Crank Chop Review: Put to the Test!

  • To those who say I'm pulling too slowly...yes, I did pull slowly at first until I got the hang of it! This is cheap plastic and I wanted to get a feel for how durable it and the string would be. Crank Chop is a manual food processor pitched by Vince Offer. Today I put it to the test with carrots, strawberries & blueberries, ice, tomatoes, celery, cheese, greens, and onion.

    People are complaining that everything comes out mushy. The same thing would happen if you put these foods in an actual food processor, the thing works great for what it is

      Not really. In a real food processor food gets chopped and they isn't continually smoothed around by the blade more after that while you're trying to "chop" other food

    • @akashic7348
      @akashic7348 5 ปีที่แล้ว +34

      I wouldn't complain that things are mushy, but I would complain about what a terrible job it does at chopping things evenly. That onion was the worst example, huge chunks mixed with tiny specks, that's not going to cook evenly at all. Other chopping products, even products like the slap chop or its millions of twins, would do a far better job at producing equally sized cuts.

    • @psychonauts0
      @psychonauts0 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@akashic7348 I mean he did very few pulls, I'm sure if you did like 15 or 20 the onion would be much more evenly cut into small pieces

      Also in the ad i shows what it can do it mushes and blends everything together and the slap chop chops it so idk why people are complaining

      i got both the crank chop and a "no name" version from germany. the crank chop feels just a little more cheaply produced and the blades are fixed in position. The german one has blades that rotate on an axis of their own, which means more flexibility if one blade gets a little stuck but the other two blades rotate on their own. That can reduce overall stress on the pulling cord and less obstruction while pulling. The german one does cost 35$ but all in all feels more durable. Long time usage will tell. I usually pull maximum of 3 to 4 times depending on the ingredients. It saves incredible amounts of time and in result you cook more healthy meals easier.

    I got this for my wife to use in our RV. I really wasn't paying much attention to her operation. I have to state here that unlike me my wife does not cherish owners manuals. Anyway, she chopped up some garlic and when complete I asked for her assessment. She said that if we were survivors of the Apocalypse and without electicity she might consider using it. Asked why, "I am not impressed with it's cutting ability". I called her attention to the "Red Blades". She didn't remove the guard. With the red guard removed it cuts much better. Think she will keep it.

      They use 550 paracord for parachutes and they use several lines of attachment.
      I don’t think a cheap made in china gadget is springing for 550 paracord
      That said. The return spring and ratchet pawls will probably bust before the cord does.

    Feta cheese is very soft and usually used crumbled or diced. Cheddar is a hard cheese though, and it is usually grated. It is not common to use the foodprocessor knife on cheddar, one would use the coarse grater, which this hand crank thing of course do not have. An easy manual option is a Norwegian cheese slicer, which makes thin slices. You can spread them out on a pizza or slice a stack into strips for a salad. ☺️

      It's cause all the things he used are juicy and wet. Plus he used a lot of pulls. More pulls = more chops

    I have a device like this, but it’s from Tupperware. It works pretty well, and I think my best uses are for a quick rough chop on fairly dense foods, like nuts or onions.
    There are at least two benefits of mine that I like versus the one you reviewed. Instead of a pull cord, it uses a crank that is geared 24:1. My lid disassembles (easily) to allow full cleaning inside!
    Mine is an older version of this: www.tupperware.com/quick-chef-pro-system-9723.html

    We have been using this in India for many many years now. I remember the first time i used this was probably 20-25 years back. I love using this for beating eggs, instead of using a whisk or fork. You should try that. Just a few pulls and it's done.

    I got one of these because I got a small 1bdrm apartment and a very SMALL kitchen with only one small square of my counter that I can use for food prep because the other counter is microwave then coffee maker, so this thing is perfect for me.

    The crank chop works every time if you use is correctly. I take homemade chicken stir fry or even Chinese takeout (chicken with mixed vegetables) and I throw it in there. Mixes everything up for awesome flavor and it's more colorful so kids eat their veggies.

    The problem I'm seeing with a few of the things you threw in coming out less than well-processed is your pull speed. If the blades aren't moving fast enough, the food is just gonna catch and drag rather than split.

    So i have the Tupperware version. Usually only for garlic tho. But it doesn't have the same problem with the pull back. And the top can be easily dissambled to clean it. As it will collect grime.

    I have a fancier model food processor (sort of wish I had gotten the simpler model but that’s a separate issue) and honestly this would be a lot quicker to chop a couple handfuls of mushrooms than the food processor. Sure, the food processor is less work in the chopping and much faster there but the cleanup is only really worth it if you have a LOT to chop.

    I have been using a similar product for 2 years now. The string, container.... Everything has survived.
    It does make things too fine or too thick
    But if you were going to sauté onions or blend your initial sauce or make something like salsa this is perfect.

    Love the fact that you almost test all the products on t.v. from as seen on t.v. or the new cool what ever product like from bulb head .Com or celebrity endorsed so we don't just only see what little bit of truth a commercial will tell. Also have had an atomic lantern for months now works good even after a few accidental drops really liked your review on that.
