No, get a decent older phone with a windows laptop, that is much more productive, those are just extras. A tab s7 plus does all that those can do. And a womdows 11 laptop does that and much more.
I think the Surface Pro 8 and Pixel 6 Pro at around the same price is a far superior combo as you can actually run 100’s of better apps (X86). The Tab is Android so is quite limited for some workloads. The SP8 is not limited and is superb.
Looked at the 12.4 version at the Verizon Store. Holy moly what an amazing display. Eats my 11 inch iPad Pro for breakfast. And the 12.4 size seemed just on the edge of being too big bit still not as bulky as the 12.9 inch iPad. If Apple doesn’t at least go to mini LED on the 11 inch I might switch.
Replacing my Tab S4, a 10.4". I thought the Ultra was just to big for me. That is the only reason not to buy it. I bought the 8+ instead. My surface is a 12 and that is a great size so the 8+ seemed like the perfect fit. It is an awesome tablet! My only beef is I wish it had at least one more USB-c.
I am in a similar situation. Preordered the Tab S8+, but thinking about upgrading to S8 Ultra. Main idea is that I could place it next to my 14" Yoga Notebook as a secondary screen when travelling. Not sure anymore when the smaller size of the S8+ would be better for my use case..

I guess S8 Ultra is more bright than S8+. When I had an opportunity to examine S8+ I liked it a lot. Fantastic tablet. The only thing I thought I wouldn't be against is some additional size. So I decided to go for Ultra as to make my upgrade from 11" tablet more noticeable.
i am quite happy with the s8 plus. as a galaxy tab user for the last 10 years, they have been my main drivers. i am certainly not disappointed with the latest tab.

Went to best buy to get the Samsung ultra 8 a couple of days ago took it to the Verizon wireless store and found out it doesn't even have a sim slot was very disappointed had to take it back to get the Samsung Galaxy 8 plus
Just a small correction about the ram size. So actual ram is 8gb on all of these but Samsung has been using a part of the ssd as virtual ram for a while now. Obviously you can have more virtual ram with larger capacity ssd.
I'd love a review from an artist's point of view. I'm starting my degree in interior design in April and would like to know how functional the ultra is for drawing, writing, meetings, etc. I'll only be using it for my classes or Netflix, so if any of you can share your review on this tablet, I appreciate you for taking the time to help and thank you in advance. It's been 3 months but I hope my review will still be useful. I mainly use my ultra for illustrating but I also occasionally use it for movies. I got it primarily because of the display size and it has been wonderful so far, especially since I've been creating large scale illustrations. I also tend to multitask while drawing so I could be watching a tutorial on TH-cam and drawing at the same time, the display size makes this very comfortable for me. I do take notes sometimes with noteshelf and I haven't had any issues with that either. The pen functions so well it's like writing on paper, just with easier editing. All in all, it's really great for artists, especially if you'd like the option of doing multiple things at the same time.

@nouribrahim9565 It doesn't heat up even after 7hrs of usage (I often illustrate for very long periods). I use clip studio paint for illustrating, it's uses a subscription model for tablets, and they have sales 4 times a year. There are other cheaper apps like ibis paint x and krita, which is free. Without charging, it can last at least 5hrs while illustrating

1. Does the s8 come with a cellular option? 2. Can you force the tablet to run in DEX? And if so can you run more than 3 apps side by side as in regular mode?
I have the ultra 512gb lte version and whilst the screen is immersive, for me its definitely far too big, even for movies so tend to keep in dex mode where I use a smaller window for movie watching. I plan to trade in and get the plus version instead.

Interesting. I need the tablet for movie watching and my digital comics. I feel like the Ultra would be great to have all that screen real estate for my comics but portability may not be best. I think I'll go with the plus. I currently have a S5E.

How is Lightroom on these tablets? Thinking of switching from an Ipad Pro 11 from 2020. The ipad was an absolute champ for photo editing, even for medium format GFX raw files. Would tab S8 be able to do the same?
is the title just clickbait? i mean, you basically conclude that screen size/weight is the key deciding factor. from your title saying 'SHOCKINGLY' i had anticipated much more of a difference. i'm currently considering one of these and looking at the S8+ as i need portability above everything. it is mainly travelling to/from work and while travelling to/from meetings during the working day most likely doing not very demanding tasks or even just watching a video. while i'm actually in work i have a pc i can use and at home i have everything from tv > hifi > quality pc. i don't mind paying extra for the Ultra should the S8+ be lacking, but, it doesn't seem so from your review. did i miss something significant?
Exactly my point also, seems that ultra is better in everything, i have not heard when s8+ is a good choice. I feel a bit biased towards s8 ultra. I myself want to do note taking. I would like to draw electric schemes, data science algorithms etc... mathematical equations..so I think is a bigger size better? yes it is but is it pracital, i will not travel with it. I will watch video on it occasionally. So If they will say it is far better then s8+ then i know what to buy. I dont care about multimedia creation, that is what I have my pc for.
Helpful video, but the only message I got was, "BIGGER IS BETTER". That is an opinion, but I like a bigger screen. I watch a lot of movies at home, when I go to the movie theater I don't go to a small screen theater, I go to the bigger screen theater, movies look better on bigger screens.
Hello, I recently purchased the s8 ultra. One of my usages is reading newspapers and Comics, in portrait mode, and this is perhaps looking better then the paper version. However the kickstand in the backcover only works in landscape, would you be so kind to tell me witch kind of stand you use in the video (11:38) ? And if anyone knows about a magnetic back-cover with a portrait mode kickstand, I'm interested as well...
I will just get the S8 that's enough for me as a tablet.. anything bigger might as well buy a smart tv with that money. depends on what you need it for, of course.
I pre-order my ultra tablet on Feb 10th and it's arriving April 8th. Also, I ordered a charger about two weeks ago and it was due on Feb 28th. It was shipped from Texas to Florida and FedEx is still trying to deliver to Saint Louis. Hopefully my phone and tablet will be delivered to Florida.

That being said, I am hoping you can somehow help me with a pretty specific (yet somewhat simple) question pertaining to the use of the S-Pen with Powerpoint. If I want to scribble directly on a running powerpoint slideshow, can I just grab the S-pen and immediately write on the screen? or would I need to take extra steps of accessing the menu at the lower left to toggle the pen on each time? I need a big favor please. There is a transparent case for the Samsung tab S8 ultra case in Amazon and eBay. I want to know how good it is and will it work with the keyboard case back? The idea is using the case for protection and sticking the back to use the kickstand. Will the magnet work or not.
How is the HDR on these? What is the peak brightness. I got the ipad pro 12.9 and its very bright. Can go 1500 nits, amazing in hdr videos! But I am thinking of swapping to the s8 ultra due to the locked os. No kodi, lack of physical usb controller support and other settings I would like to have. Plus moonlight IOS pc streaming is currently broken with hdr.. Just wish the ipad had the samsung software of Android some times. The ipad pro 12.9 is super great for productivity and video/picture and drawing. It is extremely powerful, but currently unless ios becomes more open I will switch. So please tell me if it is worth to switch to the s8+ or ultra?
My brother, what do you think of the Samsung processor on the Tab S8 Plus? Does it fulfill the purpose because it is the same processor as the S22 Ultra phone, unlike Apple? The iPad Pro processors come with the same Mac Air and Pro processors, meaning that the phone processor is superior in stages

I got the Ultra at pre-order and it feels too big so far, I think I can get used to it but was thinking about swapping it for the S8 plus. The keyboard case is coming Monday so I'll wait and see if that helps with the size because when I watch videos it gets heavy after a while... I'm like you I use a backpack so transport is a non factor it's just in use but I feel like the case will help with that. I also was worried that I got the 8gig ram ultra but it runs great. I have the Ultra as well as the full keyboard case and I will say this..... if weight is an issue, you would be surprised what the case adds to it. Even when I remove the keyboard portion, the backing makes a noticeable difference. Like you, however, I am reticent to return it for a plus as I think I can get used to it... But I'm not sure if I'm forcing myself to like it just because I love this damn screen. I do think the plus might be more reasonable for my needs though.

I have been looking at the ultra. I have a iPads, but always need a Android in the mix, I have had a few Samsungs Galaxy notes, I like them because I could fix it myself. Buy the part and it was easy. Expensive I like the idea of 14 screen and the pen has always been a must. Did it come with an S pen?
Have you got the tablet yet? How do you feel about its size? I'm using my 10.5 tab s4 right now and sometimes feel the screen not big enough to watch videos, considering getting s8+ or the ultra
The size is very large and the tablet is quite heavy, so keep that in mind. If you have the chance to properly set up the tablet with some stand or support, then its fine. But if you rely on holding the tablet while watching videos, then i would advise against buying it.
@@oni7729 then its the best tablet you can buy. Just make sure not to spend too much on it, since the tab s8 plus is very similar. I would suggest waiting for a good sale.
It depends on what you need to run. If you need actual desktop apps, then probably not - but if you just need that "experience" and want to use a keyboard and a mouse (and even an external monitor) then yes. Hope that helps.
Really depends on the work you do. It's still an android system after all. If you only need to perform simple tasks, the longer screen on time can be handy. But if you need to use specific application, it won't work.

I got my ultra 2 days ago and yesterday I noticed a tiny blue dot pixel only appears when the screen showing black colors.. so disappointed, the ultra is beautiful but for the price we paid this is disappointing.. not sure if this can be resolved but I plan on switching it with iPad m1 pro at this moment.
I just got the s8+ as my first tablet. I'm kinda shocked at how crappy the battery is. I mostly use it to watch videos on TH-cam or Hulu and I'd be absolutely impressed if this battery lasted 3 hours, anybody else with the S8+ experience this?
at&t and most cellular services only offer service for the s8 plus. I think the Ultra is wifi only right now. so that's extremely annoying. I had to get the s8plus. I needed service! it would have been so cool to have a larger screen!
Got fhe tab s8 plus at the moment but still in my return window i use my tablet for streaming and using playstation remote play and xbox game pass stream i feel the tab s8 ultra would suit better for these tasks

For most people, that would only make sense if you want the larger display, improved camera system, S Pen performance or OS/Security support. Performance isn't a consideration for the vast majority of users. Hope that helps.

I went with the S8+ for plane trips as I didn't want the imposing size/weight for traveling but we'll see if that was the right choice.

I have the ultra 512gb lte version and whilst the screen is immersive, for me its
definitely far too big, even for movies so tend to keep in dex mode where I use a smaller window for movie watching. I plan to trade in and get the plus version instead.

Interesting. I need the tablet for movie watching and my digital comics. I feel like the Ultra would be great to have all that screen real estate for my comics but portability may not be best. I think I'll go with the plus. I currently have a S5E.

If I’m honest I started love and appreciate the Ultra again so decided to keep it, it is large but think of all that Oled screen estate. Mine is used permanently at home now so no problem with the size anymore.

How is Lightroom on these tablets? Thinking of switching from an Ipad Pro 11 from 2020. The ipad was an absolute champ for photo editing, even for medium format GFX raw files. Would tab S8 be able to do the same?
is the title just clickbait? i mean, you basically conclude that screen size/weight is the key deciding factor. from your title saying 'SHOCKINGLY' i had anticipated much more of a difference. i'm currently considering one of these and looking at the S8+ as i need portability above everything. it is mainly travelling to/from work and while travelling to/from meetings during the working day most likely doing not very demanding tasks or even just watching a video. while i'm actually in work i have a pc i can use and at home i have everything from tv > hifi > quality pc. i don't mind paying extra for the Ultra should the S8+ be lacking, but, it doesn't seem so from your review. did i miss something significant?
Exactly my point also, seems that ultra is better in everything, i have not heard when s8+ is a good choice. I feel a bit biased towards s8 ultra. I myself want to do note taking. I would like to draw electric schemes, data science algorithms etc... mathematical equations..so I think is a bigger size better? yes it is but is it pracital, i will not travel with it. I will watch video on it occasionally. So If they will say it is far better then s8+ then i know what to buy. I dont care about multimedia creation, that is what I have my pc for.
Helpful video, but the only message I got was, "BIGGER IS BETTER". That is an opinion, but I like a bigger screen. I watch a lot of movies at home, when I go to the movie theater I don't go to a small screen theater, I go to the bigger screen theater, movies look better on bigger screens.

Hello, I recently purchased the s8 ultra. One of my usages is reading newspapers and Comics, in portrait mode, and this is perhaps looking better then the paper version. However the kickstand in the backcover only works in landscape, would you be so kind to tell me witch kind of stand you use in the video (11:38) ?
And if anyone knows about a magnetic back-cover with a portrait mode kickstand, I'm interested as well...

By the way you gave a wrong statement about the resolution of the ultra, it is 1848×2960, hence it will be 240ppi.

I pre-order my ultra tablet on Feb 10th and it's arriving April 8th. Also, I ordered a charger about two weeks ago and it was due on Feb 28th. It was shipped from Texas to Florida and FedEx is still trying to deliver to Saint Louis. Hopefully my phone and tablet will be delivered to Florida.

Can anyone share differences in the 16GB RAM vs 12GB RAM? Tether through your phone, so you don't have to use hotspots.

That being said, I am hoping you can somehow help me with a pretty specific (yet somewhat simple) question pertaining to the use of the S-Pen with Powerpoint. If I want to scribble directly on a running powerpoint slideshow, can I just grab the S-pen and immediately write on the screen? or would I need to take extra steps of accessing the menu at the lower left to toggle the pen on each time? Would appreciate the help as I am considering the Tab S8 series to replace my old iPad Pro. Thank you in advance!

The Tab s8 Ultra is a two-in-one computer android tablet. Currently it is the best one in the world
6 GB is enough for Android. 8 GB should only make a difference in Dex mode if you happen to be using multiple memory-hungry apps.
6 gb feels less if you play high end games.
@@caprogers9640 System uses 4gb, so you have only 2gb for everything or less... 8 gb is fine now, but in the long run 12 gb will be a better investment if planning to use this tablet for two years.

I need a big favor please. There is a transparent case for the Samsung tab S8 ultra case in Amazon and eBay. I want to know how good it is and will it work with the keyboard case back? The idea is using the case for protection and sticking the back to use the kickstand. Will the magnet work or not.

How is the HDR on these? What is the peak brightness. I got the ipad pro 12.9 and its very bright. Can go 1500 nits, amazing in hdr videos! But I am thinking of swapping to the s8 ultra due to the locked os. No kodi, lack of physical usb controller support and other settings I would like to have. Plus moonlight IOS pc streaming is currently broken with hdr.. Just wish the ipad had the samsung software of Android some times. The ipad pro 12.9 is super great for productivity and video/picture and drawing. It is extremely powerful, but currently unless ios becomes more open I will switch.
So please tell me if it is worth to switch to the s8+ or ultra?

My brother, what do you think of the Samsung processor on the Tab S8 Plus? Does it fulfill the purpose because it is the same processor as the S22 Ultra phone, unlike Apple? The iPad Pro processors come with the same Mac Air and Pro processors, meaning that the phone processor is superior in stages

I got the Ultra at pre-order and it feels too big so far, I think I can get used to it but was thinking about swapping it for the S8 plus. The keyboard case is coming Monday so I'll wait and see if that helps with the size because when I watch videos it gets heavy after a while... I'm like you I use a backpack so transport is a non factor it's just in use but I feel like the case will help with that.
I also was worried that I got the 8gig ram ultra but it runs great. Happy to hear you say you tried the upgraded version. This is the exact video I was looking for

I have the Ultra as well as the full keyboard case and I will say this..... if weight is an issue, you would be surprised what the case adds to it. Even when I remove the keyboard portion, the backing makes a noticeable difference. Like you, however, I am reticent to return it for a plus as I think I can get used to it... But I'm not sure if I'm forcing myself to like it just because I love this damn screen. I do think the plus might be more reasonable for my needs though.

I have been looking at the ultra. I have a iPads, but always need a Android in the mix, I have had a few Samsungs Galaxy notes, I like them because I could fix it myself. Buy the part and it was easy. Expensive I like the idea of 14 screen and the pen has always been a must. Did it come with an S pen?

Have you got the tablet yet? How do you feel about its size? I'm using my 10.5 tab s4 right now and sometimes feel the screen not big enough to watch videos, considering getting s8+ or the ultra
The size is very large and the tablet is quite heavy, so keep that in mind.
If you have the chance to properly set up the tablet with some stand or support, then its fine. But if you rely on holding the tablet while watching videos, then i would advise against buying it.

It depends on what you need to run. If you need actual desktop apps, then probably not - but if you just need that "experience" and want to use a keyboard and a mouse (and even an external monitor) then yes. Hope that helps.
Really depends on the work you do. It's still an android system after all. If you only need to perform simple tasks, the longer screen on time can be handy. But if you need to use specific application, it won't work.

I got my ultra 2 days ago and yesterday I noticed a tiny blue dot pixel only appears when the screen showing black colors.. so disappointed, the ultra is beautiful but for the price we paid this is disappointing.. not sure if this can be resolved but I plan on switching it with iPad m1 pro at this moment.

I just got the s8+ as my first tablet. I'm kinda shocked at how crappy the battery is. I mostly use it to watch videos on TH-cam or Hulu and I'd be absolutely impressed if this battery lasted 3 hours, anybody else with the S8+ experience this?

probably defective one. also you have to check if your tablet is not at 120hz by default, if so change it to 60hz, the consumption will be better

I talk about the options in the video. There is no 90fps - highest you can go is extreme. Hope that helps.
at&t and most cellular services only offer service for the s8 plus. I think the Ultra is wifi only right now. so that's extremely annoying. I had to get the s8plus. I needed service! it would have been so cool to have a larger screen!
Same here I took it to the Verizon wireless store to find out I couldn't even get service for the thing Add to settle for the Samsung 8 plus

Got fhe tab s8 plus at the moment but still in my return window i use my tablet for streaming and using playstation remote play and xbox game pass stream i feel the tab s8 ultra would suit better for these tasks

For most people, that would only make sense if you want the larger display, improved camera system, S Pen performance or OS/Security support. Performance isn't a consideration for the vast majority of users. Hope that helps.
