Hi Have you ever noticed a gas/fuel smell in your oil during a oil change or simply checking the oil from the dipstick? I ask because I have a 2018 Civic SI with only 2400km and I can smell fuel in the oil. I researched and found many people with CRV's and Civic's reporting the same. I drive mostly highway, 50km to work. Thanks

I am using the UK Made 2018 Civic SR Hatchback in Sri Lanka, the maintenance minder in my car was showing remaining milage till the second service and the service center people have reset the oil life via Launch x431 scanner when they did the service. and now the car is showing oil life as remaining days and there is no option to revert it back to show it in remaining milage. service guys again try to change it to milage via the same scanner but even the scanner does not have an option to change it to milage. is there anyone who faced a similar issue? or anyone can help me to fix that issue? I have seen some cars have the service minder in days or percentage or milage, is it something to do with the region? Another issue --- When I turn off the auto-idle stop it used to show "Auto Idle Stop" or "Auto idle Start", but now the message only shows just "Stop" or "Start"
What if u reset it without doing the oil change? Will it detect that there it still needs one n the reminder will pop up again or will it stay like that? Sorry it's a dumb question but just curious
No, it’s a good question. Because the answer is - it won’t detect it! It just assumes you put new oil in. The same goes for if you change the oil and never reset the maintenance gauge it assumes that you have old oil in the whole time. Makes you wonder how the hell it detects anything to begin with. What are these sensors checking for? Its just using a set formula that really doesn’t reflect the actual oil condition. It’s my opinion that the maintenance recommendations for the oil life aren’t accurate whatsoever, and that it is always best to check the oil yourself with the dipstick. The fact that the dipstick is designed terribly is another matter altogether. So I would recommend checking your oil level manually at the pump every time you fill up. Usually lets the car sit on average 5 minutes. This will tell you what you need to know - colour, oil level, even smell can be an issue to Turbos. Now instead of the maintenance recommendations, use the trip meter (A or B). Reset it every time you have the oil changed. That way you can track the mileage your self, and change it when the right mileage has been driven.
