the setting up to 3, and let the motor assist you, its brilliant!

So i keep to the speed limits on the roads for a bike like 15mph and use the extra power to climb steep hills, that way im not breaking any laws so no need to be pulled by the police, really what can they pull me up on, keep it at setting 3, then with steep hill setting 4 or 5 up hill you will still at most do 16mph, well in rayleigh essex you will!

My ebike conversion gave up yesterday only done 200miles lost all power controller and motor went hot then cut out also cant get the battery to charge any ideas? Motor is stiff also wont freely spin
I Just want to find a review of the bike in restricted UK 250w mode compared to other 250w machines. UK reviews more often than not use the unrestricted mode and this gives a false impression for the seemingly few people that want to abide by UK laws. From other reviews the general feeling is this is really a 750w bike, just labeled as and restricted to 250w for UK market.
Is it worth getting an ebike in the UK if you live at the top of a long steep hill? I'm kinda worried that I'm just gonna be stuck with a heavier bike than my current one, which I'll still need to push all the way to the top :(
not all bikes have this mode. I don't know about this one. I couldn't find any information if this one had it. only slow speed but I guess you need be sitting on the bike, pedaling??
@@oldboy5001 yes me too. because 250 watt bike from decathlon that I tested once on a very steep slope where I live couldn't climb it. I had to return the bike because you don't want to push a bike like this with luggage and yourself on a slope like this. let me know if you find a legal bike with a walking mode
Silly man with no helmet. I have an e bike that's 48 volts. 250 motor. 24 amp hrs that gives you 100 miles on one full charge. 203 disc on the front and 160 on the back. Indicators, break light. , a big motorcycle light on the front can't fault it and it comes from a reputable company based in the uk.
with all these new BS city laws on charging and banning petrol cars entering the inner cities ,the government has to allow some slightly higher power Ebikes , BUT the issue is saftey, not from the rider but idiot drivers who assumes someone on a bike is doing 15mph and theyd pull out infront of you at any junction ,once the awareness is put into a revised highway code then they might start to allow better bikes on the roads :)
35mph ffs, that's mental esp on 250w wattage of motor, if this is accurate they need to make a bigger wheel with same size motor instead of those effing 12kg rear wheel lumps and i'll be first in line for one
A good point ive tried to make in several diy videos if they just beef up the phase cables and some inner components you could get all the speed you need from a small motor 😉
Does the lack of regen mean this coasts downhill at whatever speed gravity provides or do you need to use pedal or throttle to get the speed downhill. If that makes any sense??
@Brad Warren maybe not sure about the regen but setting a much higher maximum speed on the display probably helps the most otherwise it's creating resistance from 15mph upwards

The price is $600 USD more than the Lectric XP 3.0 which has a stronger motor and is stronger all the way around so they also have a $800 lite version.
Lectric 3.0 is $999 and only has a 500w motor. I think you will find this Engwe has a 750w motor but re-labelled as a 250 for the uk market. it can be unlocked !

They're all technically legal. Higher volt will give you more speed I wouldn't even worry about numbers of torque you ain't gonna feel anything remarkable in a36v ebike
Engine X has more power. 750w peak vs 500W peak on Ado A20F Beast. Engine X also has higher top speed and is a more comfortable ride. Also engine x has a throttle which you can activate if you want to. The A20F Beast has no throttle.
Physics being physics, that may be labeled a 250watt for EU consumption.. In US same motor is 750watt.

for hillclimbs you're better off with a much larger/stronger rearwheel engine or a mid-engine (on the cranck)
I have this ebike. For hill climbs it is great. Much better than my previous ebike which was the Ado A20F.
I live in a very hilly area 40km away from Madrid and I can confirm this bike does get the job done with hills

I've had my Engwe Engine X a couple of months now, on a straight flat surface my top speed was 25mph.

Well that's 99.9% of all bikes on the market. Even 36v 250w motors will do 20mph and that's legal as long as they are electronically limited
If you get caught using throttle on public roads & police clock ya they will crush it.. Defo risky... Just got it in black
Police take 3 days to turn up to a burglary now days they don't care if you're using a throttle if you're not taking the piss riding badly
